  1. From the article: The final straw came this summer. Bracken County had to cancel their summer basketball games due to lack of players. They only had a handful of players showing up to summer practices and could not get a consistent five to guarantee a summer team. They were also going to struggle to field at JV team next year.
  2. If Bracken County and Kentucky combined their current rosters they still wouldn’t be able to have 5-on-5 in practice.

  11. 1. Harrison County (14-5) Junior Corey Vaughn currently leads the team in batting average at .426 with 23 hits; 5 doubles, and 2 homeruns. On the mound, he’s thrown 29.1 innings with a 2.62 ERA and has struck out 39. Junior Elijah Harris has 21 hits and 15 walks for a .404 BA. He also has 16 stolen bases. Junior Braxton Grubb has thrown 22 innings and has the team’s lowest ERA at 1.59, and has 35 Ks. Senior JD Kendallhas thrown 24.0 innings with a 2.91 ERA. The Thorobreds were undefeated before heading down to Pensecola, Florida where they lost all four games. The Breds are 14-5, with their only Kentucky loss being to Madison Central on Saturday. 2. George Rogers Clark (13-5) Juniors Lochlan Hansel and Jordan Solizhave been a dominant duo on the mound so far this season, as predicted. Their ace Hansel has thrown 26.2 innings and has a 1.56 ERA. Soliz has thrown 18.1 innings with a 0.76 ERA. Senior Keyonte Backhas joined them in 22.2 innings with a 0.92 ERA and leads the team with 35 Ks. Kamden McAplin, a sophomore, leads the team in all hitting categories. He has 17 hits, 5 doubles, 13 RBIs, and a .340 batting average. Abraham Howardfollows with 16 hits and JP Gaines has 13 hits. Ben Fulks has 12 hits at a .400 BA. The Cards fell 3-0 to Montgomery County, however, Hansel gave up 0 earned runs. They later defeated Campbell County 2-1. 3. Campbell County (13-3) The Camels are led by a trio of hitters who all lead the team with 17 hits: Aydan Hamilton, Jake Gross, and Evan Clark. The three are batting around .360 and have almost a dozen RBIs each. Zach Franzen has thrown 18.0 innings and and has only given up 3 runs so far for a 0.78 ERA. Max Lause has thrown 21.0 innings and has a 4.22 ERA. The Camels have a resume with wins over Mason County, Highlands, Ballard, and Greenup County. 4. Mason County (11-3) Landon Scilley leads the Royals on the mound and the plate. Scilley leads the team with 18 hits and 4 homeruns and is batting .360. On the mound, he has thrown 18.0 innings with 32 strikeouts and a 1.16 ERA. Eli Porter has thrown 21.0 innings and has a 2.00 ERA. At the plate, he has a .312 BA with 15 hits. Trey Cracraft has 16 hits with a .333 BA. The Royals have extra-innings one-run wins over Scott, Bishop Brossart, and Nicholas County. 5. Montgomery County (12-4) Davis Johnson leads with 20 hits and 7 doubles at a .426 batting average. Matthew Rowlett follows with 14 hits and a .389 average. Rowlett also has thrown 28.0 innings and has a 0.50 ERA. The Indians spent Spring Break in Vero Beach, Florida going 3-2. 6. Bracken County (9-3) The Polar Bears made history by winning the 10th Region All “A” Classic for the first time. The Bears are led by trio Hank Kirft, Josh Hamiltion, and Ross Lucas, who lead the team in both hitting and pitching. Hamilton: .486 BA, 18 hits – 2.06 ERA Krift: .465 BA, 20 hits – 2.75 ERA Lucas .409 BA, 18 hits – 1.31 ERA 7. Bishop Brossart (8-7) Robbie Verst leads with a .449 average and 22 hits. Alex Amin has 18 hits and a .321 BA. Evan Moore and Brandon Bezold both have 17 hits. On the mound, Evan Moore has thrown 29.2 innings and has a 0.71 ERA and 43 strikeouts. 8. Bourbon County (10-4) Tanner Moore leads with 17 hits and a .425 average. Aiden Earlywine and Clay Estes both follow with 16 hits and a BA above .400. JT Ritchie has thrown 24.1 innings with a 0.86 ERA. 9. Nicholas County (7-7) Tate Letcher leads with 19 hits and Ryan Johnson follows with 18 hits and a .500 batting average. Brayson Ring has thrown 24.2 innings with a 4.26 ERA. Ryan Johnson has thrown 17.1 innings and a 4.85 ERA. 10. Scott (5-8) Brady Smith and Casey Hilbert lead the team with 10 hits. Brady Smith has thrown 21.2 innings with a 4.92 ERA and Casey Hilbert has thrown 14.2 innings with a 1.43 ERA.

  15. According to GameChanger, there were 55 combined walks. Neither team made an error. The Lady Devils scored 12 runs in the bottom of the 7th and stole home to win the game. Robertson County had 30 hits, the most in a game for a single team in KHSAA history. The 73 combined runs in one game is also the new KHSAA record.
  16. Did he play in 1944? My Brooksville Polar Bears beat Newport in the region finals that year and was state runner-up. I think they were the only two teams in the region though. LOL.

  18. Every student in KY brings them a base SEEK amount of $4,200. That gives them an incentive to accept every student because they get the money from the state on top of what they charge for tuition. Here is FTISD Criteria. I'm sure #5 would include athletic talent.
