Wow....why so salty???

OK....this was the game I was most curious about this week. At 0-3 going into the game, was Central simply the victim of a brutal early schedule or were they down significantly this year? This appears to answer that question.

I'm not sure how these rankings are determined. Only way I could even imagine CAL being ranked ahead of Mayfield at this point is twofold - 1. Throwing out the knowledge that Mayfield won the title last year AND have most of that team back. 2. Maybe strength of schedule is a significant part? In three games, CAL has a distinct advantage in that regard. Even if Mayfield loses this week, I would keep them at #1.

I assume he meant CAL (Christian Academy of Louisville). There isn't a "Louisville Christian". Or are you calling it garbage that CAL would be ranked 10th?

I am VERY curious to see how this game plays out. I saw Butler in week two. They are really athletic - big and fast - with quality skill position players. However, from what I heard they are also very young. I would look for them to give Fern Creek all they can handle, and even perhaps pull off the upset.

DeSales will be a contender by the end of the season. They have an inexperienced QB, and several talented and athletic first-time starters on both sides of the ball. On top of that, they have been without a starting RB from last season. Once he gets back and the rest of the youngsters gain some experience, I feel confident that the Colts will be right there in the thick of it come November.

I agree with the sentiment that Mayfield shouldn't lose the top spot regardless of what happens Friday. In my opinion, only a second loss would justify a drop from #1, and I don't see that happening any time during the regular season.

Agree 100%. Ballard's defense was dominant. Some of that is DeSales' lack of cohesion right now on that side of the ball, but the Bruins are fast and big. And that crowd...WOW! That's the loudest opposing crowd I've heard in the four years I have been going to Colts games. They were rocking the place!

As a DeSales fan who sees this score AND watched our offense tonight, all I can say is YIKES!!!

Congrats to Ballard. They were the better team tonight. I would be curious to see the number of plays run - probably two-to-one in Ballard's favor. No offense at all for the DeSales. For the second year in a row (at Fern Creek last year), it was interesting to watch the players and fans of a MUCH bigger school celebrate like they just won the Super Bowl after beating the Colts.

Nice win for the JV Colts over a talented squad from Ballard.

In my mind, this game comes down to one thing - can our offense score more than two touchdowns. I don't think Ballard can put up more than 14 against this defense. I think if we score more than 14, we win.

Mayfield is an easy pick at #1 right now. Teams 2 through 6 all face tough challenges this week, and I would look for at least three of them to take a loss Friday. Those who win Friday establish themselves as legitimate contenders, particularly OC if they find a way to beat Owensboro.

We've pitched shutouts in the scrimmage and the first two games, but I expect that to end Friday. I'm not sure our offense is polished enough yet to put more than two TDs on the board against a team like Ballard. I think the team that finds a way to get a third score wins this one 21-14.

Stay healthy and GET healthy - we're still playing without a starting RB from last season. That should help also.

With a scrimmage against a 6-A team, 2 games against 5-A schools, 4 games against 6-A schools, and CAL, the Colts expected to have a tough regular season. It now looks considerably tougher. Here is some of what the Colts still have ahead of them. 1. Ballard - lost to Male, but only by 18. They appear to be greatly improved. 2. Fern Creek - lost 14-0 to Manual, but that will still be a tough test. 3. North Hardin - that game looks MUCH tougher now than it did two weeks ago. 4. CAL - that one is ALWAYS a battle. By playoff time, it should be pretty clear whether the Colts are contenders or pretenders in 2016.

I was given some grief in my inner circles for my pick of 13-7, but Butler is clearly much better than last year. They have good size and speed, and skill players all over the field. It was a great test for the DeSales defense - the kind of game that will make them a better team. The Colts' secondary.....wow. Those guys are on top of their game.

Good win for CAL. I am going to take a moment to pat myself on the back for my prediction of 35-10!

All three levels have now had a scrimmage and a regular season game on the new field, and none of the three has been scored on yet. Note to Bluegrass Preps via 2018-2019...these DeSales Freshmen are REALLY good!!!

Wow...that's discouraging for those kids. They are in DeSales' district, and their numbers were pretty slim last year as well. However, I still recall how hard they played. I have had at least 3 or 4 conversations with other Colts fans remembering back at how hard those kids played that night. My son also said they were as classy as any team they played the whole year. I hope things work out for them.

DeSales usually wears white for home games. Most college teams wear white on the road, but many NFL teams wear white at home. I don't know if there is a particular reason why.

The four hour trip the morning after Thanksgiving was a tough drive last year, but it beat NOT making the trip!!!
