  1. If there was an angry reaction for posts you'd have about 50 of them lol
  2. I'd put my hat in for either Ja'Hyde Brown or Tyler Fryman. From what I saw of them last year in person, they are incredible athletes that can change the outcome of a game all on their own. I think Zane Johnson/Seneca Driver are both up there as well for me, but it's more from what I hear or saw on film rather than what I saw in person. Brown and Fryman can take the ball and make some magic happen. Brown against Ryle was just a dazzling show of skill: 8 receptions for 153 yds (19.1 per rec) 1 KO ret for TD Fryman in Beechwood's worst game against their toughest opponent (CovCath) had: 6 carries for 44 yds (7.3 per carry) 6 receptions for 104 yds (17.3 per rec) 1 TD 7 tackles, 1 FF, 1 FR To be able to control a game from a position other than QB is a statement of talent and is tough to overlook. Either one can take a punt/KO for a TD at a moments notice. I would almost give the advantage to Fryman for what he adds on the defensive side as well. Just my 2 cents.
  3. This is from the NKY High School Football FB page, but it looks like interviews will be conducted next week. Assuming to get someone hired by Feb 1st?
  4. I feel like the point being missed here is that just because the head coach resigned, retired, or was fired, doesn't mean that everything just stops within the program. There are still the assistants that were in place that can keep things going, not necessarily just putting a parent in there but that could work as well with the right parents. The head coach is integral to putting in place and managing the system for how the program runs. He puts the right people in place to make things run smoothly. Coach Trosper and Coach Rash both had a good support system. And anyone that is interested in taking their place as HFC would most definitely be a presence in that weight room.
  5. I survived as a fan through the 90s and early 00s, I can handle a couple of mediocre years lol
  6. I would imagine the assistants that are still in the program or teaching at the school would take charge and run the show, at least that is my experience in the past. There are many capable people on that staff outside of the head coach.
  7. I'm sure this has been a topic in the past, but just looking through the 23-24 data to compile the 25-26 alignment, how is Central still in 3A? Granted the average number of boys is ~410, which puts it in line with other 3A school. But with an overall enrollment of 1240, it seems to defy the trend across the state with enrollment numbers, ranging more closely to 50/50 (+/-1%) boys to girls. Maybe I'm missing something but seemed odd to me.
  8. He was a Sr this past year. I agree that it won’t be a plug and play situation where someone is going to come in and star, but there are some talented kids coming up that can take over.
  9. I guess that's why he didn't want to comment on the situation lol Regardless of who the superintendent is it looks bad on the school and school district to handle this in the manner that they have. Granted we only have the word of one side, but it's not like we're talking about a perennial cellar dweller. They were in the state championship game in 2021 and positioned well to win it. If they want to replace him with a coach as good or better, then they better start getting out ahead of this before the wheels fall off. Not fair for Coach Benton or the kids at all.
  10. 2025 was a chance at a special year for the Ryle Raiders with the amount of returning starters coming back from a State Championship Runner-Up finish in 2024. There were many thoughts that this could even be the 2nd best team in the state, potentially giving Trinity all they could ask for in the big game. But alas, injuries played a huge role in their post season loss to eventual runner-up South Warren (outside of SW being very good), and what was “meant to be” was never able to come to fruition. ? Nathan Verax (QB) | Jacob Savage (RB/LB) | Dameyn Anness (RB/DB) | Dylan Lee (WR/DB) | Kyle Beatty (OL) | Eli Caldwell (OL) | David Evans (OL) | Kai Workman (LB) | Max Karwath (TE/DE) | Bo Gay (DE) | Aysaiah Riddick (DE/DT) | Jack Rehill (T/DT) | Bredyn Elder (WR/DB) | Gavin Moses (K) ? Shauncey Wynn (TE/LB) | Evan Kincaid (WR/DB) | Andrew Smith (WR/DB) | Grant Foley (WR/DB) | Xavier Collines (RB/LB) | Cruze Sauley (WR/DB) | Jesse Nunn (DE/LB) | Max Neumann (OL/DL) | Eliot Lageman (OL/DL) There really is no way to replace multiple year, 2-way starter Jacob Savage. The Paul Horning Award winner will be taking that talent to the potential National Champion Indiana Hoosiers and leaving a large hole to fill in both backfields. But the Raiders have a stocked cupboard and will do their best to try and replace his production, even if it is through quantity more than quality. Shauncey Wynn, Xavier Collins, Grant Foley, and Jesse Nunn are all talented players who can help close up some of that void on both sides. Evan Kincaid will also help control the sidelines on defense after his 7 INT tied for the lead in all of 6A. 2026 will also mark the 1st time since 2020 that there won’t be a Verax starting under center for the Raiders! That continuity will almost be as tough to replace as Savage! But again, there is stock in the cupboard and the potential is there. Wynn, Cole Welter, Charlie Park, and Brody Smith will all be given the opportunity to take the reins and lead the Raiders. Smith is the younger brother of current UL DL Dillon Smith and could potentially take the job as a sophomore with his size and arm strength. Cruze Sauley, Kincaid, and Wynn will be capable targets for whomever is decided as the starting QB. It is definitely a reloading year, but the pieces are still there for the Ryle Raiders to have a very successful 2026 season! (Teams and locations below are assumed, order will be determined) Covington Catholic (H) Conner (A) Cooper (A) CAL (A) Highlands (H) Tates Creek (A) Campbell County (H) Great Crossing (H) Simon Kenton (A) Dixie Heights (A)
  11. It was a tough season as the record goes for Gallatin but Coach Honaker did a lot of good in helping build excitement within the program and help establish a positive culture and future foundation. He is going to do great things at Campbell County!
  12. All 3 are equally deserving of Mr Football, not one of them is a wrong choice! My heart says Savage of course, but head says Hampton based upon stats and the state championship win.
  13. Barring some upsets, it might be the last opportunity at home this season.
  14. Ballard (5-6) travels to Union to face Ryle (8-3) this Friday, 11/14. Game time is 7:00 PM. The Bruins are coming into the game after a nice win at home in the 1st round against Campbell County, 35-21, and are led by SR QB Larry Irvin. The Raiders come into the game after a 1st half running clock against Eastern that led to a 48-0 final score. They look to continue to punish people on the ground behind Savage, Anness, and Verax. Does Ballard have enough to stop the Raiders? Or will the clock keep spinning until the Raiders face Trinity or FD? Cloudy with temps in the low 50s come gametime.
  15. Eastern (2-8) travels to Union to face Ryle (7-3) this Friday, 11/7, gametime 7:00 pm. The Eagles come into the game having beaten Dunbar 27-6 last week but only having 1 win in their first 9 games prior. The Raiders are coming off of a 63-20 beatdown of Dixie and have won 5 straight, building up steam going into the playoffs. Normally I will pose a question here like "does Eastern have the run defense to slow down Ryle?" but it just doesn't seem the place here. Name the score, win a cookie. It's November and could rain, so dress accordingly for those attending 1st round games.
  16. Give the team the option to say no. If the school wants to handle the transportation cost and the opposing team is for it, go down the RPI rankings and take the next best available that says they want to play. Some of the seniors on the teams that missed the playoffs might like one more week of football.
  17. I have to agree with Guru on this. I would imagine Ryle trying to control the clock with their rushing attack, but they still have a solid QB in Verax and great receivers in Lee and Lyons. Defensively there is still Savage roaming the field, and you've got a couple of ballhawks in Kincaid and Lee in the defensive backfield.
  18. Dixie Heights (4-5) travels to Union to take on Ryle (6-3) on a rare Thursday night game with Halloween coming on Friday this year. Game time is 7:00 PM. The Colonels come into the game having won 4 of their last 5 games after starting the season 0-4. They're led by SR QB Mason Fields, who is a top 5 passer in 5A. The Raiders are on 4 game blowout win streak and are finally getting somewhat healthy. Led by the rushing attack of Jacob Savage and Dameyn Anness, they are a tough team to get in front of. Can Dixie get enough offense to break their 5-game losing streak to Ryle? Will Ryle keep rolling into the playoffs? Forecast shows temps dropping into the 40s at game time, but the rain that we're predicted in the middle of the week will stop earlier in the day, so fans will at least get to stay dry!
  19. Thanks for all the updates!
  20. Ryle travels to Georgetown to take on Great Crossing this Friday, 10/17. Gametime 7:30. The Raiders (4-3) come in after a running clock victory over Campbell County that saw two players rush for over 100 yds and another 200 yds in the air. The Warhawks (1-6) were beaten by Simon Kenton on the ground, 35-16, in their last game and haven't fared well against the run this season. Can Great Crossing stop the run? Or is Ryle going to run all over the field and the clocks? Looking cloudy and mid 60s for Georgetown on Friday night currently, but that could change if the wet weather for Saturday/Sunday moves in earlier.
  21. Ryle (3-3) travels to Campbell County (2-4) Friday for a 7:00 pm kick off. The Raiders come off of a win at home against Tates Creek 37-0, as well as a bye week to get some missing players healthy. Campbell County started the year off hot with 2 wins but have lost 4 straight, the last one to a struggling NewCath team at home. Will they be able to turn the tides against Ryle? Or is Ryle going to speed up the clocks against CC. Another beautiful night for football based on the current forecast! Low 60s/High 50s for game start.
  22. This question definitely intrigued me, so I went back through the record books. Last district game that Beechwood lost based on KHSAA records is against Bellevue in '05. They lost to NCC in the playoffs in '06 but beat them in the regular season district game. So amazingly enough, it's been 20 yrs since they lost a regular season district game!
  23. Tates Creek heads north to Union this Friday, the 26th, to take on Ryle at Borland Stadium. Game time is 7:30 pm. The Commodores (1-4) come into this game losing 4 straight (Bryan Station, Frederick Douglass, South Oldham, Ashland Blazer) after their opening week win against Mercer County. The Raiders (2-3) have lost 3 close games in a row (Highlands, CAL, Cooper) after starting the season with wins over Cov Cath and Conner. Which team can pull themselves back into the W column? Rain is in the forecast all week for Union, but it looks like there is a chance it can clear up right before gametime.
