  1. Somerset 13 North Laurel 0 3:31 left in 1st Quarter.
  2. Somerset 7 North Laurel 0 6:57 left in the 1st Quarter. Chance Stayton went down with a knee injury about 2 minutes into the game. The Jumpers should be fine tonight without him, but could be bad news for Somerset moving forward.
  3. Wow, I quit following when someone called it 34-28 Butler as the final in the update thread. What happened?
  4. Slow start for Somerset but they finally settled down in the second quarter. Not a great game for the Jumpers overall but Williamsburg looked pretty good. I think the Jackets will have some success this season.
  5. Somerset 41 Lincoln Co. 0 Final Subs played the second half running clock and preserved the shutout.
  6. Somerset 41 Lincoln Co. 0 Halftime Possessions for Lincoln Co. so far have resulted in: Fumble Pick six Fumble Blocked punt, returned for TD Punt Blocked punt
  7. Somerset 27 Lincoln Co. 0 End of 1Q. Four possessions for Lincoln, four turnovers.
  8. Somerset 20 Lincoln Co. 0 5:22 left in 1Q. Lincoln Co. on their three possesions has had 2 fumbles and a pick six.
  9. Somerset seemed to move the ball better with Sheron at QB against Casey than with Ham at QB against Garrard. May have just been the difference in defenses each faced. Both made some nice passes and some mistakes, though. Just thought that was worth noting moving forward.
  10. Wasn't there but the word I got was that in regular game simulation Corbin scored once and Somerset did not score, that ended 7-0 Corbin. Then they ran goal line for 10 plays each and Corbin scored 7 times while Somerset only scored once. Defense looked solid from what I heard. Offense still has a ways to go.
  11. Now I'm confused about it all, as well. A Failure to Communicate Foils Somerset's Attempt to Rekindle Rivalry with Pulaski County
  12. Somerset's AD told Pulaski that they had cleared the schedule for the week prior to the Don Franklin Bowl for 2019-2020 to play a home-home series. It's all on Pulaski.
  13. As recently as when I played from 02-05 (you'll know the coach, JD) we did 3-a-days for a week. It was pretty miserable, 8am til 5pm every day with an hour break between practices. I was usually in bed by 7pm every day during 3-a-day week.
  14. I agree, they are stuck so long as they stay in 2A. That's why I think 1A, both geographically and competitively, is the best place for them. Not saying that it is likely to happen but that's the best result Middlesboro could hope for IMO.
  15. There is still the issue of having Middlesboro in their district, which means Middlesboro would have to travel 2-3 hours for district games and 3-4 hours for playoff games. I would recommend Middlesboro drop down to 1A and then a couple scenarios to even out the districts: 1. Move one of the D3 teams (probably Washington County) over to D4 to even the two districts out at 4 and 4. 2. Move Somerset over to D3 with Monroe, Metcalfe, and Clinton. Move Green County and Washington County over to D4 with Danville and LCA. Might take a little bit of movement amongst the 1A districts to make work, but Middlesboro should not be in a district on the Western side.
  16. Somerset 19 Middlesboro 0 1st Quarter, 3:01 left.
  17. ^John Cole destroyed most of those records throughout his career as well and didn't win. Johnson should win it IMO. If I was betting the farm on who will win though, I'd go with Wood.
  18. I don't know if Jake Johnson runs track or not. Scout.com lists Johnson running a 4.6.
  19. He is definitely in the same tier as John Cole and Storm Wilson from what I've seen of him. His hands are as good or better than Cole's, and they are equal when it comes to route running IMO. The only thing that Cole really has Johnson on is speed. John Cole had SEC level acceleration and straight line speed, don't forget that he was a state champion in the 100m. But Johnson's agility and quickness are just as good as Cole's. Jake Johnson is a special talent. It's hard to determine how they could compare at the college level because we never saw what Cole was capable of in college. Cole spent his entire college career battling injury after injury in a stagnant passing game. Hopefully Johnson can stay healthy in college and we can see what he's really capable of at that level.
  20. I think you have to see Beechwood as at least a 3 TD's better in this one but I'm hoping I'm wrong. They would be a top 3 or 4 team in 2A this year. I'm hoping this one plays out similar to the Lloyd game against Beechwood. I'm looking for us to show some fight early and try to put the pressure on the Tigers but I think in the end they will have too many horses. Beechwood 42 Somerset 21
  21. Very sloppy offensively. 3 total interceptions 6 minutes into the game. TD was on a pick 6.
  22. Harrodsburg is one for me. I always loved playing in a district with them and at least while I was in school we sort of shared a "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" sentiment towards Danville. I also miss Cumberland and Evarts in Harlan County. Watching games there was like stepping into a time machine and there's really not a more beautiful place to enjoy a Friday evening in the Fall.
