  1. The 8th is a geographically diverse region with teams in NKy , Metro Louisville and Metro Lexington. It really makes it hard to keep up with the entire region, and from SK perspective, makes it challenging for post season awards because other programs don't see SK until the Regional Tournament. Anderson Co. owned this region for a long time and I would look at them as the primary challenger. Although, I must admit this is speculation on my part. BTW, those heights are old. Buckner is 6' 1" now.
  2. No. I bet its just a legacy thing. More of a kid pleasing the parent.
  3. She is already committed to Bellarmine.
  4. Father is HC alum. The question really is why did she not just go to HC in the first place? Family had a ton of support from SK community during the transition. Is HC in a strong position to win region 9 this year?
  5. SK camp is this week. 8am to 2:30 pm.
  6. Given how late Saban is in his career, I don't think that it is the easy answer. In addition, winning national championships while spectating from the bench is secondary to actually playing. It would be wise to insure there was an immediate need at his position. Also depends upon what the individual wants to do after football. Depending upon the goals of the individual, the right choice might be Duke, Vanderbilt or Northwestern.
  7. I love off season rumors!
  8. Why is it so difficult to move sophomores down to play freshman ball, or , even move up an elite 8th grader or 2? Game reps, even out of position, are valuable.
  9. Cincinnati Women's Sports Association to honor 27 women Tuesday One current and one former Lady Pioneer being honored. Abby Owings and Allyson Niece. Congratulations Ladies!
  10. Guess I had the wrong Lexi. Sorry didn't read the previous post.
  11. Has the Lexi Held transfer hit this thread yet?
  12. Maddie has had both injury and illness that got in the way of off season work.
  13. OHSAA: Dayton Dunbar players were instructed to lose intentionally "The incident occurred when Dunbar football players received instructions at halftime to lose the game intentionally so that the school would not need to report using an ineligible player and so that an additional Dayton Public School would qualify for the playoffs, according to the OHSAA. Game officials stopped the contest in the third quarter and brought both coaches to midfield, instructing them to tell their players to play the game correctly or risk stoppage of the game and further ramifications."
  14. Having BW on the SK schedule makes one scratch your head and ask what is the agenda here? Playing BW does not prepare SK for the caliber of athletes they will see deep in the playoffs, just as BW playing Ludlow does not prepare them for Mayfield.
  15. If travel were an issue, although I don't see why travel to Lexington would be, there are plenty of programs across the river that would challenge, but not overwhelm, SK more than what is on their schedule now. Anderson and Mason specifically come to mind.
  16. SK playing Beechwood is a lose , lose for SK. If they win, they are supposed to win, if they lose, then it is an embarrassment to a 6A school. SK depends on depth advantage too much. This works when playing a local schedule, but fails deep in the playoffs as the depth advantage disappears. SK doesn't belong scheduling the T's Males or BGs of the state. But they should be scheduling the Scott County , Lafayette and X's of the state. I am uncomfortable with the strength of the SK schedule.
  17. Isn't BC supposed to redistricting soon? That might improve the talent pool at Boone.
  18. SK, like Highlands, need drastic improvement on the defensive side of the ball. I thought Conner showed considerable improvement last year and could be ready to challenge. Ryle is losing a D1 QB, and Cooper a D1 receiver. Hard to replace that in one year. Only BW will challenge for a title.
  19. Jumping in the air to make passes. Telegraphing passes. No use of ball fakes. Forgetting defensive assignments. Forgetting to box out.
  20. Post play is not what got SK beat. Deer in Headlights syndrome got SK beat. Too many kids reverting to old (AAU) habits under the pressure of the big stage. SK has three 6 foot sophomores . Hopefully, at least 1 will have the wisdom to hit the weight room.
  21. I love our kids and I love our coaches. I hate seeing our fan base eat each other up over a disappointing loss. You just have to realize that the path to success often goes through failure. SK has kids that are still learning to perform on the big stage. The coaching staff scheduled the season to try and prepare the kids for this tournament, but it just was not meant to be. Tournament experienced teams know how to leverage the incompetence of the officiating. Our program is not there yet. Please refrain from bashing kids or coaches.
  22. I said during the Christmas tournaments that some SK players disappeared on the big stage. SK missed too many free throws and had way too many unforced turnovers. You have to play well enough to overcome the officiating, and SK did not do that. The only way you get rid of the big stage jitters is to gain experience on the big stage. The Louisville programs, Mercer County, Franklin County are in the big tournaments year after year. Experience in tournament play is critical to success. Now, I'm going to make the aau crowd mad at me. Street ball is better preparation for tournament play than AAU. How many of these NKy girls have played on a "No Blood , No Foul Court"? I bet none here in NKy. You look at Butler, at ETown and even Franklin and these girls are just flat out tougher, mentally and physically, than kids here in NKy. I love it when I hear people say you have to adjust to the officiating. I agree completely, but the adjustment is not what you would think. If the officiating is calling ticky tac stuff on the perimeter , and allowing muggings under the basket, then you have to teach muggings under the basket. If body fouls that cut a player at waist are not called, then you have to coach body foul defending (prominent by smaller players). This was a year in which I witnessed a player throw 2 punches in a game without being disqualified. That calls for an adjustment in coaching philosophy. If officiating is going to allow this level of contact, don't fight it and complain, embrace it and coach it!
