Last 3-peat in the 9th?

Congrats to both Highlands and Conner. They've become mainstays in the 9th region tourney.

Birds 3 years in a row as champs. 4 straight years and 5 of the last 6 years in the finals.

Conner with a championship in 2014 and the 3rd time since 2011 in the finals.

Just searched the KHSAA scoreboard -- it only goes back to 1999. The only other repeat champion is NCC ('11 & '12).

Big battle against stud pitcher at Johnson Central from the 15th.

Who won the region in 95? Highlands won in 96 and 97 with Glaser/Pfetzer dealing.

One bad inning for Conner. The ball Finfrock hit should have been an out and a SAC fly but instead two runs score, Finfrock goes to 2nd, runner on first goes to 3rd. Both score on a hit.

That's sports. Don't make mistakes and if your opponent does capitalize on them.

Rom and Kelly in round 1 will be the pitching matchup of the first round of the state tourney.

Congrats to Kyle Rust for being tournament MVP.

You think Rom starts rather than Doty?

Congrats to Kyle Rust for being tournament MVP.

Totally deserved it. Had great ABs every time he was up there. Hit the ball hard even when he made outs. Handled the pitching staff very well and was a wall behind the dish.

Hard to believe a player that got all 3 Ws in the 9th Region (I assume he got the W on TUE even though he only had 2+ IP given it was a 5 inning affair and Birds were up big when he was pulled to allow him to come back THU), batted 5th and played RF did not win the MVP. Maybe the blown save cost him?
