  1. Take a walk, score 15 runs, step off. Tell the base umpire what you're doing. End the game as quickly as possible. Pretty easy.
  2. Shouldn't have to. Coach can manage this. It's done all the time.
  3. There's really no reason any game should be more than 15 to 20-0, tops.
  4. We had this discussion about another team a while back. If it's a district game, you have to play it. But you simply step off once you've safely got to a run rule score. If it's not a required game, it shouldn't be scheduled.
  5. I'm not on Facebook. It's usually posted over at the KSCA site by Wednesday.
  6. Thanks
  7. Don't see them posted at the KSCA site. Has anyone seen them?
  8. Garbage in, garbage out. That's a function of the information in their system which is sparse and incomplete. Let's be honest - 3 Kentucky teams in the national top 11? OK.
  9. Or whining about the umpiring and either getting thrown out or quitting and taking his team out of a tournament which he did at Etown last year.
  10. Apollo beat Madisonville tonight.
  11. Most of the Louisville talk was on the Rivals board but that has completely dried up. Don't know if that's because all of those kids graduated and the parents moved on or what.
  12. I hope EC upgrades their schedule next year because this seems like a good young team led by a great talent, but they've played nobody. It's impossible to know how good they are when there's only 1 team on that schedule any of the top 20 have played (Ashland Blazer). EC beat them 2-1. East Jessamine and Woodford beat Ashland 8-0 and from what I heard from people at Beast of the East, they didn't even have a base runner against Woodford. It's hard to get too excited about a team that doesn't play anyone, even if they win every game. It would be good for everyone if they made a couple of weekend trips west, even if it's just to the Lexington area, to play a couple of triangles or tournaments against teams outside of eastern KY.
  13. They probably did it for gate and concessions right? You can flip home team without being in the home park. The only reason to insist on playing at your park would be to collect gate. Estill lost to Scott County (12-2) and South Laurel (10-3).
  14. When no one either at the KHSAA or the school, much less the umps at the game, did anything about him clearly ordering his pitchers to hit 3 consecutive players on Scott County several years ago, I think that ended any question of whether he would ever be held accountable for his actions.
  15. Wouldn't expect anything less from that coach. I heard it didn't end on the mound either.
  16. Agreed. Also one reason why I don't put much stock in high school stats, even if they are accurately kept. Way too much variation in quality of play for them to mean anything, other than as a reflection of the schedule a team played.
  17. Lost in the SB equation is what impact the pitcher and catcher have. You can take the same kid, fastest in the state, and place her in different situations and her success rate and attempts will be different. You can run a 2.6 1st to home, but if the pitcher throws 60 and the catcher has a pop time of 1.7, you're not stealing 2nd and 3rd on consecutive pitches like you might against a pitcher who throws 48 and a catcher with a pop time of 2.6. Rarely does that have to do solely with the speed of the base stealer.
  18. FWIW, I rarely see umps call illegal pitches. One every now and then, but then usually not again even for repeat issues. When you complain, it's the same every time: "I could call an illegal pitch on both pitchers every pitch." So the answer is to not call any, I guess.
  19. Ashland beat Lafayette 9-5.
  20. Meanwhile Woodford has been MIA this season. After all the hype keep looking for scores but they don't seem to be playing. Looks like their season starts this week. Crazy!!
  21. If the fielder was at normal depth, the failure to touch a ball hit between the legs "contributed" to the offensive player being safe. If the ball was hit as hard as you say it was, and the fielder at least knocked the ball down but ultimately couldn't make the play, that's a single. If it's a normal grounder, then knocking the ball down and not fielding it cleanly would almost always be considered an error. But a hard hit ball hit directly at a fielder at normal depth should, at worst, be knocked down, to avoid an error being charged.
  22. They play Buckhorn last game of the regular season too. C'mon. I suppose they are looking for a good battle to get them ready for districts!
