Bracken County QB and linebacker Greg Benedict is out for the season with a broken tibia and fibula. Surgery this week. Ryland Tucker will be the new quarterback.

Fleming County (2-0) heads to Mason County (0-2) for this rivalry matchup.

These two rivals will meet up in Mt. Sterling on Friday. George Rogers Clark won the last two meetings 67-17 (2022) and 45-14 (2023). They did not play last year as the game was cancelled and not rescheduled.

The Pendleton County Wildcats (0-2) host the Bellevue Tigers (1-1).

Ryland Tucker, who came in at QB when Benedict got hurt, looked pretty solid. 1 of 3 on passing for 37 yards. 7 rushes for 55 yards and a touchdown. I think it’s just hard to give Tarter and Benedict many plays off because of how valuable they are on both sides of the ball.

Both will be out for several weeks. Tarter with a hamstring and Benedict with an ankle.

Bracken County was up 18-17, but tried an onside kick that was retuned for a TD. Losing your best players on BOTH sides of the ball is pretty daunting to overcome. Last week: Benedict threw for 138 yards, had three interceptions, and 10 tackles (1 for a loss). Tarter ran for 148 yards and had 10 tackles (3 for a loss). They are both pretty solid teams. But the 4 turnovers and no PATs is very bad. They should be glad they were still in the game at that point with the previously mentioned.
