ESPN is reporting Burfict suspended 5 games.
Pioneer.Pride replied to futurecoach's topic in National Football League (NFL)
It seems everybody in Bengal land is ready to eat their own. One thing no one has mentioned is that receiver that Burfict hit had NO EXPECTATION of being hit, even though he was running a route in the middle of the field. Burfict should not have been fined at all. The RECEIVER should have been fined for failing to protect himself! You are on an NFL field. Your head should be on a swivel at ALL times! Players have a responsibility to protect themselves. This player did not. Does it say something broader about the game that this player had no expectation of being hit! -
Week 2 Game Date Changes (Hurricane Harvey)

You are just concerned about playing conditions? How about travel over flooded roads? Hazardous road conditions? Storm debris in travel path? -
6A #6 Simon Kenton at 6A # 10 Conner
Pioneer.Pride replied to thsrocks's topic in KY Football (High School)
Perhaps you are right. But, I saw a lot of good things from that Conner QB, and also quite a few plays that just missed being big plays. Was Hicks the QB when Conner scrimmaged BW? -
6A #6 Simon Kenton at 6A # 10 Conner
Pioneer.Pride replied to thsrocks's topic in KY Football (High School)
I've seen six teams play in NKy so far. Of those, Conner is the best I've seen. That being said, I still expect SK to be too much offensively in this game, but Conner may well deserve this ranking. -

Wow! Wonder if the Ryle JV came down from the emotional varsity win the previous night. FF74, do you have any info on the jv QB? -
Conner 21 Boone County 13
Pioneer.Pride replied to DevilMayCare's topic in KY Football (High School)
Boone needs 15 plays to score. Conner got all their scores on big plays while Boone never attempted a pass greater than 15 yards. Boone also needs about 6 more kids in the rotation. Too many kids going 2 ways and you can see the fatigue in the 4th quarter. Connor's QB looks promising. -
Highlands 24 Simon Kenton 0 (Frosh)
Pioneer.Pride replied to AllenR's topic in KY Football (High School)
SK is so competitive in their developmental levels that they have the varsity players do the play calling on both sides of the ball. I've seen it. Enjoy the win Birdies! -
Highlands vs Campbell County Predictions
Pioneer.Pride replied to bugatti's topic in KY Football (High School)
I hate to be on the fence here, but this one is a toss up. Twist my arm and I'll say HHS by 3, but this appears to be a very even matchup to me. -
Boone County vs. Conner - Keys to Victory

I saw their team photo on Twitter recently. I counted only 44 kids. That is crazy for a 6A schedule. -

Frustratingly, the top programs (at least at the moment) don't play each other. I can't remember the last time SK and Cov Cath played. I believe this match up would benefit both, win or lose. -

Cooper shot blanks when HHS was throwing picks and blowing snaps. A good team would have had the Birds put away at halftime. Cooper's offense was painful to watch and HHS eventually got a little confidence in the passing game and put the game away. I would not use this game as a measuring stick. This doesn't mean that HHS will not be a good team by the end of the year, but, there is nothing from that game tape that will put fear into an opponent. -
2A #7 Newport Central Catholic vs. 6A Cooper
Pioneer.Pride replied to DevilMayCare's topic in KY Football (High School)
Don't look for a lot of points in this one. Cooper's QB is playing out of position, and it showed against Highlands. -
Covington Catholic 49 Ryle 17

I remember 3 years ago when Dixie came to Park Hills. Dixie looked bad and was dismissed as a contender. 4 months later, Dixie was playing in the title game. -
I did miss Himple. 3 D1 prospects from 4 large schools in 6 years? SK has had that many by themselves in the last 4 years. The Boone County schools should be producing more QB prospects. I'd like to hear the perspective of those coaching in the youth league in Boone County. Does anybody throw the ball in that league?
-
Other than Drew Barker, and, discounting Tad Morgan, who I believe transferred in, I can not think of many quality QBs developed in any of the Boone County programs in the 12 or so years I've been paying attention to HS ball here. I have some thoughts on this issue, but I'll let you folks chime in first

Heat Index - Is your school following all the rules?

Eliminate the bye week. Start games after labour day. -
When I watch the Bengals, the thing that jumps out at me is that if Eifert or Green are not on the field, The Bengals offense is anemic. The defense has been more than adequate, but IMO, Dalton has not had the weapons (or OL) of the other AFC contenders, so I don't think put the lack of playoff success on his shoulders.

Simon Kenton's Ally Niece Injures Knee
Pioneer.Pride replied to coachforlife's topic in KY Girls Basketball (High School)
She probably does not get back on the court until January. Figure 4 weeks of practice before playing games and you are in February, when the intensity level is the highest of the season. I don't like those circumstances for coming back. I don't care if it means SK goes out in region.
