Indiana All-Stars 81 Kentucky All-Stars 62 (Game 2)

I guess this ends the Boley vs Creech debate. It's obvious who's the superior player from this box score.

The one obvious thing I noticed is that Jackie Young can fill up the stat sheet.

Why can't Kentucky win these games? I know I'm just looking at the box scores but seems like at least one girl was killing KY with missed shots, and lots of turnovers. Are these the best girls KY has? I recognize 3-4 names, but not the others

KY girls haven't won since 2008, is that correct? We're closing in on a decade here.

Can someone with insight explain this more? Can't imagine IN is just a better basketball state?

Minutes played.

Minutes played.

I was being sarcastic. I don't understand why most can give the credit to Creech she deserves. I hope all the young ladies excel to the highest level.

It's a numbers game. You have a 50% larger population in Indiana than you do in KY. That means your pool of talent is 50% larger. You should win most years when you have that much more potential for talent. It's the same reason why larger high schools have a tendency to win more championships and smaller schools don't, unless, of course, they have access to more talent unnaturally. From a state vs. state perspective, this size advantage is harder to overcome.

Hmmm, I don't know if that fully explains it. We're not talking about teams/players that should be that affected by population size. The reason is because we're talking about the best 10 seniors in each state. Actually more like 5-6 best cause you don't really need to go that deep to win. When your talking about tens of thousands in each state I'm not sure your going to get that much difference in your elite talent. Maybe it's purely population stats but I'm not sold on that idea alone for sure.

Also, the graduate numbers are more like 2/3 the state of KY vs IN, not 1/2.

Indiana has 7 million people. Kentucky has 4 million. That gives them a larger talent pool to choose from. Kentucky doesn't have nearly as many elite level talent as Indiana in any given year. It's always going to be an uphill battle. Likewise, if Indiana was playing New York they would have an uphill battle in most years. Numbers do matter.

The irony of your post is Kentucky is a "come one, come all" state tourney. Everyone talks of the greatness of it, but the crutch of population (or bigger schools in the state tourney's case) is used to defend the dominance of Indiana in the all star game. Go figure.

Anyone know why Boley only played 10 minutes? Fatigue? Injury? Fouls? Seems she would need to be on the floor for KY to have a chance.

I never defended the "greatness". I would like to see a division system in KY. "Crutch" is your term for statistics(facts). Irony? I don't think so.

Nevermind...Saw where she injured a hip early in the game. Not considered serious but she didn't return after that.
