I'd also say it was an upset but Anderson has been playing very well the last 3 weeks or so. Gunner Gillis has been a big difference in his play as it took him most of the season to get over the rust from football season and then injury and illness. But the team is different when he has his energy level up. That being said, Cobe Penny was unconscious in the 4th quarter last night. 19 points. This might be one of those cases where a team who appears to be a year away (4 of top 7 are sophs), surprises people by over achieving a year early.

Austin Cummins finished his career with 22 points for Anderson, 18 coming in the first quarter. Shelby went to a diamond and one defense on Cummins after the first. He finished with 9 assists.

Carroll, for some reason, decided to try and run with Anderson and trailed by 30 at the half. Cummins had 12 in the first quarter and finished with 19 in 2.5 quarters of action. Freshmen Cobe Penny and Gunnar Gillis combined for 28 while Dillon Harper added 11.

30th District is at Spencer County. As ColonelMike said, the seedings are set after tonights Shelby/Spencer game.

Cobe had a nice game Saturday and is starting to find himself as the season has progressed. The other freshman in the starting lineup, Gunnar Gillis, didn't have much of a game due to foul trouble but he has been contributing of late also. Two other freshmen playing JV may be ones to watch in the future as well. One, Christian Gritton, is the son of Orbrey Gritton, who is in the Transy Hall of Fame and played briefly in the pros in Holland. Looking for him to grow a little more as he's only about 6'3 now.

He has really worked hard to develop his game in the last two years. As a sophomore, he was strictly a spot up three point shooter. He has learned how to use his speed and ball handling to get to the basket now. And also realized that he can rebound by getting into position with his quickness. He's also learned that there is a defensive side of the court (how could you not under Coach Glen Drury) and utilizes his quickness to obtain steals.

Final from the Gary Moore Classic on Saturday at Franklin County. Austin Cummins had 30 for Anderson along with 13 rebounds and 6 assists.

I was hoping for a loaded Wednesday with more predictable games on Thursday as UK will probably be playing in Louisville on Thursday in NCAA and I've got tickets :thumb:

Anderson Co 95 Gallatin Co 78. Anderson's Austin Cummins nets 38 one night after going for 51 against Clark Co. He was 13-14 from the field, 8-8 FT and 10 assists. He has raised his average to 25.3 through 21 games this season.

Just a slight correction from the earlier posts, the name of the Anderson player is Cummins not Cummings. Thanks for the full stats from the game. I had to miss it to attend the UK game.

Thank Colonel Mike. You do an excellent job. Anderson County seems to have found some others to contribute besides Austin Cummins but they are probably a year or two away with their youth movement. Have two other current freshmen, not playing varsity now, who may start to contribute in bigger ways next year.

Anderson County takes the #2 seed behind Collins in the district with an overtime win. Spencer and Shelby will play next week with winner taking the #3 seed in a closely contested district.

Any idea on who might be leading the state in scoring so far this season. I know that Anderson County's Austin Cummins is averaging 24.1 with three games of 37 or more.
