Final from Morehead. In a rollercoaster of a game, Boyd (27-6) leads by 10 early, trails by seven in the second quarter, rallies for a nip and tuck second half, and makes its free throws down the stretch to advance over Rowan (23-11). Boyd scored the last eight after a tie game at 1:03. Boyd shot 57%, Rowan 54%. The Lions salted the game away at the FT line, making 6/6 in the waning minutes and 17/19 overall. After making all six attempts from three in the first half, Rowan was 1/8 in the second. Halftime Rowan County 32 Boyd County 31 Wildly entertaining and well played half of basketball. At 19-9, it appeared Boyd was about to run this one out of reach, before Rowan erupted for an 18-2 run that wobbled the Lions as badly as I've seen them all season. Boyd returned fire late in the 2Q to nearly pull even at the half. Rowan is 6/6 from behind the arc and 15/21 over the last game and a half. All of Boyd's offense has come from Ellis, Spurlock, and Taylor, while Rowan's has been dispersed among several Vikings.
