Beechwood retains the top spot despite a loss to Covington Catholic. Paintsville win was unimpressive against a down Williamsburg. Pikeville took a loss to rival Belfry. Who is the real number one? Is Russellville being overlooked? Who's loss was more impressive: Beechwood, Pikeville or Raceland? Who needs to move up? Who should move down?

What this weekend told me was that the gap between Beechwood and the rest of the field isn't as big as some (including myself) thought.

I think the Top 5 are all within reach of each other then a clear step down to teams 6-9... and then a major step down to 10-whatever.

Raceland had the most "impressive" loss just because they should have won that game...but the team they played was not at the same level of Belfry or CovCath.

Paintsville's win was a bit of a red flag..but at the same time I use caution looking at it. Paintsville put up over 500 yards of offense. Williamsburg is not very strong but had the Tigers put a running clock up as expected they probably would be ranked #1 .

This week is a nice gut check for teams... Beechwood, Raceland, and Pikeville had thier gut check Friday:

Russellville vs. Murray

Paintsville vs. Bourbon County

If either wants to stake a claim at #1 they have to do it by convincing everyone this week

BIG week for Russellville!

BIG week for Russellville!

What do expect from the game with Murray?

What do expect from the game with Murray?

Honestly, I look for Murray's defense to be the best Russellville has faced yet. But I think the addition of Johnny Drumgole gives their offense and defense an extra spark they need to win this game. I do think it will be close. Can Russellville stop Murray's QB? They haven't faced a QB that good this year. Will be pretty fascinating. Russellville only plays anywhere from 21-25 kids a game, so does Murray wear them down?

Ultimately, I think Russellville makes a statement here at home and gets a big win 21-14.

That's a big statement. If Russellville wins, it will definitely make things interesting with the rankings.

I figured Paintsville would of jumped the Wood this week. Williamsburg has played an excellent schedule and lost to some quality opponents. Williamsburg strong point was suppose to be there defense and there offense would be way behind.

We finally get to see how Russellville will do against a top notch team and I think if they win we could see them jump to 3.

If Fairview loses to LCA does it merit dropping down?

I think Murray's program is struggling a little bit this year compared to it's teams of the past. Russellville should take this one by at least 3 TDs.

After looking at Murrays two games they lost it makes me wonder if Butler County could be better than Murray?
