From a financial aspect, Warren East has nothing to gain and everything to lose from streaming. I'm unsure what world some programs live in, but streaming reduces ticket sales. As a coach, I'd rather keep the money and put the sponsors on my fence row than lose the money to StreamingService.com and see my sponsors on the streaming feed. Streaming is wonderful for fans... awful for programs.

Highlands under Sphire is 1-3 against Cov. Cath, had a 5-6 season, and has been out of the second round one of three years. Oh, and people call me crazy when I say that I think the Birds will beat Cooper this year. Where are these good feelings coming from?

Agree with all of the initial points. The knee-pad rule is just silly.

BG and PT threw this summer at Greenwood... BG handled PT during that one meeting. That said, there is no denying PT's loaded deck of players, and Coach Thompson is an excellent coach who has won everywhere he has been. You can thank the RPI for probably never seeing BG v. Mayfield. BG v. PT would be more likely. I would rank 'em: 1. BG 2. PT / O-Cath Mayfield - All great teams, all can beat one another. Overall talent goes to PT but Mayfield gonna Mayfield and I feel bad for anyone who has to try and tackle the Atwell kid from O-Cath. 3. Owensboro / South - Will be interesting to see both these teams this year. Both have the pieces to be dangerous.

My argument for Wallace would be: 4th all-time for wins; Ranked 5th for State Championships won; Has won State Championships at two schools, both in KY's biggest classes; Of the 13 coaches with 8 or more State Championship appearances, he is the only coach who has done it at two different schools; and has a winning record against St. X (5-4 -- 2-2 against Glaser). Of the 10 folks you named and then stated that Wallace had an advantage of being in BG - 3 coached at the two most prominent private all-boys schools in the biggest city in KY, and 2 more coached at magnet schools in Jefferson Co. that saw their football prowess changed significantly by open bussing. This is not to say that they don't belong in the conversation, but to allude that Wallace had some advantage that they didn't is just silly.

Highlands is gonna beat Cooper. Mark it down.

Yeah... that's not a great comparison. Glaser may have scheduled those teams, but in his last three years, his St. X teams were: 0-6 v. Trinity 0-2 v. Bowling Green 0-2 v. Moller 0-1 v. Riverdale 1-2 v. Cincy St. X Honestly, this thread's premise is just strange. Who has questioned Glaser's place amongst the best ever to do it? I mean, as many have said, the wins and rings and stats speak for themselves. But, if X is holding on to the Glaser era, they're in trouble, 'cause the world moves on. T has moved on. Male has moved on. CAL has risen up. Programs that spend their time looking at their dusty trophies aren't going to put new ones in the case. X has one of the undisputed top 10 Head Coaches in KY FB History right now. Who has won a ring at X, has beat Trinity, and had 5 rings before X... and X people are talking about a coach from over a decade ago? That ain't good.

If both QBs are healthy, I would say that BG and Trinity are the MOST likely to repeat.

I don't think people realize just how good Dawson made them. I cannot see them being better at the most important position on the field. I think they are still the large-margin favorites, but I don't think they will be better than they were last year.

OK, my initial response wasn't much fun... how about this... 2A Beechwood - The best pound-for-pound team in NKY, Tier 1 1A Bellevue - Showing some signs of life, Tier 3 1A Bishop-Brossart - Tough to beat, Tier 2 5A Boone County - Boone Co. Schools should be ashamed, Tier 3 2A Bracken County - Scrappy Polar Bears, Tier 2 6A Campbell County - How are the Camels not better than this? Tier 3 for now... 2A Carroll County - They're gonna win 5 or 6 a year. Tier 2 5A Conner - They're a 6'5 Power 5 QB away from being Cooper. Tier 2 5A Cooper - Loaded, maybe double-loaded. Tier 1 4A Covington Catholic - Cov Cath is a flagship program for KY HS Football. Always will be. Tier 1 1A Covington Holy Cross - They're in Covington and they're holy... should be better. Tier 3 1A Dayton - Like Bellevue, a 1A team showing signs of life. Tier 3 5A Dixie Heights - They'll be someone's signature win. Can't seem to get over the hump. Tier 2 2A Gallatin County - It's tough to be a small school in NKY, Tier 3 4A Grant County - On the uptick from a tough past. Still Tier 3 4A Harrison County - Ray Graham gets you into Tier 2 5A Highlands - Highlands is a flagship program for HS Football. Will beat Cooper in '24 ?. Tier 1 4A Holmes - '23 was a disaster, but still a solid football school. Tier 2 3A Lloyd Memorial - Rolling. Gotta find a way to beat the big boys. Tier 2 1A Ludlow - If they don't get you the river fog will. Tier 2 4A Mason County - Really close to Tier 1. Good Football School. Tier 2 1A Newport - Nice 1A program fighting uphill most games. Tier 2 1A Newport Central Catholic - Tier 1 1A-school in KY, but NKY is a tough place. Upper Tier 2 2A Owen County - Doin what they can to survive in NKY, Tier 3 6A Ryle - Like Dixie, they'll help someone's RPI in the 4th round, but they won't be there. Upper Tier 2 5A Scott - Like a yo-yo, they're up and down. Right now they're down. Tier 2 6A Simon Kenton - "This is gonna be the year! I can feel it!" This was not the year. Tier 2 2A Walton-Verona - Great test scores. Surprisingly good football. Tier 2

I think that is fair... to a degree. I would say that each of those four teams I named could easily go 3-0 or 2-1 against the other three. I would say Ryle has a chance to go 1-3 or 2-2 at best against the other four named. JMHO

Based on Boyle coming back to earth a little and my last 35 years of life around HS football and Cov Cath. ? It has been a general rule of thumb for my experiences that Cov. Cath is never far from closing the gap quickly or overrunning those who are perceived as the favorites.

I think these four teams can all beat each other and are also better than the other 24... Beechwood, Highlands, Cov. Cath, and Cooper.

Tilghman looked unimpressive in the passing league that I saw, given the hype. I can't imagine they are better up front than their skill players. I agree with a previous post: Tilghman will roll until they have to play someone who forces them to be disciplined, and then I don't expect them to get past that. I predict the gap between Cov Cath and Boyle will close significantly this year. I'll also go out on a limb and say that Corbin will be a shell of what they have been for the past two years.

1995 BGHS. Coach Dan Haley. Led BG to the '95 AAA State Championship. Also led Tilghman to the '73 AA State Championship. Haley had runner-up teams in 94 (BG), 80 (Tilghman), and '69 (Bryan Station). Pretty incredible career taking three separate schools from three different regions of KY to the state finals in four different decades.

Much like Corbin... I believe some bills are about to come due.

It would be interesting to know what the replacement cost is for McCracken's turf. With their old turf being 11 years old, I wonder how much the new stuff is, especially since they don't have to do all the excavation work and such.
