I see both sides to this but tend to agree with you on this. Not sure who you would put in their place. A 4A vs 6A helps with RPI tremendously as opposed to scheduling an out of state school which does little for or even hurts your RPI. Honestly, I think this schedule is what gave us home field advantage all throughout the playoffs. I was happy not to have to travel to Paducah last year in the semifinals which I think ultimately gave us the advantage in that game. I understand the harder schedule might prepare you for a more difficult playoff run, but I think now that our numbers are down some you also have to take into effect injuries when you play big schools. The last two times we played Elder we came off the field wounded, and the next man up wasn't a great option. I would keep SK on the schedule for now.

I'm going to say Cov. Cath by 21+. SK gave up 257 rushing yards to Mercer exposing a giant weakness in their defense. I also say this because someone's head might explode immediately after reading it.

Over the years I have had a self-imposed cooling off period till Monday before I post anything good or bad. I should probably move it back to Tuesday or Wednesday this year. I didn't see a whole lot of positives in this game. Penalties, backs and receivers not lined up properly, missed tackles, missed blocks, a snap going through the QB's hands and a snap going over the QB's head and a huge mental mistake in the endzone. Even though we gave up 30 pts. I think the defense was the shining spot of the game for CCH if there was one. To be fair the defense did not give up all 30 pts and were not given great field position on a couple of drives. I think adjustments will be made and I think you will see some people in different positions this week on defense. Ultimately, I have more confidence in the on this side of the ball and believe Coach Brown will get it will righted quickly. I think the offense needs to be seriously looked at. We didn't look good in the scrimmage, and we looked worse in this game. Way too many QB runs again and putting players in positions where they can't use their talents. Tate is a great blocker and short to intermediate pass rout guy, he doesn't have the speed to run sweeps or go deep. Gaiser has the speed and the hands to spread the defense sideline to sideline as well as vertical and get big plays, he is not the guy who can run between the tackles or block. Bessler should be the guy running between the tackles and blocking. He has speed, strength and physicality and is hardly used. Bradshaw should be the target about 8 feet in the air, not many will be able to defend his height. To be fair that did happen once for a TD. Cash is your QB, let him throw the ball 9-16 for 47 yards don't abandon the pass so fast and don't get him killed running the ball so much. A QB run adds an extra dimension, especially with a guy like Cash, but not so much when they know it's coming as often as it does. I watched a good portion of the game with friends from Ryle and most were surprised at how vanilla/predictable our offense was. My disclaimer, I am not a coach, nor have I ever been a coach at the high school level. These are just my observations and thoughts and want the kids to have their best opportunities to succeed. Not trying to go all Karen.

Spot on! Bessler is listed on his Hudl account at 6'0" 200 lbs. and benches 285 lbs. and has some serious speed. He would be a load to bring down.

Honestly, I think I would like to see Gaiser more in the slot position. He has good hands, and it gets him into open space immediately where he excels and will allow him to make the big plays they are looking for. Putting him at RB hamstrings him and puts him into positions he's not his best.

I think the Bengals will let Ja Mar sit this year. Which apparently would be fine with him and tells me everything I need to know about him so good riddance. I think the Bengals will sign Tee Higgins to a new contract and trade Ja Mar with a year left on his contract that has little money owed on it. He would have to play or sit for little money for another year then try and negotiate a new contract with a new team or test the open market in 2026 while being absent from the league for two years. I'm sorry I'm old and worn out and hate seeing these guys cry over being "slighted" by money they make in three years the vast majority of us won't see in a lifetime or two. He can't throw the ball to himself; he can't block for himself, and he can't defend 11 people by himself. He needs other people on his team to do these things. His actions are squeezing their paychecks. This kind of stuff is a slap in the face to his teammates and the fans that's that ultimately root for him and pay his salary. That's why I say good riddance! Sorry for the rant.

I agree! We usually sit on the home side furthest from the concession stand. The problem with that is you have to walk through the "gauntlet" of Dixie fans to get there. We take our lumps of lighthearted jeers and move on. ?

I was at the game Friday. North Laurel did not look good on offense or defense. I'm not sure who they have scheduled this year, but it could be a long season for them at all levels. On the flip side CCH didn't look great either. On offense the O-line seemed good, the passing game was okay, and the running game was poor at best. I didn't see any of the stats if there are any, but our offense needs some work. On the defensive side of the ball, I thought we looked good for where we are at in the season. The 7 points that North Laurel scored came off of a long pass play where I suspect the defender was in the wrong coverage. There were other lesser mistakes that are very fixable considering the number of new faces at new positions on the field. Overall, I think the scrimmage accomplished it's purpose of getting some of these guys a little game experience before the season starts and knocking the rust off for the guys that played a lot last year. Looking forward to Ryle this week. Go Colonels!

I thought both team's defenses were pretty solid. Both team's offenses on the other hand looked pretty rusty. Conner plays a fast, physical and aggressive game. If they can improve their passing and limit the mental mistakes, they can make a deep run or win the 9th. Cov Cath passed the ball fairly well and put themselves in position to score a couple of times but failed to finish. They are definitely contenders and probably favorites to win the 9th as well but need to be a little more aggressive and improve their shots. It's the first game of the season and by tournament time I expect both teams will be hitting on all cylinders and in the hunt for the 9th Region Title. Good luck to both teams on the rest of your season.

I can confirm the varsity is not participating in the scrimmage, though they are strongly encouraged to be there in street clothes. On a less official note, I am told that there are 4 seniors on St Henry's team. If that is the case, I'm glad they opened it up to all grades.

Answered perfectly and thank you. I used to be fairly involved in the club soccer world, but not so much anymore. None of my kids played high school soccer, so it's an untouched world for me. Growing up my youngest played with a lot of the juniors and seniors playing for several different high schools this year, so I have a slight connection there and is generating little more interest for me. He was a pretty good soccer player and hate that he gave it up, but also love that he is playing football. I wish they could do both. If seasons were switched, I think participation would go up in both sports.

Is Soccerama a series of scrimmages or do these games count towards their season records? Also, how do coaches generally fill in their lineups. Do they play to win, or are they still trying to get their finger on the pulse of the team at this point?
