Can anyone beat Mayfield? Can a Top 10 Class 6A team even do it? Who will be the top team in the East? Who will move up this week? What other teams are just outside the Top 10 waiting to get in?

I think these look pretty good. 2A is so loaded right now. Some very good teams in these rankings.

2A is stacked!!! And probably the most exciting class to me. If MF can knock off McCracken i feel like they areally on another level. But even if they drop another close one this year does it change their #1 ranking??? I'm partial cause i'm from the west....but I think win or lose(a close one) friday they are the team to beat in 2A.

I don't think Mayfield losing to McCracken County should cost them their #1 spot but it depends on how they lose to them and how CAL and Danville do this week as well. If Danville puts a running clock on Corbin like @Wireman predicts and Mayfield loses to McCracken County then I think the Admirals have a strong case for the #1 spot.

This class is so stacked this year. IMO, Mayfield is the top dog until beaten by someone in the class. They earned that by taking state in their first year. With saying that, I believe the chances of it happening are better.

I don't see a Mayfield loss this week dropping them from #1 unless the game is not competitive. This is one situation where margin of victory/loss for Mayfield, Danville and CAL could impact the rankings.

I agree with the sentiment that Mayfield shouldn't lose the top spot regardless of what happens Friday. In my opinion, only a second loss would justify a drop from #1, and I don't see that happening any time during the regular season.

I agree they shouldn't lose the top spot.

To add to what Toothpick said Friday night. 2-A is not too shabby. I would like for someone to put 2-A teams with an SEC team. Mayfield is Bama. NCC is Florida. Danville is Tenn. OC is Ole Miss or Tex AM. Idk what do you think?

In 2014 & 2015 Mayfield has gone 14-1 and both losses were in OT to 6A McCracken County. Obviously I'm biased but if we did lose the game Friday night by a small margin then I think we should still remain at the #1 spot. If they blow us off the field then that's a different story. I don't see that happening though.

Maybe if MC just beats the tar out of Mayfield, and Danville does the same to Corbin...but I don't think the former is liable to happen. Outside of that scenario, Mayfield is the #1 team in 2A until someone else from 2A says otherwise.

Mayfield beats McCracken by 1 point. Danville beats Corbin by 27 points. Mayfield is still your #1?

Yes.. 100%

If Mayfield loses by a TD or less to a Top 10 6A team I think it till speaks more volumes than Danville beating the #2 3A team right now by 3-4 scores.

Considering Corbin and Central went toe to toe and was decided by 6 points I also have to think that CAL's 30 point shelling of Central would weigh just about as heavy as Danville's hypothetical 27 point win

Without hesitation, absolutely. And remember, that Corbin win against Central isn't looking quite as good with the Central blowout loss to CAL. I'm not really sure how much shine that Corbin apple really has. IF Danville can get a blowout win, I'm not sure if that speaks more loudly about Danville or Corbin.

Does Danville have to beat Mayfield at WKU to be #1?
