#5 Bullitt East vs #4 Male

Featured Replies

Got out to watch the game last night. East wins 4-2 over Male. Good win for East.

Both teams pretty equal as you would expect. Not a lot of offense in the game. Both pitchers were fairly dominant I think there were only a handful of hits for each team. Both teams had some help scoring but the Male error by far and away was the most costly.

Scoring as i recall

Male scores 1 in the top of 4th

Leadoff walk, misplayed bunt, sac bunt, ground out to first run scored, ground out to second.

BE answers with 1 in the bot of 4th.

HR by Roby

Male scores 1 in the 5th

Leadoff walk, Steals second, Sac bunt, Flare to right center scores run, ground out

BE responds with 3 in the bot of 5th

HBP, 2 out crucial error in right dropped fly ball, single to right scores one, Roby triples to right scoring 2, ground out.

Couple of things in the 5th. the error in right was play of the game IMO. That was on the leadoff hitter bringing the meat of BE lineup to the plate with runners on. On the triple for Roby apparently that was supposed to be an intentional walk that was either missed or just a bad pitch out. Right after the play the HC for Male runs to the mound and is fairly demonstrative toward the pitcher and catcher about it. I was down LF line and could clearly hear him yell at the pitcher "that was supposed to be a walk how the hell does she hit it off the fence, you have to do what i ask you to do or you may not be on the team much longer" He looks at the catcher and ask her "what the hell happened do you not understand the part of a walk". Then the Ump broke up the meeting. The Male HC is one of the best in knowing the rule book and teaching his players techniques but with that said he is one of the most obnoxiuos coaches i have ever seen. Im sure he has his teams best interest in mind but his actions on the filed make the program and himself look really bad.

Wouldn't expect anything less from that coach. I heard it didn't end on the mound either.

At what point does the baggage and abuse over ride the results ? I'm not familiar with the guy but he's drama drama drama all the time . Yes he wins , but so did Bobby Knight .

When no one either at the KHSAA or the school, much less the umps at the game, did anything about him clearly ordering his pitchers to hit 3 consecutive players on Scott County several years ago, I think that ended any question of whether he would ever be held accountable for his actions.

I was at the 16U ASA A State last year and that coach does the same thing in travel games too. He got on to the Umpires and they cave in and he gets calls. For instance he tells the Umpire on the field the pitchers foot is off the ground when she pitches so the Umpire forgets the runner on first and she leaves way early be fore the pitch is released. His other scam he runs with 2 outs and a runner on third he starts to walk down the line from 3rd base taking his line up card from his pocket like he was changing the line up when he sees the pitcher not watching he signals the runner to take off trying to score but the coach on the other team knew what was going on and the pitcher threw it home for the out.

It's not a softball season without a Josh Bloomer thread. I wouldn't throw to Taylor Roby at this point either. Very interested to see 7th Region Tourney this year. East, Mercy, and Butler all fighting it out. I think either can beat the other on any given day. Mercy and East ride with one pitcher. If pitching depth comes into play Butler may inch to the top line.

You meant 6th Region not 7th but it is going to be very interesting between those 3 teams and Holy Cross can always surprise as well.

In the 7th, you have Male, Ballard, Assumption, Eastern and Manual with Male being the favorite. Any of those teams could get hot at the right time, though. Should be interesting as well!

I always enjoy from afar the threads that criticize this guy when he consistently beats the teams of fans that complain. I've yet to hear a fan of a competitive team complain. McCracken's fans don't complain. Hell, from what I understand, kids from the best teams play for him in the summer. Bullitt East complains because they can't get out of the 6th. Ballard complains because he moved to the 7th and they can't beat him. I'm not saying winning is everything, but I am saying if he is so bad, I can't imagine him continuing to be successful like he is. I don't know him, have never seen him or heard him coach, but conventional wisdom tells me that if everyone complains about you and you still win, you must be doing something right.

Yes Rocketsdad you are correct I meant the 6th. I always get going and get those crossed up.

So you think it is okay to tell your pitcher to hit 3 batters in a row on purpose and when she says no you bring in another one who will? One being in the head

Or whining about the umpiring and either getting thrown out or quitting and taking his team out of a tournament which he did at Etown last year.

You heard him say that? Everyone seems to know someone that heard these things, but no one actually says they heard it.

Can you name the only Coach it the state that has won a softball state Tournament and was fired after winning?
