The brackets for the 2018 All "A" State Tournament were released today.

The tournament returns to Richmond and will be held in McBrayer Arena on the campus of Eastern Kentucky University.

 

The tournament runs from Thursday, January 25th through Sunday, January 28th.

The 10th Region "A" Champ gets the winner of Region 4 in the 9:30pm Thursday night, January 24th contest - what we affectionately call "The Midnight Special."

The game rarely starts on time, and has been known to finish after midnight.

(Try getting pizza delivered in Richmond at that time of night.)

 

The 2017 10th Region "A" Champ was the Paris Greyhounds who are the defending State "A" Champs, after having defeated NCC in the "A" State finals.

 

The 2017 Champion of Region 4 is Russellville who played into the Semi-Finals before being eliminated by NCC in overtime.

University Heights Vs. Lexington Christian. That will be a great first round game. 2 of the top 3 or 4 teams there....

Good point. I'm hoping Heights gets to play Mayfield in the Tilghman tourney this Friday. I'd say they will beat Hoptown. The Valley game will be interesting... It's hard to know how good or bad those Louisville teams are.

I realize we are all counting the chicks before the eggs hatch, but I would delete Paris and install Walton-Verona. I really do believe LCA will be the team to beat.

I know LCA has some size. Who are their other key contributors?

Will Walton-Verona have their entire team by that time? Seems like I read in another thread that they have a key player injured?

A lot of the preseason picks in the November KHSAA Sweet 16 Contest has them to win the 8th region.

WV big man Dieonte Miles was injured on 12/5 and sustained a 2-4 week injury from what I was told by people around the program. That would hopefully put him back in by the end of this month and in plenty of time for the 8th region all A.

Mayfield and Newport are both in the Apollo Invitational this coming week. Maybe they will match up there and we will see who is the better team at this point
