I don't care what you "interpreted". Agree with your last statement completely. Like I alluded to previously ... do you only want to only talk about the good times---or do you want to give the most accurate depiction of reality? (Don't worry--I know the answer there). Again ... I wasn't pointing to anything regarding "illness"--only that he wouldn't have made a difference in this game at all. If you want to keep barking up that tree ... it is obviously the wrong one. I think that most coaches are as willing to step up and take accountability for their actions as parents are willing to take accountability for the actions of their kids ..... By the way ... who is hiding again?

At this point .. there really are no weaknesses. (if anything .. they throw more to the right than to the left .. not sure that is a weakness) 2 solid backs that can run (one more physical, one a little more "shifty"). At least 4 capable/fast/varying size receivers. A 4 year starter at QB who is good with the long ball ... and good arm strength to throw the bubble (so quickly it is faster than a sweep). The 3 back/overbalanced offense could be devastating to a team that can not stop the run (but switching it up nicely with the "System" running game makes thing tougher to game plan. Don't get me started on the defense ... HUGE/quick inside. (55/65 are as good as they come) DE's play solid technique .... squeeze well enough to give the rest of the cavalry ample time to make the play. Everyone knows who number 9 is. 15 may be the most underrated player on the team ... maybe the best player right now (even though 9 has the biggest upside). Also ... (and you can trace this one back) ... you have never heard (or seen) me write anything about Mayfield's schedule. Ole' quickslick has been around enough to know when a team is good. Not to mention ... football in WKY is a different brand .. and what is weak to the uneducated (or unseen) .. isn't so weak to people who have been around the block a few times. The tailgaters are pretty awesome. They bring a great atmosphere to the game. But .. I am not sure that I can handle hearing "Tonight's gonna be a good night" again this year!

Ha, ha! Not sure I want to be part of that end zone thing guys! The atmosphere over there is pretty wild ... and I have seen the reception for outsiders! I may not make it back alive! I appreciate the hospitality from both of you .. and I am sure we will have a good time. We can make some plans later in the week.

Of course I will see Mayfield ... you should know better by now. (Heck ... you never know .. I have probably either spoken to you already before ... or at the very least ...spoken with you) My thought is this ... I have complimented Mayfield over and over and over again. You have taken those compliments and twisted and turned them in to whatever it is you seem to think that they are. I have said nothing other than the FACT that Mayfield is probably one of the better teams in class A history. For whatever reason ... you guys down there in WKY seem to think that is a great insult. Beechwood respects you ... and you know it. You keep twisting that around all you want ... but it isn't going to change. Do I think that you guys actually respect Beechwood (or anyone that you play right now) ... not so much (your comments in other places speak to that). You are number 1 ... face the consequences.

Oh .. don't worry Toothpick ... we definitely "freit" over Mayfield. We all know that Scribe is a WKY blowhard. And as far as "rants" go ... I still can't figure out why you guys can't accept compliments. We here in NKY have given you MORE than your due respect. Have some class and accept the compliments. As someone who has seen Mayfield 9 times now .. you would think that I would have a clue how good they are.

Thank you for your input. Not that it really matters ... but the Class A State Championship trophy is already in Mayfield. We, in NKY, are fully aware that no one has a chance against the mighty Mayfield Cardinals. But .... thank you for your concern. Our little egos will get over it quickly. (For the record--I love it that WKY is taking over BGP).

I played on a team that was a 4 seed .. that easily handled a one seed back in 1993. The next week, we went on to beat the defending state champion (Highlands) in overtime (we were up on them at one time 20-0) The next week, we got beat by CovCath 7-3 (mainly because a DB slipped on a mysteriously soaking wet field--when there had not been rain in 3 weeks). Both teams had beaten us pretty easily earlier in the season. Which speaks to how much we improved. (Injuries were not a factor either). For these kinds of reasons alone--they need to stay. Kids (regardless of whether it is a "everyone gets a trophy" mentality) are still at a point in their life where David can beat Goliath .... there are great lessons to be learned there. Teams need to continue to push the improvement angle. If a coach truly wants to suceed .. he can use these 1st round games as something to hang his hat on.

Unlike the Kennedy assasination ... we now have the missing piece of the puzzle. I have some software at work that has the ability to measure distance and depth on pictures. According to that software .. the ball is over the plane in this picture by 1.03273 inches. I say ... great call by the ref. (And thats what we need to say .. because that guy has probably second guessed himself all week). Last point ... why is everyone laying on the ground? Geesh (and I mean that from both schools--not a smack at NCC)

No-the ball isn't "out" ... it is in the process of coming "out". If you expand the picture to the biggest size possible--he has two fingers from his right hand still on the ball. However--that still makes your point pretty valid. For people like me ... I feel like he is already across the plain ... so even if he was in the process of losing the ball ... he was already across the plain. Mex--would you agree that this isn't as cut and dry as the original poster? Or--that it wasn't as bad a call as you first thought at the game?

He had the ball in both hands (similar to what it was in the 2nd picture when he crossed over). Nearly identical. He never switched to just one arm (which makes good sense ... but this picture is indicative of how he turned with the ball--with similar hand placement).

Okay ... here are the closest .. hopefully this puts it to bed. (Credit to James Weber of NKY.com) First (clear possession from my point of view) Here is the 2nd .. where to me .. it looks like he is in the end zone. (But definitely looks like he is getting ready to lose the ball--but to me ... it has clearly crossed the plain).

I am sure crunch remembers .... and I think it holds true. Mayfield is so much better than the rest of the state ... that a win over them would rank somewhere between miracle and divine intervention. You can try to make it act like I am messing with Mayfield people ... but whatever. You guys are NOT shy about how you think things will work out. (And we both know where we can find that information--even if it isn't here). I am not real sure why you think that you should jump on my opinion for thinking the same thing. The bullseye is squarely on your back as the BEST team in Class A. The rest of us are just trying to keep up.

Good post Crunch. The person that started this thread was possibly more of a NCC fan (but I am not even certain about that). It was definitely not a Beechwood fan. I think if you also look around at other message boards (where more Mayfield fans tend to reside) ... you will see what Mayfield really thinks of everyone. Conversely ... you aren't going to see many "real" Beechwood fans post anywhere. It is what it is .... Mayfield has been around the block before. They are number one until someone proves otherwise.

Thanks Clyde. We currently have 4 kids running at the highest level in college (3 in KY D1 schools) and 6 or 7 others at smaller schools. There are only a few schools in the state that have strict standards to join their teams (the 2 most well known). The others are pretty willing to talk to any solid runners. Send me a PM or provide some more information (times--not just PR's) and we can go over the best options.

Nope .. I was in Mayfield just a week or so ago ... and noticed #9 carrying that trophy around. But ... I was hoping that you would let us borrow it for a few weeks?

Come on snake .. I was in Mayfield last week ... and personally observed the 2010 Class State Championship trophy on the sidelines. This Mayfield team is easily the best team in the history of Class A football. We already know that you are going to come up here and beat Beechwood and everyone else in your way. Heck ... the rest of us should really quit.

VOR .. not real sure where you are coming from with someone of your comments. The one thing that you didn't mention in your prior post ... was that the only way that an official would miss it ... is if he wasn't actually looking up at the ball as it went through .. with that said: 1. The official on the left side of the upright NEVER looked up to see if it was good. He looked straight ahead as opposed to whether it went through. It is on film end of story. 2. As I stated previously .. we have the zoomed in version of the ball never getting inside the goal post. It was outside .. without question. 3. The Beechwood players were absolutely livid when they came to the sidelines after the kick (more like disgusted actually). They were very vocal that it was WIDE RIGHT .. NOT SHORT like some of you have said over and over and over. And like I said .. the official actually has to look up .. which he didn't do. Kind of surprised at you VOR .... there are people in this thread who has more than "intimate" knowledge of what really happened .. but .. it is what it is. Good luck to NCC ... tough game to lose--but well fought. Good to see Chris Kelly on the field.

Pretty simple really...we zoomed in on the ball in slow motion. The goal post clearly blocked out the ball..as opposed to the ball blocking out the goal post.Hopefully that makes sense. It was pretty obvious.
