  1. Except when the umpire calls it a strike. When you are depending on a human to call that pitch a ball all the time you are taking a huge chance. Joey is such a good hitter going the other way that he could have cleaned the bases in this instance but he took what he thought was ball 4, (and it very well could have been), and the ump called it strike 3. My point is that in the situation Joey would have been better served in taking it to left or fouling it off than going down looking with the bases loaded. My only complaint with the situation.
  2. I'm sorry but Joey Votto, (yes as great a hitter as he is and with as great a batting eye as he has), can't be taking pitches 1/2" off the plate with a full count, bases loaded and 2 outs! If you don't think that's a mental thing then I am sorry. Maybe Joey Votto being an airhead is what makes him great at baseball but I think he could be much better if he didn't let the mental part get in his way sometimes, just mho!
  3. It's amazing what a decent run of starts from the starters can do to get the offense going. Nice little stretch by the Redlegs. Let's get a sweep Jim don't throw your throwaway lineup out there Sunday and go into Atlanta on a real roll. Let's see if Maddon plays his bench tomorrow.
  4. As much as I love Votto he at times is just an "airhead".
  5. Yeah and ESPN will air that Laettner shot another thousand times!
  6. Do they not have social media in Cleveland or get their games on tv? Even Cleveland fills 87% of their stadium at home. The Bengals are next to the worst of any team in the NFL on a % basis at 81%. Except for the LA Rams who are are trying to fill a 93k seat arena with 67.7% in a city that is as fickle as they come about sports no one else is near the Bengals. Ther are 19 teams that fill their stadium at 95% or better and 9 of those are over 100%. Do they not have televised games and social media? I'm not buying your reasoning at all. That's your opinion and like they say about opinions everybody has one. Heck the bengals as late as 2016 filled Paul Brown at 92% or better.
  7. Were you not around to watch the Super Bowl teams of 88 or 92 or the Big Red teams of the 70s or 1990 or 1995. This town was and could get excited about their teams if they had people running the teams that made efforts to win it all. Most people I know don't accept mediocrity when they're shelling out their hard earned cash. They will if they think ownership cares about trying to win and right now it doesn't look like that is the case for either the Bengals or the Reds.
  8. Did you just gloss over what I said about Mike Brown and his stooges? If you don't think that a good amount of people in this area hate Mike Brown, Marvin Lewis and the way they run this franchise then you really are naive. Ask around outside your circle as I assume you are an avid fan and have friends who probably feel the same as you. Most of the people I know will not throw money at the Bengals knowing that they will probably be disappointed in the end because of the stooges in charge. It is not cheap to go to Bengals games and if you feel you already know the season will end in an early playoff exit as it did 5 years in a row you can't get excited about the team. If you keep doing the same things and getting the same results you need to make some changes. I for one am not satisfied with a wild card loss. We all know Mike Brown is ecstatic about that but if I'm shelling out $500 a game I want to watch a team that I feel has a chance to win the Super Bowl. Until that changes the fans of Cincinnati are not going to the games and that won't change until they hire a coach that can get them there.
  9. Yeah it was the LA Chargers and they played in a soccer facility that seats 27,000.
  10. The fact that Cincinnati has the lowest home attendance of any team but the LA Rams is not due just to the factors that you state here. A whole lot of it has to do with Mike Brown and his stooges and their inability to put a quality product on the field.
  11. Reeks of desperation. I abandoned my seat licenses 7 years ago in the club level and they still call me every June to see if I am interested in getting those same seats just for the cost of the tickets, no additional seat license fee.
  12. Kansas City is just a bad team. The Reds can handle teams like this.
  13. Maybe it's time to give up on Duvall and slide Scooter to LF. That would open up 2nd for Senzel or even Hererra to get some MLB ABs.
  14. Do we really have 4 pages of discussion about classes in baseball and seeding?
  15. It's very hard to watch these young pitchers of the Reds. Who in the heck is calling the pitches; the catcher, the manager or the pitcher himself. They don't have a clue how to pitch. I watched them walk Carpenter last night 3 times. He's a .228 hitter with not a lot of power. Now granted he is a very good leadoff hitter because he will take a walk. The Reds pitchers pitch him like he is Babe Ruth. They don't challenge him early in the count and when he gets ahead he is a hard out. The other day Castillo was rolling along and started nibbling on pitches and loaded the bases. He got ahead of San Diego's pinch hitter Spangenberg and tried to get him out on his 3rd best pitch which he hangs. Grand slam HR! Today he walks leadoff hitter Wacha after trying to get him out on nothing but fastballs which he fouls off until he gets the walk. Reds killer Molina comes to the plate after another walk and a hit and cleans the bases. I ask again, who is calling the pitches? Do they just let Castillo and these other young pitchers pitch their own games? I like Barnhart but is he not a good signal caller?
  16. Heard cowboy say last night that since the 4 HR night for Gennett last year he has 36 HRs, 119 RBIs and .316 average.
  17. Last 30 days 1 HR and 5 RBIs, .340 avg. Gennett last 30 days 9 HRs and 28 RBIs, .414 avg.
  18. Select Josiah Gray at #72 in the 2nd round, 6'0" 190 RHP, D2 baseball's best prospect. MLB Draft profile: Le Moyne’s flame-throwing ace Josiah Gray - Minor League Ball
  19. Select Lyon Richardson at #47 in the 2nd round, 6'2" 185 RHP, Jensen Beach HS, FL. A Florida commit. Jensen Beach pitcher Lyon Richardson selected in MLB draft 2nd round
  20. Here's that article. More Cincinnati Reds changes likely in the offing
  21. Anyone know if he plans to coach long enough to surpass Bill Miller with 1132 wins? I am assuming Miller retired from PRP after the 2017 season. Then of course you have Mac Whitaker who is 2nd and still coaching Harrison Co with 1102 wins through this season and probably needs 2 seasons to pass Miller. So I guess he would be chasing Whitaker as long as they both continue coaching.
  22. Feel the same way. He got pushed around on defense and when he got beat he could only foul. Very one dimensional imo.
