He also drew 6 fouls. — JD Kendall (H) scored 14 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. — Will Furnish (H) had 6 rebounds and 4 blocks. — Nolan Hunter (S) had 10 and 5 rebounds. COACHES’ COMMENTS Terrence Brooks, Harrison County: — “This is a big win for us. We worked hard all season long and played a tough schedule this year, and it means a lot. Having seniors like Will Furnish and JD Kendall that have been through the program since eighth grade. Year after year you want to go further and further. I’m proud of our guys. We had three good days of practice and it paid off for us. — “I thought we shot the ball well, but in the first half we were little passive. They came out and put a little pressure on us and we weren’t looking for our shot. But, in the second half we kind of settled down. We executed our offense and got the ball where it needed to go. — Kaydon’s big night and other players: “We need those guys every game. That’s what we tell them and they have to play with confidence. Kaydon’s going to do a lot. He’s going to handle the ball, he’s going to score, he’s going to defend, he’s going to rebound… but we can’t depend on him to do everything, so I was proud of all our guys. In the second half, Mason settled in and made some things happen defensively. He got out in transition and moved without the ball to get himself open and knock down some shots. — About their style of play: “It’s what we do. All my years of coaching that’s how I coach. I don’t care how good kids are offensively their going to committed to playing defense. If they don’t, they probably aren’t going to play very much. Steve Fromeyer, Scott: — “We picked the last two games of the year to have our worst offensive output of the year.” — Nolan (Hunter)’s had a tough year breaking his foot three minutes into the first game of the year. We didn’t get him back until January 20th and that’s hard. That’s only 5-6 weeks to get where you’re supposed to be. — Brayden (Howell) came into the program when I took the job and I watched the kid in basketball camp. He’s just a gritty kid that plays really hard and it’s tough to replace that. He sprained his ankle yesterday in practice. But it’s his senior year and he’s going to play. He’s got two torn ligaments and two full tears and a partial tear and he’s played with it all year long. But he’s a tough kid. — “We want it to be a full-court game. We had opportunities. But really good teams don’t beat themselves… Harrison County is very good and Terrence (Brooks) does a great job. “ UP NEXT Harrison County will play George Rogers Clark in the semifinals of the 10th Region at 7:45pm. Scott’s season ends at 14-19. They lose four seniors: Nick Bowen, Brayden Howell, Nolan Hunter, and Bryson Lindloff. Nolan Hunter was selected to the All-Tournament Team.

  10. From 10th Region.com: MAYSVILLE, KY — Bracken County got off to a strong start, leading 19-9 at the end of the first. However, the senior-laden Lady Eagles’ experience and pressure was too much for Bracken County to handle. Scott would go on to win the rest of the three quarters 18-11, 13-6, and 19-10. THE BASICS Final Score: Scott 59, Bracken County 46 Location: The Fieldhouse, Mason County Records: Scott (15-15), Bracken County (19-14) HISTORY Scott and Bracken County were scheduled to play in the regular season, but Bracken County had to cancel due to being over their 30-game limit. COACHES’ COMMENTS Eric Pouncy, Jr. – Scott: — “The first half was a little shaky there. I knew that if we kept it close our depth would really help us later in the game. It’s a great feeling to get that first win in the regional tournament. I feel like that’s the hardest one.” — “Defensively I told them, our defense is going to lead to our offense. We gave up 6 points in the third quarter. We handled pressure well. In their zone we just slowed ourselves down. It’s probably the best we’ve done against a zone all year.” — “We tell them to get up and pressure the ball. Ball pressure changes a lot on the offensive end. If there are cutters and we’re behind on it, that allows us some time if we have the ball pressure there. When I first got the job that’s the main thing I worked on over the summer and we’ve done it all year. Just the shell drill and the basics.” — “Telling them that this could be your last game. Once I said that, it was just a different mindset.” — About facing GRC: “I just want us to fight for 32 minutes. You never know what could happen in this tournament.” Troy Archibald – Bracken County: — ” We get a lead and we just can’t take care of it. That’s the story of our season. I don’t really know what happens. We’ve just got to get back to it next year and we’ll figure it out.” — “I’m proud of the girls and proud of the way they played. We were worried about getting out-rebounded, and they only out-rebounded us by one. They’re a very physical team, and we just couldn’t finish.” — I think in the first half we missed 14 layups. That’s been our story too. So you make those… Those are layups we should have made.” — “We just don’t get a lot of points off the bench right now, but we’re young. We have mostly sophomores and juniors with some freshmen. I’m alright with that right now; we’ll get better. — “We knew they were going to come with a lot of pressure. I thought for the most part we handled it. We just couldn’t capitalize on our layups. That’s the difference in the game.” — “Our two seniors are going to be very hard to replace, if we can. Gineva Riley, her rebounding this year has been outstanding. Macie Sharp gave us a double-double every now and then and her leadership is tremendous. I’m tickled to death with how they played this year. They’re both going to be successful in life.” NEXT UP Scott will face George Rogers Clark in the 10th Region Tournament semifinals on Friday, March 3 at 7:45pm. Bracken County‘s season comes to an end after other much improved year under Troy Archibald. They lose two seniors: Macie Sharp and Gineva Riley. Ella Johnson was named to the All-Tournament team.

I felt like we had some confidence even though we lost to Brossart earlier. in the season” — “[The group of seniors] are a special group. When it’s all said and done, as a group, they have over 80 wins for their career. They’re just a fantastic group, and I think they’ll go down in history as one of the best classes to ever play at St. Patrick. What else can you say about them?” Steve Brown, Bishop Brossart: — “I thought depth would be an issue for them [St. Patrick]. Getting Riggs in foul trouble was big for us. She gave us fits with 16 points tonight. She had 7 in the first quarter, and they caught a little by surprise on an adjustment they made on their motion offense.” — “Olivia Lloyd, she just means so much to us. It took us a little bit over a half to learn how to play when she wasn’t out there.” — “We have no juniors. So when we go to the bench, we’ve got.. sophomores and freshmen. It’s a lot to ask of them to come out to the Fieldhouse and step right up and get things done.” — “When you look at our scoring, that’s our recipe. We have four in double figures. When we’re successful, that’s how it looks.” NEXT UP Bishop Brossart will face Montgomery County in the 10th Region Tournament semifinals on Friday at 6:00pm. St. Patrick’s season comes to an end.
