Ram Posted July 28, 2016 Posted July 28, 2016 What does Shawnee need to do to improve in 2016? What do they need to keep doing to be successful? Remember, please be constructive.
Clyde Posted August 23, 2016 Posted August 23, 2016 Shawnee is down to about 10 or 11 players and has cancelled this week's game.
Purple88 Posted August 23, 2016 Posted August 23, 2016 Shawnee is down to about 10 or 11 players and has cancelled this week's game. How can they continue? Was this multiple injuries, players quit, something else?
Purple88 Posted August 23, 2016 Posted August 23, 2016 On the Riherd's Page they only have 15 guys on that list. (2 Srs, 5 Jrs and the rest So)
gchs_uk9 Posted August 23, 2016 Posted August 23, 2016 Shawnee is down to about 10 or 11 players and has cancelled this week's game. That's a shame. A couple years ago they started 4-0 and spirits were high. They'll likely never be a title contender, but I'd hate to see them fold.
Pete W Posted August 24, 2016 Posted August 24, 2016 The article by Jason Frakes said they have some injuries and guys that don't have enough required practices to play. They expect to have 16-17 next Friday and to play. They have 23 at practice.

It looks like while their numbers aren't huge, they should be able to field a team the remainder of the year. It's a shame that Moore has to accept this as a forfeit win and couldn't instead try to fill in their bye week, but there doesn't appear to be any schools available that week except maybe Fulton City and that's too far for either team to travel.
JIM SEYMOUR # 85 Posted August 24, 2016 Posted August 24, 2016 Agree that this is truly unfortunate. Those kids who are out - want to play as well. Obviously cannot under the circumstances. Hope things improve for them
DeSales Dad Posted August 25, 2016 Posted August 25, 2016 Wow...that's discouraging for those kids. They are in DeSales' district, and their numbers were pretty slim last year as well. However, I still recall how hard they played. I have had at least 3 or 4 conversations with other Colts fans remembering back at how hard those kids played that night. My son also said they were as classy as any team they played the whole year. I hope things work out for them.
EastSideJunkie Posted August 26, 2016 Posted August 26, 2016 Heard tonight they 'think' they can have 15-16 by next week. Maybe had another couple either quit or not eligible to play. Sad situation really. Not sure they can continue this season. Not good for the kids or for their opponents.
All Tell Posted August 26, 2016 Posted August 26, 2016 I hate to say this because I love football but some schools shouldn't have football teams and Shawnee is one of them. If this was a 1 year thing that would be one thing but it's an ongoing issue.
