Do me a favor... pitch Rom against Beechwood next year. We will make it to State. Doty is a much better pitcher...

Sure you will.

Cord...looking forward to that match-up. Sounds like some good baseball.

However, the big prize is still out there for 2017 and after years of watching baseball in the 9th region there is one thing that you can count on, Baioni has a plan...

Good Luck, Birds!

Rom - Michigan Commit

Doty - Otterbien Commit

Nuff said.........with all due respect, Rom is the better pitcher hands down. Way more upside, more polished. If Doty was better D1 would be knocking on his door.

There's a better college prospect and the right pitcher for the game. I would not be surprised to see Doty get the start.

Rom and Doty are both quality pitchers. Rom was dealt a better hand, left hand to be exact.

Drew Rom is getting so much shade in here that he can ditch his sunglasses.

I would have to agree with Clyde. I think that the coaching staff will match up the right pitcher against the right team with a not so narrow lens. Both are unproven in State play. Neither Rom nor Doty has pitched a college inning and both have plenty to prove with the upcoming opportunity. You can't really expect one or the other to go a full seven (although it would be nice). Someone has to be on tap as any pitcher (D1, D2, D3 commit) will be on a short leash. I say that you will see them both unless the Birds jump on Johnson Central early and build a nice cushion.

Just proof that these kids are worth talking about... Who has a breakdown on Kelley/ Kelly from Johnson Central?

Someone explain to me how Doty doesn't make the all tourney team. He takes 'arguably' the best offensive team out out of the tourney and he doesn't make the team? Not only that.... he shuts down Beechwood and leaves the game and Rom gives up the tying run of the game...so they bring back Doty to win....and Rom makes the all tourney team? seems like a joke.

Ask the coach. The players on all tourney team are turned in by their own coaches.

A big difference in Rom vw BW and Rom vs Conner was the ability for Jeremy to get him bullpen pitches vs Conner vs only 8 warmup pitches vs BW. I was told his velocity vs BW was in the low 80s and it was mid to high 80s vs Conner. Good use of the re-entry rule to get him loosened up in the final game.

Agreed. Hands down the best coach in the 9th.

Apologies. I'm pretty sure that beer authored or co authored this comment. I'm sure if you look back to last year I was hoping that we got another crack at Doty. I'm not smart.
