  1. Very good summary CM. Enjoyed watching the broadcast last night also.
  2. Does anyone know when the King of the Bluegrass Tournament pairings will be announced?
  3. I can't speak for other schools but Coach Ron Reed is beloved by his players from Anderson County. When he celebrated his 70th birthday last year, over a dozen of us traveled 2 hours to be with him. There were also players in attendance from his other high school jobs as well as Milligan College, Ole Miss and Ohio Univ Southern and Kentucky Christian. He might not have won a lot of championships but he did do a great job of turning a lot of boys into fine men.
  4. Garman graduated. Anderson does return 3 senior starters in Penny, Gritton and Pittman. The other two spots are up for grabs with several Sophs making their cases to start. Gritton is often overlooked but he did average a double double last year.
  5. I'll agree that all of the names mentioned deserve consideration. I'll throw out one more as a complete "home court bias". Jimmy Dan Connor of Anderson Co was quite the player in leading AC to the 1971 finals and went on to a good career at UK and one season with the KY Colonels. Another name that I haven't seen mentioned yet but was a beast in high school was Durand "Rudy" Macklin of Shawnee. Same for Charles Hurt of Shelby Co.
  6. Remember it well. The afternoon featured sunshine which pushed the temps upward. Very gusty winds however. I was playing in a 2on2 basketball tournment after school at a friends house and we had to alter the shots because the wind was so strong. After riding my bike home, I spent the night either outside in my driveway looking at the surrounding skies or inside at a window. Once a storm tracker, always a storm tracker!!
  7. I have several t-shirts that I sometimes still wear that go back well into the 90's. Including the 96 championship shirts. I think the oldest I have is from a WV whitewater rafting company. It is probably about 30 years old.
  8. Glad you are enjoying the experience, Hellbird. This year was my 38th tourney having started in 1971. Missed a few in Louisville over the years but not many. Condolences on your sisters passing as well.
  9. Has SI gone to bi-weekly? They have only put out 4 issues in the last 8 weeks. Missed seeing any announcement on a change if so.
  10. 1 - Scott Co 1 - Bowling Green 1 - Harlan Co 1 - Perry Co Central 1 - Elliott Co 1 - Cooper 1 - Ballard 1 - Hopkinsville 2 - Bowling Green 2 - Perry Co Central 2 - Cooper 2 - Hopkinsville 3 - Bowling Green 3 - Hopkinsville 5 - Bowling Green Points - 132
  11. Making excuses for bad behavior sends the message that it's acceptable. It isn't.
  12. Two of the players clutched their throats towards the AC student section. They should have been more excited about celebrating with their teammates and fans then taunting others.
  13. I'll throw out a couple that haven't been mentioned yet. Jimi Jamison (Survivor) and Kevin Chalfant (The Storm, 707, Journey)
  14. I'd also like to see Christian Gritton of Anderson get some recognition but the list is a fine list of ballplayers. Congrats to them all.
  15. Bizarre half for Anderson. Penny had first 18 points, Gritton the next 10. Nobody else even came close to scoring
  16. Gritton with 8 straight Anderson points. Anderson 26-25
  17. To be fair with the pre-season predictions for Anderson, one of the questions entering the year was depth for Anderson. From the opening of the school year, Anderson has lost 3 of the top 8 projected players. This has forced them to go with younger inexperienced players that were not expected to get as much playing time at the beginning of the year. The preseason predictions were justified but can't apply now with the changes.
  18. Seriously? Anderson's out of region schedule has featured games with Louisville Valley, Johnson Central (#1 in the 15th), and Perry County Central (#1 in the 14th) as well as games against capable teams like West Carter and Central Hardin.
  19. The young man who had been starting for Anderson earlier in the year but has not recently has been dismissed from the team. Chance for some of the younger players to step up during the next month.
  20. And when was the last time that a Glen Drury coached team gave up 92 points in a regulation game. A real head scratcher.
  21. Anderson entered the school year with three potential players that would fill the absence of Gillis and then some. Unfortunately, all three are no longer with the team for a variety of reasons so the preseason predictions must be dampened somewhat. However, Coach Drury will get the most out of his roster and they will be a thorn in someone's side come tournament time.
  22. Thanks for the updates. I couldn't make the trip tonight.
