I'd love to include Christian County but I don't even think we are the top team in the 8th district right now. We struggled with a bad Russellville team in the first half and almost lost to a decent mayfield team. We need Cory Trice back NOW...

Not a hater at all. Just a neutral observer. I always root for whoever comes out of district 8 in the region and state.

Would hoptown have won? NO, i don't think so. Would they have had a better chance, for sure. Will they win at hoptown if they have those guys back. Probably. If you're going to play the what if game, you have to look at it from UHA's perspective. What if Hollowell isn't battling a bad ankle the entire night? What if McGowan, Hollowell, Lovan and the other big guy don't all have 4 fouls half way through the 3rd quarter? Again, I'm not trying to hate. But playing the "what if" game goes both ways.

Like i've said many times on here. Believing anything that is said publicly about the cager situation is foolish. EVERY SINGLE bit of the "he's going to be back this week" news has been false EVERY TIME. And even Hoptown only lists toliver at 6'4. If he's an inch over 6'2 then i'm the pope. I've known the kid for 10 years. He's not 6'4-6'6. Great kid. Lots of potential but hasn't lived up to it at all. And don't take this as me hating on hoptown. I'm a county fan but you can't deny the success they've had. But the "house of cards" is starting to crumble just a bit over there. A guy like Haworth has a certain shelf life. I'm afraid that's coming to an end. Great run but things are pretty tough over there right now. After this year it could be even tougher.

I’d add that Christian County got kolbe langhi back and expect trice back in 2-3 weeks. And I would also add that kj crump is a top 5 freshman in the state and top 5-10 player in the region at uha. The kid is terrific and played a very solid floor game last night. Uha has the best player in West ky. Maybe the state. So they let Him do his thing. But they are more than just him. And when we get trice back we will be more than just ware. I have also heard that johnson’s Injury is far more serious than people are admitting.

Cager will be back at the end of February at the soonest. He still has some requirements to meet to get back BY THAT DATE. requirements he has continually not met. The "talk" that he will be back soon just isn't to be believed. I'll leave it at that. In terms of the outcome of the game. Toliver has done next to nothing this year. I've heard the hype but haven't seen the results. Is he better than 23 who played so well last night? A healthy jalen johnson definetly has an impact, but does he swing things that drastically? Especially considering that the UHA guys besides Tandy didn't do much? For every "what if" for Hoptown, there was one for UHA too. Let's be real. As a neutral observer (love my colonels) the fouls called on mcgowan and holowell were absurd. if those two guys don't sit half the game with foul trouble it's likely a slaughter. And as far as uha's defense. In the past, yes, they've struggled on defense. But if you look at their games to this point, they've played much better defense. Against Graves County they defended very well, holding them to their lowest output of the season. And last night, the "high" score was more about pace than defense. They forced hoptown into a ton of 3's and kept the athletes out of the lane. Hoptown stayed in it early making a few of those 3's. But when they went cold any chance of winning went away. Again, I think hoptown will have a nice team IF they get Jalen and Shorty back. But I wouldn't be so sure that they will. And even with them I think the district is a toss up. Not trying to be argumentative but I think those orange colored glasses are skewing some opinions and creating some excuses. Really appreciate the 2nd region discussion.

He is a lot of fun to watch. I will be very surprised if anybody goes undefeated in district this year. It's going to be a lot of fun.

No - that is not a misprint. The worries I had about the Colonels reared their head last night. I didn't go to the game as I wanted to stay and watch UHA and HOptown. But Ware was off, only had 19 and we were down 21-0 to start the game. We don't have a natural point guard. Some are saying trice will fill that role but I don't see it. Once Hoptown gets their guys back (if they do, several folks think Johnson is done for the year and Cager won't meet the "requirements" to be able to come back) I think we may end up 3rd in the district. After watching UHA last night I think they have to be the region 2 favorite. Anyway, hopefully the Colonels can rebound and get back on track, but I worry that when we play teams that know how to defend us we will have a lot of trouble scoring. Coach Stovall can only do so much. (He's done a ton this year)

Really fun high school game. Kyky Tandy played his best game as a blazer and had 42 in a dominant and efficient performance. Hopkinsville was without 2 starters in toliver and Johnson’s. University heights did have Taquan hollowell despite an ankle sprain. Uha controled the game for the most part leading by 14 with 30 seconds left. Heights battled big time foul trouble with McGowan, Hollowell, Dorsey and Lovan all having 3 in the first half and 4 mid way through the 3rd. All were sitting for very long stretches. Some will say that Johnson and toliver would have made the difference but I don’t think anything was stopping tandy tonight. Butler, Iowa State, Oklahoma, Florida and wku all had coaches in attendance.

Yes they can... But it's kind of silly. Hoptown has a varsity starter that they also start on their freshman team. Not sure why they would do that?

My Christian County Cols look to have a special team. And they still have 2 starters out. langhi could return in within the next two weeks and Trice within the next 3-4 weeks. Graves County looks tough too. I'll be interested to see how UHA from the 8th district does over the next two weeks. THeir one loss is to #20 Graves on a night when they played very poorly. If they can beat hoptown tomorrow as well as Paducah Tilghman in a couple of weeks I'd think they would get a crack at the top 20.

True, it was a 5 point game. But at no point did Christian County lose control. They did cut it to a 5 point lead but county built leads into double figures throughout the entire game. it as the classic "it might have been close a few times but was never in doubt" game. Madisonville has some good young talent. but I like the Colonels as the early season #1 team in region 2.

Ware went off again for 37 and the Colonels controled this one most of the way. I believe Ware was 18-20 from the line. Madisonville was in foul trouble from the opening whistle. Even as a county fan I can see how they may have not been very happy with how things were called. It seemed that they couldn't breathe on T-Ware. (I'm fine with him getting the Jordan Treatment)... :ylsuper: Early in the year I think this cements the Colonels as the #1 team in the region. T-Ware's weight loss along with Coach Stovall's influence has really gotten us playing well. The big question is, when we have a night when Ware isn't hitting his shots, can we make up for it elsewhere?

In terms of other games in region 2. Fort Campbell with an impressive win vs. Trigg. I think Ft. Campbell could be the best small school (besides UHA) in the region this year. They are pretty athletic and have several guys. (THeir KHSAA roster is not accurate)

I think after last night Christian County is the clear #1 team. They beat the pre-season region 1 favorite soundly on the road and just beat madisonville on the road last night. Easily. I just think Hoptown has too much turmoil right now to put them in the top 3. Lots of rumors flying about the severity of Johnson's injury. To me, he's more important for Hoptown because of his leadership and "calming" effect. Even if they were to get cager back this week I think Johnson's issues are even more important.

Who do you think is the best team? I certainly don't think it's hoptown if Johnson is going to be battling a knee injury all year. I think there is a "chance" uha might be the best but I think it's county right now based on their body of work. However, don't discount graves. They stuck with one of the best teams in tennessee in Blackman. They are a GREAT program and team. Average something like 25 wins a year the last 5 seasons with a state title 3 years ago.

Madisonville is the interesting team. Blow out Davies and then struggle a bit with a very average Muhlenberg team... I'd put Madisonville at #2 right now and have hoptown and UHA tied for 3rd. IF we get Trice back I think County can be the clear cut #1 team in region 2. Reports are that he "could" be back by the end of this month. Thanks again for the write up
