Allana Matteson is one to keep your eye on. Only a frosh and has incredible power. Nice young lady and a great future ahead. Fun to watch. Not so fun for pitchers. A mask is highly suggested. :)

Agree....

Nice compact swing! I will be keeping an eye out for her....

wow. That's a lot of stolen bases as a team...

I just mention that because Suganuma has almost as many as our whole team.

I don't know who is keeping those stats but there is no way that kid has 29 stolen bases in 14 games. I know the schedule has not been very strong but still, unless they are counting stolen bases when it's a wild pitch and she advances a base, that is hard to imagine. Bullitt East has probably the best base stealer in the state in #4 Maros and I'm guessing she has 20 stolen bases on the year.

Not sure I agree on the schedule part. Boone, Conner, Ryle twice and Highlands are some of the best teams in the 9th region.

RocketsDad, I can assure you that's accurate. The girl from Bullitt East may be the best base stealer in the state, but that doesn't mean Kayari doesn't have 29 stolen bases. I've been coaching 30 years and believe me we DON'T pad stats. I can't stand when teams do that, especially with hits. She's stolen 2nd and 3rd on consecutive pitches 5 times this year. We don't count passed ball or wild pitch advancement as steals. She's had 6 steals in a game twice this year.

With team stats like that Cooper must be having a great year

I can vouch that Kayari is capable of what this coach is talking about. Very fast, skilled and very knowledgable about the game. She's a left handed hitter that gets on base a lot. Outstanding SS already as well. And only an 8th grader! (I think). She is going to be phenomenal!

Okay, I apologize if I implied that the person keeping the stats was lying or not accurate, which was not my intention, but you do agree that those are some unusual statistics. Awesome job this year by her and looking forward to seeing her play!

We've had this discussion on here before as well and I think that's where the questions are coming from. The way I score it is unless is a double steal situation, if an attempt is not made to get the runner out (defensive indifference) it is not a steal. An example may be runner on first and third and runner on first takes second without a throw. Not a steal. Not saying that is the cause here. She is very fast and I mentioned that during our game with Cooper.she recorded 1 steal against us and it wasn't even close.
