  1. Nicholas and Toliver. I'm not sure if Tefrell is tough enough to guard Ware. I'd go with James. Heights pretty much shut him down with Holowell on him but I'm not sure Tefrel or James have Holowell's motor.
  2. The game against Graves will be interesting. But we all know Graves took a hit when their big guy went down. The game against County will be a war...
  3. It's more than the king of the bluegrass. The KOB is an invitational. This is an "open" tournament for all teams under a certain enrollment. The way some are looking at this, there wouldn't be a state title for any sport that is "classed" for enrollment. It's not the sweet 16 but it's more than just a "holiday" tournament.
  4. Bryan station Fits the bill of a lot of past "they shouldn't be as good as they are" teams. A. They are a veteran team. B. They have a stud C. They are athletic All of those things add up to being really good when it matters most.
  5. Bryan Station plays so hard.. You look and don't think they should win a game like this but they just figure out a way to compete.
  6. University heights has done it several times through the years.
  7. It's just as necessary in those sports as it is in any other. In fact, in Track the "pool of athletes" is more important than basketball or baseball. You've got to have a very deep team to have a chance at winning a track state title. Sure on the individual side of things it's not important. But for the team scoring it's incredibly important.
  8. The issue with attendance at the Sweet 16 is the same reason attendance is down at all sporting events. There are a # of factors driving this. A. other things to do... People now have more things to do and more time commitments... B. Cost - While the economy is doing well, hotel room prices are soaring across the country because of increased demand. The fans who used to travel to see the entire sweet 16 aren't "upper class" spenders with a ton of disposable income. They are hard working folks who aren't excited about shelling out $175 a night for a room. When the economy sank a decade ago people decided to stop spending disposable dollars on sports and they got out of the habit. C. People attend "fewer" other games. Folks who used to attend the Sweet 16 also used to make a habit of attending a lot of other games throughout the year. So the habit or "fun" of going to "games" is losing it's luster... Most folks look at things through a microscope. In the case of the Sweet 16 one just needs to look at sports a whole to understand why people aren't attending games. Every major sport has seen a sharp decline. NFL, NBA, MLB, College Football, College Basketball etc... No reason to think this trend wouldn't hit the Sweet 16.
  9. They don’t have programs? The khsaa really is a mini NCAA. Completely tone deaf.
  10. Per Chris Jung - six “all a” region 2 titles in a row for UHA. Talk to a friend who was there. He said that he thinks if district 5 doesn’t draw district 8 that Livingston will win a game in the regional tournament.
  11. Track isn’t s team sport? Weird. I thought they awarded team state championships on track and cross country? When did this stop?
  12. The folks at uha don’t say they “won state” or are “going to state”. They do say that they won “all a”. They also have banners that note when they won “all a”. They treat like it should Be. It’s a big deal but it isn’t “state”. They have a banner just for their state title.
  13. Yeah. But it won't get far. Eventually, just like the all a, the khsaa will like the all "2a" because it will do the same thing the all a has done. Every year, Union, Trigg, Webster or Hopkins Central will get to go to "state"...
  14. I think this discussion reinforces why the all a and now the all "2a" might be the best way to accomplish what everybody wants. I've attended several all a tournaments through the years and they are very fun. I have had friends who had kids at University Heights and I've gone to the semi-finals or finals. I'm glad it's back at EKU. the crowds will be better. I like the idea of having the big midseason tournament and then the big state tournament at the end of the year. In a lot of the rural parts of the state, the all a region champion has a chance to get to the sweet 16. Buckhorn was an example several years back. UHA multiple years. I think we have the best of both worlds. Why screw it up. Keep the sweet 16 and embrace the mid season all a and all "2a".
  15. No other way to cut it. This is a massive upset. Consider this common opponent. Robertson County lost by 35 to estill county. Paris Beat estil by 4. That's insane. I love big upsets by this. On that note... Keep an eye on Frankfort vs. LCA. Frankly, it wouldn't be as big of an upset as this. But I think Frankfort's athleticism could give LCA trouble in that game.
  16. THis is what I've seen too. it looks like they will finish the season as a team
  17. I hope not too. But the public schools have floated the idea of making private schools play “up” for years.
  18. The lack of insurance is probably the biggest issue. Massive liability issue for the taxpayers.
  19. Prediction. All a public schools will lobby the all a to force private schools to play in the "all 2a".
  20. Or they just let them continue to play as Cordia the rest of this season.
