Do they just stick with Cover 1 and Cover 4 then? Why no Cover 3? Especially in high school, it allows full field coverage while still allowing the Strong Safety to drop in the box to help with run support. Seems silly not to run.

Those were also different times, different coach, and definitely different teams. Not saying that Highlands can't do it by any means just making a statement that 4A playoffs and 5A playoffs are a different breed. Struggling early on and then hoping to make a playoff run won't be as easy as it may have before.

I'm taking Highlands on this one only because they can attack the field in more ways. But if they continue to have the tackling issues that they have shown in these recent games then it will be a long night. I see Dixie pounding it out on the ground attempting to limit Highlands chances. I understand staying true to your team and tradition but sometimes realizing its just not your year is ok. What some Highlands fan need to remember here is that this is 5A playoffs this year not 4A. It wont be quite as easy to run the mill.

While I don't disagree that the Brooksville Boys may be the largest, I would venture to say that Bellevue, Ludlow, and possibly even Nicholas are just as if not more physical than Bracken. But you know what they say.. Any Given Friday. :lol2:

If I were the Cooper D-Coordinator I would keep the safeties rolling by changing from Cover3 Cloud to Cover3 Sky. But this also depends on the athleticism of the Cooper LBs. Varying between these would give a Cover 2 look to Morgan getting him to put the ball in the middle of the field where there is a safety rolling to. Another coverage I like is the Cover 2 Man. Not many schools use this one but it can be very effective against a Deep Threat QB. Keeps the man to man coverage under with extra help over top. But if its raining Friday shots downfield will be harder to come by and plays in the favor of Cooper

This being a district game I would like to say that Bellevue somehow puts up a good fight but it seems in the last few weeks they are just throwing in the towel. Lets hope that this is not the case and the game is at least thought worthy. Its sad, Bellevue started strong but after their first loss it seems they have been drowning deeper each week.

Both teams beat Dayton by comparable margins. Brossart was 35-0 and Bracken was 40-0. On the flip side Bracken was beaten by Ludlow 24-6, where as Brossart just beat them 19-13. Seems to me that Brossart is just on a mission this year. Ill take Brossart by 3 TDs.

I will take Cooper on this one. TCA is a player that is fueled by criticism and doubt. I look for him to have a good game and by keeping the ball on the ground cooper limits Ryles chances.

This is from the Ludlow High School website. Which means Elm Street (Ludlows main road) will be closed by 6 pm. If you are planning to attend the game I would suggest you get there early in order to not sit in traffic waiting for the parade to finish.

I don't understand, if Beechwood is unhappy with their 1A district or look at them as "pushover" games, why didn't they press to move to 2A. I get they enjoy their dynasty, but shouldn't you strive to be champions at the best level you can?

Many expected Ludlow to pull off the win. I agree that Williamsburg is a good team and their schedule has much to do with their record. Just stating the talk of the watercooler.

If Bishop Brossart beats Ludlow this week by a fair margin, do you still feel Paris will go 10-0 untested or do you feel Brossart becomes a viable challenge?

Brossart is still holding a clean slate at 5-0 while Ludlow is coming off a surprising loss. Many believe Ludlow deserves to be considered for top 10 as well. Who wins this NKY 1A battle and why?

Yea I have no idea how those work. On some of those rankings there are teams ranked below teams that they beat... Flawed system if you ask me.

From what I can tell the kid playing JV QB looks to be a bright spot. He looks athletic and has a decent arm. Is he the man to take the starting job next year or is there someone above him?

I'm never one to say that its over especially after only half way through the season but this is not the same Highlands team that people expect to see. Hopefully things get clicking and luckily for them the other members of the district aren't outstanding either but it's hard to imagine that they make a long run in the playoffs. The season is usually an indicator of the post season possibilities. If highlands is going to start winning, now would be the time.

Being completely honest I have a hard time believing this is a parent posting this. Both my parents and my girlfriends parents told me I needed to stay and focus on school when I went away to college instead of encouraging me to come back for the weekends. I wasn't a college athlete and only went to a school an hour and a half away. I find it hard to believe a parent would encourage a freshman in college to come home the 1 day they have off every week instead of using that time to focus on school. Either this is the "daughter" posting, which would explain why the question isn't being answered. OR we have a parent who needs to focus on the real issue here which is to remove yourself from your child's relationship and encourage this young man to focus on the things that are important such as the education he is trying to receive and the sport that may be paying for that education.

I think with the way Holmes' Arnold is carrying the ball if they can keep it on the ground and win the time of possession then they walk away with this one.

^^^^ It's things like this that should be getting more attention on this site. Not silly post's about bands playing during opposing teams offensive drives... I would be interested in knowing other great things that programs do or have done for their community like this.

First off I would ask that you retract that last part. You will find that there are many very good and compassionate coaches out there. I'm not sure what your experiences were but I can tell you my coaches in High School were some of the greatest guys I have been around and taught me much. That being said many coaches, especially college coaches probably aren't enthused by him being distracted during the season and driving all the way home weekly. Them not practicing on Mondays is likely to give them a rest. If that player is on Athletic scholarship driving home as you would say it a far distance once a week rather than staying at school and focusing on school and football, I can see where they could be frustrated. But that is just my thought.
