Honestly I thought the same thing, I guess not. I dont guess it would have mattered last night. A total of only 22 points separated Murray, Mayfield and Caldwell in 5 games that involved 5 overtimes. Congrats to the most entertaining district in the state this year.

Mayfield only scored in the first OT. Both teams missed FG's in the second OT. Mayfield has such an impressive winning tradition having gone 90-2 at War Memorial over the last decade only losing to 6A teams both times and I dont think they have lost a home playoff game since the Lincoln adminstration lol. I hope the Murray kids know how special it is to win like that. Who knows, Murray might not win again for another 23 years but I just home we get some more games like the 2 we had this year in the future.

One of the better high school games I’ve seen. Completely agree about the 4th and goal stop. Murray has killed themselves with turnovers this year, could possibly be undefeated without them. I can’t believe they coughed it up that many times and still won being down 14. All heart and all guts! The overtime couldn’t be scripted better in Hollywood. That district this year was absolutely unbelievable to watch. All teams should be proud! Glad Murray came out on top!

I don’t disagree with some of you assessment badabing. Murray will have to generate points and it won’t be easy! They will need some field position and special teams help.

I think Murray has to score 4 times to expect to win this time. Which is no easy task, I’m not sure they can score 35. They can’t turn it over and have to generate some explosive plays especially passing. It will be close and obviously I wouldn’t be surprised if Mayfield wins. I just have a good feeling about it.

Galbreath is one heck of a player and will make a difference! There are a bunch of x factors with Mayfield not playing in a long time but I have no doubts that they will be ready. The first game was so hard fought, I hope we get the same thing this time. If your ever going to pick Murray to upset, it would have to be this year and this situation. Murray - 27 Mayfield - 24

I was expecting more by McCracken honestly.

So hard to get balance with KY districts. I’m sure that Owensboro and Owensboro Catholic would like tougher districts, though catholic has struggled the the last 2 years. And by contrast you have the other 5a wky district with several good teams. I still feel like there could be less classes in ky or cut out a round. Possibly give the option to all non qualifying playoff teams an option to schedule an 11th game they can be competitive in.

Excellent hard fought game by both sides. Great fight outta both teams! Murray got down by two scores early because of turnovers but responded to tie it before half. A wild third quarter saw both teams score a few times. Murray then built a two touchdown lead but Caldwell never went away and had a chance to drive at the end. Murray defense made some great defensive plays when they had to. 90 for Murray plays really hard and is an excellent pash rusher!

Hopkinsville - 34 Calloway - 13

Having followed Murray a little this year, I think they made a change in their scheme which has helped them a lot. They lost some games early this year almost solely on turnovers. It seems as if they realized their strength is some really good linemen, some good runners and pretty decent defense. It has given them a chance to win every game since doing that including mayfield. Murray's starting rb didnt play against caldwell the first go around so I will stick with Murray in a close one. Murray 27 Caldwell 21

What a great game! Hate it for Murray! Gutsy decision to go for two. Turnovers and field position were key in this game. Mayfield is so good at finding a way. How about this district race! I’m excited to see what happens in the playoffs but it obviously runs through war memorial. I think you raise good points BadaBing. The bottom line for Murray this year has been 6 turnovers vs Crittenden and 6 turnovers vs Tilghman and still lost in relativly close games.What was the difference in the Cladwell game? 0 turnovers. Murray hasnt beat Mayfiled tradionally and neither has anyone else. I would just like to see Murray not turn the ball over and hurt themselves and see what happens. It is as even of a matchup as its gonna get this year. Mayfield reminds me of my West Canaan teams years ago! I have a ton of respect for their football culture! Hopefully we get a great 4 quarter football game that either team can win in the end.

Should be one of the more even matchups in a long time. If Murray doesnt turn the ball over like it didnt last week there should be a chance for them to take this one. You also cant stall out offense very often against the cards. I agree with you purple88.

Murray didn’t turn it over and ran it at will. They were crippled with turnovers the last 3 weeks similar to Tilghman. It means so much!

6 turnovers from Murray tonight. Actually had more yardage than Crittenden. Turnovers got hoptown beat tonight as well and mayfield beat as badly as they did by McCracken. Can’t win games that way. They are the great equalizer!
