Fleming County (2-0) heads to Mason County (0-2) for this rivalry matchup.

It's good to see Fleming off to a fast start, but I like Mason in a close one at home. I think the difference in level of competition shows up here.

I believe Mason takes this by a couple of touchdowns. Fleming, although 2-0, are down from last year. Mason is also down from last year, but does have a lot of athleticism.

The Royals off to a very rough start to say the least.  But this seems to be what the Maysville community wanted.

Not sure what you are hinting.  Can you clarify?

The community never accepted an outside hire and wanted “one of their own.” Now that they got what they wanted, they off of to a rough start and better turn it around fast or they are staring at a 1 or 2 win season.  With Coach Boone as the HC and Harry Lewis as the OC, can they turn the ship around? The community wanted these two.

Seems like the Injury bug has hit Mason County pretty bad, also losing the amount of seniors is always tough on a program. Coach Boone will get it figured out and get his first win this week over Fleming County.

I had heard Scott Grizzle was offered the job if he wanted it, but turned it down.

Really surprised to hear about the reluctance for an outside hire comment.  Had great success with the last two outside hires (Buchanan and Wynn).  Stepped backwards in between the outsiders with the more local hire.

Also I think people forget an outside hire was made and then after 2-3 months in the program that hire resigned. Which left Mason County having to find a football coach the first of June. Coach Boone has been in the program and he knows it Mason didn't have many options after that situation unfolded.

Jonathan Thomas was an EXCELLENT hire to replace me.  The record does not indicate that, but he was. A combination of some things outside of his control made that a tough stretch.  But, his work certainly held the program together during a tough time in regards to results and contributed to the good times to follow. He was offered the Transportation Director job at the district level because he is an exceptional leader. He made the right decision for his family... big pay raise that will change his retirement, dramatically. Great move for his family and their future.

1998, we are at West Carter. 1-8. We are losing. West blocks our FG attempt. A Comet DB scoops it and is headed to the endzone. Our big OT, #54, is huffing & puffing, everything he has got, to catch him. He dives and barely tackles him to prevent a TD.

AFTER that play, we went 55-12, won two region titles, first in school history. Hard to believe now, but October 0f 1999 was the first time Mason County was ever ranked in the Top Ten of the AP Poll.

Big #54...JONATHAN THOMAS.

Good luck to the Royals tonight.

In memory of Tom Duncan, I will say, "Word out of Flemingsburg is they are going to run the ball on you and you can't stop them." I would get so torn up. Finally realized he was just making that up. Good grief... wonderful days and wonderful people. Will always love the Royals.

Mason County led 14-0 at halftime. That was over an hour ago. Possible weather delay in Maysville.
