  1. Voting so far: Scott County 18 Woodford County 18 About what I expected. They're hard to separate. If there's a sliver of light between these two, I haven't found it yet.
  2. 🗞️ Headlines 📰 ‼️Milestone‼️ Trinity’s golden boy has been relegated to silver. Brian Brohm, long considered the undisputed greatest Shamrock quarterback, has been surpassed as the school's all-time leader in touchdown passes. Zane Johnson now sits atop that podium after three of his six completions against Ballard reached the end zone. Johnson is reshaping the goat conversation in St. Matthews. He has a shot at Brohm's career yardage mark and, most importantly, a perfect 4/4 on state titles. - There was a Foxx in the hen house, spoiling another productive night by Kade Goodin. Woodford’s quarterback threw five touchdown passes to keep the Jackets in front of Collins, while Goodin tried to keep pace with over 400 yards of total offense and five combined touchdowns. He was responsible for throwing or running on 54 of Collins' 59 snaps. You have to wonder how much longer Goodin can carry this team. Just because he shoulders it well, doesn't mean it isn't heavy. - Fort Knox is supposed to be impenetrable. Dre'Mail Carothers found a way in by going over the top for seven touchdown passes, all in the first half. He was a +6 in the touchdown-to-incompletion ratio after connecting on 14 of 15 attempts, earning him another ‘William Tell Marksmanship Award' 🎯. - Tyler Fryman was the flag bearer leading the crusade against St. Henry. The skirmish was over quickly, with Fryman catching six balls for 124 yards and two scores, plus a 47 yard bolt to the end zone on a direct snap. - Keeping with the theme of overwhelming district mismatches, Ja'Hyde Brown cooked Central for 125 yards and three scores in one half of play. He's now five touchdown receptions away from tying the single season record. - Timmy Emongo torched South Oldham for 162 yards and three scores on ten carries. Count him among the contenders in search of four quarters. He'll get them this week, as Wofo comes calling for the front page headliner of Week 9.
  3. This is another example of a game that looks better on paper relative to how it will likely play out. The Raiders are having a good season, but I don't think they're ready for what Tilghman will throw at them. That WE defense is about to get stretched. Tornado by four scores.
  4. 🗞️ Can Tigers Keep Pace With Long Striding Mustangs? McCracken County 🐎 (5-2, 6A #10) | Putting points on the board hasn't been an issue; Trigger man Cole Presswood has guided the Mustangs to 43 ppg. It's the swiss cheese defense that keeps McCracken fans chewing their fingernails. They're allowing nearly 40 ppg. Christian County 🐯 (2-5) | The newly consolidated Tigers aren't dipping their paws in the water… they dove in head first. The schedule has been highlighted by competitive losses to Cooper and Mayfield, as well as more heavy handed defeats to South Warren and Frederick Douglass.
  5. 🗞️ Indians Circle The Wagons In Richmond, Time To Face The Muzic GRC ⚫🔴 (5-3, 6A #9) | The Cardinals have shown flashes, but haven't quite put it all together for a signature win. The losses have begun to mount as the schedule has ramped up. Quarterback Carter Muzic (300+ ypg of total offense) takes aim at a rock solid Central defense. Madison Central 🔵🔴 (6-1, 6A #4) | Resilient in defeat to Douglass, the Indians proved they deserve a seat at the ‘big school’ table. Carson Herbst, Corinthian Barnes, and a bullish offensive line drive one of the state's top ground games. The defense allows just 11.5 ppg. ✏️ 📖 | Madison Central leads this border rivalry 35-28-2 all-time. The Tribe owned the line of scrimmage last year, rushing for 422 yards while holding GRC to 39 as Central crushed the Cardinals, 49-0.
  6. 🗞 Pulaski Seeks Third Straight Sweep Of Laurel County 🧹 North Laurel 🐆 (3-3) | How good the Jags are is up for debate. The quality of their wins is thin, while the losses have come against Corbin, Madison Central, and high powered Collins by a touchdown. They held the Titans to a season low point total. Pulaski County 🏴‍☠️ (7-0, 5A #1) | The climb to the top of the polls includes wins over LCA, Corbin, and South Warren. The Maroons have earned their way up. They hung 66 on South Laurel last week with North the only thing standing between them and continued dominance of Laurel County. ✏️ 📖 | Pulaski leads the all-time series 19-3. The Maroons got a hundred yards and two scores from Brock and pick-six by Cohen Finley in last year's 49-14 win in London.
  7. 🗞 The Fur Will Fly As Cougars And Wildcats Meet In Russellville Franklin-Simpson 🔵⚪️ (2-5) | They're down, but are they out? The tradition rich Wildcats are nursing a three game losing streak, including a three score loss to Calloway County, a team Logan smoked a week earlier. F-S has allowed 30+ points in four of its last five games. Logan County 🐾 (5-2, 4A #7) | A feisty Cougars offense was tamed by Tilghman in its last outing. They'll look to regain the form that scored 40+ in their first six games and sink their claws deeper into the district. The return of quarterback Luke Rogers allows star Christian Helle to slide back into his normal role, chewing up ground as one of top running backs in WKY. ✏️ 📖 | Franklin-Simpson owned the series before Logan swung the momentum in its favor, winning the last three. The Cougars rode Helle's 266 yards and four touchdowns to a 63-27 win last year.
  8. Regular season game of the year in 5A. I can't envision many scenarios where this isn't a memorable night in Georgetown.
  9. Their remaining schedule sets up nicely for 10-0.
  10. I'm rolling with the Bearcats. Only a select few teams in 1A want a piece of the champs right now. I don't have Bethlehem on that list. I could have this one all wrong, but I think KCD prevails by multiple scores.
  11. We could see a purge on Friday night. Several unbeatens are playing top competition in Week 9.
  12. Frederick Douglass vanquished Madison Central from the realm of the unbeaten in a defensive scuffle in Richmond. Danville narrowly escaped defeat against W.E.B. DuBois with a walk-off field goal. The Remaining Unbeatens 💯% Ashland Blazer 😼 Beechwood 🐯 Bethlehem 🦅 CAL 🇸🇯 Danville ⚓ Dayton 🔱 Frederick Douglass 🐎 Glasgow 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 LaRue County 🇭🇳 Middlesboro 🐝 Paducah Tilghman 🌪️ Paintsville 🐾 Pulaski County 🏴‍☠️ Rockcastle County 🚀 Sayre ⚔️ West Jessamine 🐎====≈========================= Lots to look forward to in Week 9.... Once again, we're guaranteed to lose someone, as Glasgow travels to Hodgenville to battle LaRue County. Bethlehem is on alert this week, tangling with KCD, the reigning 1A champions who are picking up steam. Despite being 8-0, Danville is a home underdog this week. Defending state champion LCA is coming for the Ads. Ditto for Dayton, who needs to turn back the tide of its recent history against Newport Central Catholic. The Devils haven't beaten the 'Breds this century, losing eighteen straight. Middlesboro travels to Williamsburg, a school they've alternated wins and losses with the last four years. Last year was a 22-14 win for 'Boro. Paintsville hosts Pikeville in a classic EKY rivalry that's been one sided in Pikeville's favor for the last forty years.
  13. 🗞️ District Driver's Seat Up For Grabs In Top 10 Tussle Glasgow 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 (7-0, 3A #4) | The high octane Scotties, looking to solidify their place as a top contender for a run to state. After CAL, you might not find a finer arsenal of offensive firepower in 3A. Haven't been challenged since the Week 2 shootout with Barren County. LaRue County 🇭🇳 (7-0, 3A #9) | The mystery team of the class, unbeaten but unproven. Highlight of the season so far was a running clock shutout of a solid Elizabethtown squad. The Hawks have only been challenged for four quarters once. ✏️ 📖 | Glasgow leads the series 5-3 since 1998, including a current four game win streak. The Scotties locked LaRue down last year, allowing just 60 yards and recording three interceptions in a 42-6 blowout.
  14. 👀 Congrats to Fleming. This was East's first district loss to someone other than Russell in five years.
  15. MNH poured it on in the second half and Apollo couldn't keep pace without Max Johnson.
  16. MNH is piling on in the 4Q. Sandidge now has five touchdown runs. 52-14 Maroons
  17. Final. Pulaski beats its former coach for the fourth straight time. South put up a fight in the second half, but it was too little, too late.
  18. My moments are few and far between, but I do have them.
  19. Final. Boyle County wins, 42-0.
  20. 59-17 🏴‍☠️ 7:40 4Q
  21. Sandidge with his third score of the night. 28-6 MNH 4:47 3Q
