  1. I saw on the Reds site that Winker was out with a sore shoulder so that answers my one concern about that decision.
  2. Really questioning a couple of moves that Rigglemen made tonight but since I was at the game I couldn't hear any of the broadcast to know if they were justified or not. The 1st move was not walking Munoz with 1st base open and Fowler on 2nd with 2 outs in the 7th. The pitcher was on deck and Shildt would have either had to pull his pitcher with a no hitter going or let him hit. I force Shildt to make that decision every day. The 2nd was pinch hitting a cold Barnhart in the 11th with 2 on and 1 out with a hot hitting Winker on the bench. Was Winker not available to hit?
  3. Hopefully coming off the mat like that can get them on the same track they were on prior to the break. It would be nice to get Schebler back tomorrow. I wish I could feel good about Homer being back on the bump tonight. Let's cross our fingers. The Reds face another rookie tonight and I guess given their track record with first time appearances for opposing pitchers it's safe to assume they won't hit. I doubt that Homer will give us a start like Castillo, albeit less than 6 innings again. At least the staff kept Carpenter in the yard last night.
  4. You should have yelled it multiple times like Thom Brennaman did. I guess he thought he was announcing a world series game.
  5. Most casual golfers think they have to stay just ahead of the group behind them instead of keeping up with the group ahead of them.
  6. The Reds come out of the all-star break and suddenly forgot how to hit.
  7. Second half of the season starting off like the first. Let's hope a total meltdown doesn't take place.
  8. In a heartbeat but I doubt the Mets would go for 1 to 1, it would take more than Senzel. DeGrom is under control for 3 more years.
  9. Tremendous comeback for the Reds. Really liked the way some of the batters worked the count against Allen. This team is becoming fun to watch and I hope they can maintain some semblance of competitiveness up to and through the break. Let's just hope that the front office doesn't force Homer into the pitching mix. I think at this juncture he would just be a cancer on this young pitching staff.
  10. Billy Hamilton just got some of his own medicine. Stupid lob throw into the infield. Come on guys you have to be smarter than that.
  11. I totally agree. His last 30 days his OBP is .375 and for the season .322. Last year it was only .297 but in half a season in 2016 it was .352 with only 7 walks.
  12. Where do you get this type of stat? I would be interested in looking at them.
  13. Imo Peraza has made an amazing amount of improvement in his batting eye.
  14. I got to looking at this a little deeper and maybe this is common across baseball. I looked at all the division leaders and most of their starters aren't going much deeper, even the American league teams. Interesting stats: Cincinnati 15g starters innings 86.1 Milwaukee 15g starters innings 85.1 Atlanta 15g starters innings 79.2 Arizona 15g starters innings 84.0 Boston 15g starters innings 82.0 Houston 15g starters innings 92.1 Cleveland 15g starters innings 83.2
  15. Why do you think his HR and RBI numbers are where they are, 8 and 43? Last year at the All-star break he had 26 HRs and 68 RBIs, after the break he fell to 10 HRs and 32 RBIs. Are HRs down across baseball? Is he just not trying to hit HRs? I have no problem with Votto's overall numbers but I would like to see him be a little more aggressive in certain situations but maybe he takes the same approach regardless.
  16. They can use a off day today and I'm sure they can really use the All-star break. They are getting used so much they need a collective break. Starters are going to have to go longer than 5 innings or they'll be spent for sure. Since their last off day on June 18th here are the starters innings. 9 of 16 games they haven't gotten to the 6th. Romano 5.0, 5.0, 5.0 7.0 DeSclafani 5.1, 6.1, 6.1 Castillo 6.2, 4.0, 5.2 Harvey 5.2 (rain delay), 6.2, 6.0 Mahle 5.2, 5.0, 6.0
  17. They should have never been in that situation but Engle's bunt should have been ruled runner interference He NEVER got off the grass into the runner's box all the way to 1st. Suarez gets charged with an error and Gennett could have been hurt bad on the play. That is definitely a play that should be reviewable.
  18. Didn't see any of the game but was wondering why Riggleman pulled Harvey winning 3-0 and only allowing 2 hits with 2 outs and 1 on in the 6th and only 68 pitches.
  19. You keep harping on Cincy being a bad sports city. What exactly makes a city a good one?
  20. Nobody is complaining about Votto's numbers. It's obvious that they are very good, but how much better could his rbi #s be if he was a little more agressive in certain situations. After all the Reds aren't paying him $25m/year to just get on base. If they wanted that they would have him batting leadoff.
  21. I think you are totally missing the point on some things. I'll take Joey Votto over just about anybody in today's game but I just wish that he wouldn't be so darn selective in certain situations. Bases loaded, 3 and 2, and 2 outs should be a situation where he should thrive. I'm sure there are stats on how he has done historically in that situation and if you can show me stats that show he usually does then I'll lighten up on him and quit calling him an "airhead".
