2024 "Where Do I Eat?" On The Road Thread

Recommended Posts

This usually pops up every year in individual game threads, but I thought I would allocate it its own thread this year.  My wife and I like to leave early for the road games and eat somewhere at the road venue pre-game.  It kind of gives us a semi-date night and also gives us a little feel and flavor for various spots around Kentucky.  So, if you are similar-minded come to this thread and tell us where to pre-game in your local area!  Want something uniquely local, not looking for fast food or chains (Chili's, etc.). We eat pretty much everything, but would like to get in and out in a hour or so, if possible.

Bardstown travels far and wide this season.  Out-of-town road games are as follows;

August 9 - Somerset (scrimmage) - to my knowledge we've never been there.

August 23 - Cooper - never been there

September 13 - Ashland - been there for baseball but never football, did not get to eat there

September 27 - Meade County - been there to wrestle, eaten at Jailhouse Pizza (which we liked)

October 11 - John Hardin - I'm familiar with E-Town but I'm interested to hear what @Hardin County Preps and others might recommend

Whuddya Got?!

Buffalo Bob's is good and I like Bob.

I would also recommend Smokin' This and That BBQ.  The owners, Guy and Mandy, are huge supporters of our Military and 1st Responders.

In Somerset there are a couple of local places downtown that are less than a mile from the field, Serindipity at the Orange Door https://www.facebook.com/callusat6066780648?mibextid=ZbWKwL and Charred Oak Whiskey Grill https://www.charredoakgrill.com/ If you want a little higher end meal check out The Urban Stillhouse https://theurbanstillhouse.com/ on the city square in the middle of downntown.

US HWY 27 has all of the usual chain restaurants, McDonald's, Wendy's, Taco Bell, Culver's, Chick Filet, Chili's, Texas Roadhouse, Longhorn and several others.

If you want a Starbucks type drink checkout Baxter's, locally owned. They have a walk in place and a drive through location just a couple hundred yards apart. They are easily located and much closer to the football field than Starbucks is.

That place looks amazing, I'm not sure I'd ever get past the appetizer menu.

It is really good and I like the introduction on their website, nice.

Also, anyone that hangs out there knows my man Tiny.

Cooper Game:  A little more upscale, but not fine dining, I would try the Tousey House.

 Home - Tousey House Tavern

The places listed near or close to Cooper are definitely all good. Boone County has a wide variety of restaurants to offer. What type of food do you mostly like or what would be something different you would like to try?

We ate at Longnecks up near Cooper / Ryle & enjoyed.  I’m heading to Ryle this Saturday for a MS game so might give Buffalo Bobs a shot this time around.

For the E-town / Radcliff area, it depends what you want.  Back Home restaurant in E-town is good, country style food.  In Radcliff, if you like Caribbean food, “Eat at the Spot” is great.

In the Radcliff area going to Meade co...... you can always go to Otter Creek Tavern...its a dive but has a great fish sandwich and other bar food.   Eat at the Spot in Radcliff is SOLID!
