  1. Final score 53-40 or at least that’s close. Holmes played a great second half
  2. Congratulations to the Lady Raiders. Total control of the game...Schwartz did return and play some throughout the rest of the game which surprised me as it was very apparent there was no reason to risk further injury as Ryle dominated without her. Scher (spelling) took over in the second half. Conner has some work to do. Hopefully they can learn from this loss and put it behind them.
  3. IMO Conner needs to utilize their bench tonight. I’ve seen them tire out too many times towards the end of the game. Ryle will be tough to beat at home and Conner needs to play it’s best until the buzzer goes off to pull out a victory tonight. Two very talented teams..should be fun to watch.
  4. After watching the game I could see the talent on both teams and I believe both will make decent runs this year. Conner was hurt by their center not playing a lot. Duncan made a big difference when she was in there. Both good runs were while she was on the court. The birds had a had time matching up with her height. She had very limited playing time due to two early fowls and seemed to be nursing an injury, but that's always part of the equation and Conner couldn't overcome it. Very poor shooting night for the cougars as well. Seemed like they were playing a little tight. I expected a little more from them with the good young talent they have. The Birds definitely deserved the win that night. They made the shots and had a good game plan. Seemed more prepared than Conner for sure.
  5. Allana Matteson is one to keep your eye on. Only a frosh and has incredible power. Nice young lady and a great future ahead. Fun to watch. Not so fun for pitchers. A mask is highly suggested.
  6. Strong defense, solid line-up and consistent pitching will be hard for Boone to overcome if they limp in to this one down some key players. Hopefully they have time to heal before the games are played. Conner seems to be getting stronger and gaining more confidence as they play more games.
  7. Maines with 2 home runs had 6 rbi's tonight. Solid defense for the lady Cougars tonight. Henry gets the win.
  8. If NCC is to win this they need to clean up some of the little mistakes. The Birds are tough and I am predicting a run rule by the fifth. Sorry Lawnboy.
  9. A real team effort by the cougars last night. They could have easily thrown in the towel early but continued to focus and play solid defensive at every position. I have to mention the effort by Cassidy Billingsley, a ninth grader that was slotted in to 1st base in the 3rd inning I think. Went three for three and played a solid 1st base. She really took advantage of the opportunity. Conner is still knocking the dust off but I wouldn't overlook these young ladies.
  10. Ryle is legit. Nice win for Campbell. Not sure the win could be considered that big of an upset though. After Highlands that list gets very tight. We could argue 2 through 10 all day long. .
  11. Final from Tuesday night. Nice match up of two young pitchers. Game went to extra innings 0-0. International rules kicked in and Conner scores 2 in the 8th. Good defensive night for both teams. I can't remember any errors by either team. Fun game to watch. Good night at the plate for Conner's left fielder Kayla Ellis. She should be fun to watch this year.
  12. SK had two young pitchers throw last night. Glover is a 9th grader, they both pitched over 50 pitches a piece and looked good for their first outing against a stacked lineup. The Birds took advantage of sloppy defense. SK had a tough night in the field missing some easy plays, hopefully that gets figured out as the season goes along, but the Birds looked good as expected and were clearly the better team. Graybill scared me a couple of times sliding on a steal and into home. Was a little surprised she was taking that chance this early on. The Birds shortstop is a great reason to go watch them play even if your not a Highlands fan. She's fun to watch.
  13. Very disappointing on many levels last night if you were a Conner fan. I will keep my thoughts on the performance and the antics on the field to myself and focus on Highlands because they deserve it. Highlands was the much better team and is playing with a lot of energy and confidence. Really good defensive effort last night although it didn't take much as Conner didn't hit the ball hard at any point. Kudos to the Highlands pitcher for that. She kept the cougars off balance all night. The senior third baseman for Highlands is fun to watch. Thomas Moore is getting a great deal with her. Great glove and hits the ball hard it seems every time she's at the plate. It's awesome that her family and friends get to watch her play right down the street at the next level. Good luck to the Birds tonight and moving forward which I'm sure they will. Represent the 9th and kick some butt.
  14. It seemed like this game was over after the 1st inning. Conner went up 5-0 after 1 full. Mostly due to the fact that Ryle had 3 errors. It was not a good defensive outing for Ryle. They held Conner scoreless for the next 4 innings then gave up 5 more in the 6th inning due to a couple more errors. The game ended by run rule. Ryle's pitcher was wearing a very limiting knee brace which hurt her mobility. Kudos to her for playing through that. Branson continued to impress at the SS position.
  15. It was a good game. Pretty solid defense from both sides. Ryle's SS played a heck of a game. Seems like all Boones hard hit balls were to her and she covered her position very well. I'm sure Andy was thinking about pitching around Dickerson in the top of the eighth, pretty tough though to allow the lead runner a free pass in an extra inning do or die situation. Her homer was a no doubter line drive over the left field fence. She really stepped up in a big way for Ryle. Should be a good one tonight for the 33rd District Championship game as Ryle and Conner split their games during the regular season. Ryle always seems to play Conner well on their home field. Should be interesting.
  16. Good Game. Closer than the score indicated. The Camels had bases loaded in the 6th with no outs and failed to score. They hit the ball hard but credit a strong defensive effort to holding them scoreless. Camels center fielder McKinlee Miller had a big night with two hits and multiple put outs in center. She also scored the only run by very aggressive base running. She's only an eighth grader and should be fun to watch in the future. Senior night at Conner. Elizabeth Sims is Conner's only graduating player. She pitched a strong outing and had an in the park homer. Awesome young lady who has represented the Lady Cougars forever it seems in a manner in which her family should be very proud. She will be missed.
  17. Fun game to watch. Seeing HHS for the first time this year I was very impressed with their defense. It's going to take some solid hits to beat them, I don't think they will give up too many errors. The difference last night was a couple timely hits by the Birds which Conner failed to do. The Birds looked relaxed and ready to play with good energy. Very impressed with the third baseman, kids a player. HHS looks poised to make another run this year. If these two teams see each other again it could easily turn out the other way but for now HHS looks more mentally ready for a serious run.
  18. Pretty well played game on both sides from a defensive standpoint. St Henry just needed a couple timely hits to get on the board. Had the bases loaded once and failed to score. Also had a lead off triple that failed to score. Left fielder Ellis had a great night for the Lady Cougars. She hit the ball hard all night and ended up with 6 RBI"s. She is a very solid hitter and Conner has her for another couple of years. Biz had another solid outing.
  19. What a fun game to watch if your a softball fan. The region will miss Biz and Haley when their gone. Having two pitchers like that has been a blessing for softball fans in NKY for the past 6 years. The game last night went just as I suspected it would. Right down to the last out. Good stuff.
  20. I've seen a lot of 12u and 14u softball and here are my future impact players- Kaylee McGinn- 8th Grade Dixie High School- Kid has tremendous power and plays a very strong first base in summer ball and is now trying out the catchers spot for Dixie's JV. She is batting clean up in the varsity line-up. Great future for this young lady. Her best attribute is that she is a very nice young lady. Maggie Fields- 8th grade Dixie High School- Can play any where, short, second, outfield and with plenty of speed to go around. If she gets a bunt down she's usually standing on first. Gifted athlete. Star Smith- Boone County- 7th grade- Starts for Andy and has one of the best arms I've seen. Plays in field and outfield for Boone and plays short on a very good summer ball team. Bailey Young- Owen County- 7th grader- Probably plays the game with the intelligence of a varsity player. Over all gifted athlete who plays every position except pitcher and could pitch as well if needed. This young lady knows how to play the game. These are just a few off the top of my head. Many more I could list. Lots of good talent coming up.
  21. Agree with Cardinal 101. To say the center fielder dropped those balls would be unfair to her. They were hard hit balls that she had to go a long way to catch. Could she have caught them? Yes, but it would have been a heck of a play. I also agree that Dixie is flying under the radar right now. They have played a very tough non conference schedule that has accounted for most of their losses. Very solid well coached team with some great young talent. They will see some regional play is my guess.
  22. I've seen all of the teams play in your top 4 and can't comment on 5 through 6 because I haven't seen them yet but nothing wrong with the top 4 that I can tell. That order might change a little once the year rolls on but all three are going to be there in the end. All very solid teams in your top three
  23. Weather cooperated for the most part.
