Campbell will likely be an underdog going into things early in the season. But they will surprise people. Clos and Schwarber are two of the best in NKY and that will be enough to keep them in games and beat teams. Coach knows how to get the most out of players too. Should be a fun year

You may be right about Campbell. I don't think your right about mercy. And your definitely wrong about Mason County. MC returns the same team from TWO seasons ago that was in the final four at state. Last year they didn't get where they wanted which was better than the final four. Now they are mostly seniors and bent on leaving it all on the court. They are most definitely a team that will contend this year.

Cole is definitely the difference maker. CC is a possible regional winner with him. There's no question everything changes as far as style of play. Wilson leaves and there is no way things don't change. Cole will have to step up, and he's ready for it. it's going to be a great year.

We shall see. CC surprised people last year, they will again I think. Although the top 10 ranking might have been a little bias on my part. GRC had Kennedy Igo transfer in I think. They will be tough. Definitely a 10th region favorite. Not sure about top 10 in Kentucky. Maybe top 20

Hmmm, I don't know if that fully explains it. We're not talking about teams/players that should be that affected by population size. The reason is because we're talking about the best 10 seniors in each state. Actually more like 5-6 best cause you don't really need to go that deep to win. When your talking about tens of thousands in each state I'm not sure your going to get that much difference in your elite talent. Maybe it's purely population stats but I'm not sold on that idea alone for sure. Also, the graduate numbers are more like 2/3 the state of KY vs IN, not 1/2.

Why can't Kentucky win these games? I know I'm just looking at the box scores but seems like at least one girl was killing KY with missed shots, and lots of turnovers. Are these the best girls KY has? I recognize 3-4 names, but not the others KY girls haven't won since 2008, is that correct? We're closing in on a decade here. Can someone with insight explain this more? Can't imagine IN is just a better basketball state?

If you follow AAU girls basketball you can see that there's very little in the pipeline coming up through Boone. This seems the same in several sports not just girls basketball. Other than a couple decent boys players? I think Boone girls basketball is at least 6-7 years away from ever even playing in a district final regardless of who coaches.

I find that really amazing actually, I can't believe the state of ky records the stats that way? What is the reasoning behind that? I can't imagine that helping encourage good shooting? Kids will just take more bad shots and more shots than they should

So several times in this article the number of "3point makes" is referenced as a significant stat. This is the second time I've heard this as someone was defending Curry as the best shooter ever by saying he made 400 threes this year. But when I looked up nba stats, Curry took 230 more 3pt attempts than the next highest. And in addition Curry was third in 3pt percentage. So my question as it relates to this article (maybe should be its own thread?)...since when did "made 3pt shots" become relevant? (I could make 70 threes if I shot it 1000 times). This article is the second time I've seen this stat referenced now, maybe I don't read enough about basketball. So could someone address for me the relevance of that stat and why it's being used the way it is? To me the only relevant 3pt stat should be percentage with a minimum number of shots taken.

I am curious about D1 signings too? Any from NKY area? Statewide - Green (Male) - UC Boley - ND Creech - WKU Glover - ? McCune - West Virginia The Franklin County girl - WKU Others?

Montgomery County IMHO I think Allen will be the best player in the region, he will surpass Crawford and Ohmer in all categories by the end of the next school season. I don't think Crawford is individually a dominant enough player to take the Polar Bears into the top 5. While I do think Allen is that type of player, so PC will be tough. I think Campbell is super deep and will reload with a new identity (one without the dominant big man) and they will surprise people and win games. They are too deep to not finish in the top 5 by seasons end. Lastly I do not think losing Carr will keep Scott from being a force this next year. There will be some bumps early on but by the end of the season they will be good

Not sure what I think about Creech vs the rest of the field argument. I think the people choosing the All Blue Grass preps team need to be really clear that they are picking the 10 most talented players in their opinion if that's the case. Any other criteria it seems difficult to not have Creech on the list. No one could possibly have been more valuable to their team, or no one (including Boley) attained a more notable record (all time scoring). I disagree that Creech did what the other girls on the list (besides Boley) couldn't do. I disagree and so do hundreds of college D1 scouts and coaches that would rather have the girls listed on the BGP team than Creech. To me, that's enough evidence right there. I'm not sure what players everyone is thinking of here, but I do know a sophomore Lady Camel all-state tournament team award winner oddly not on here. But to be fair, I don't know many (if barely any) of the the non-NKY players on this list. Do any of the naysayers on here claim to be familiar with all these girls to know where others missing should fit? Junior girls around NKY getting D1 offers? (Being "recruited by D1" insinuates they are offering the girl) Not sure that's accurate? Jenna Martin maybe? Ally Johnson? Would love to know who this is?

It is incorrect that it is harder or will cause more controversy. MOST states for HS athletics AND all college AND all professional seed... because it's fairer, bottom line. Ohio seeds AND has divisions and it's a far better draw for crowds and creates better games. This is just one of those backward, stubborn things that when others from outside ky look in at Kentucky it verifies the stereotypes they've heard about the state.

IMO losing the seniors CC does is not enough to take them down a notch. As another poster mentioned CC returns their leaders in scoring, assists and rebounds. Knowing what's coming up in the pipeline I believe CC will contend for the title again. This by no means is a knock on this years seniors, not at all! Their leadership and talent carried the Lady Camels to the final 8!

Just like when MC were "heavy favorites" this year and a few of us disagreed and felt Campbell would be at the top, so we will probably repeat that next year. Campbell loses a couple contributors but not the core players. New girls are ready to step up and fill roles. Campbell will reload and challenge MC (and Scott) for the title.

Punished, no. But it should be considered. A good player on a bad team who shoots more should not be given higher accolades over a better player on a good team. Here are the girls stats - Clos - 13.8 pp, 41% fg, 28% 3pt, 63% FT, 3.6 RB Jolly - 13.7 pp, 42% fg, 37% 3pt, 70% FT, 1.8 RB Kramer - 9.0 pp, 48% fg, 21% 3pt, 70% FT, 5.0 RB Igo - 18.4 pp, 43% fg, 25% 3pt, 70% FT, 3.7 RB Arnett - 16.3 pp, 34% fg, 34% 3pt, 76% FT, 4.4 RB Clephane - 19.7 pp, 43% fg, 33% 3pt, 64% FT, 4.1 RB Stapleton - 17.3 pp, 40% fg, 39% 3pt, 75% FT, 3.4 RB There's only ONE thing that stands out for the girls that got higher accolades. Points per game. So despite the fact that the CC girls shut down the MoCo girls when they played (game was never close), because they average less points a game they are voted behind the MoCo girls. And yes - better teams HAVE better players, that's why they beat those teams. There's only five girls on the court. When was the last time a losing team in the nfl or nba had league MVP's? Nothing against the players listed, they all are good and deserve to be on the list. But IMO Campbell should have had girls with higher awards.

I have no idea. And I would have no problem with Johnson winning the award too. But I don't think I'm an idiot because I like Saner, Lange, Schwartz, Harris and McClendon better. Johnson and others are still in my top players, but if I were drafting a team I would take others ahead of them. Just my opinion.

I can't imagine Creech winning over Boley. If Creech played for Etown we wouldn't even be talking about her. Jada Stinson would be their main ball handler and scorer then. Boley is arguably the best player ever from KY. When was the last time KY had a player who could name the school they wanted to go too? I don't think Moss had UConn and other top 5's offering? (Not 100% sure on that). Boys side too? If Creech wins because she scores 70 points in a game against teams with middle school girls who are just learning to play that would be a real black eye on ky girls basketball. Congrats to Creech on her accomplishment. I've seen her play and she's a fine player. But IMHO I think Western is taking a risk on her. She's low level D1 at best. Congrats to her on the scoring record though, I'm sure she's a tough, consistent player.
