  1. 31 Year’s at Anderson. A couple prior to that at Western Anderson
  2. Longtime Anderson Co head coach, Glen Drury, was struck by a car while riding his bike between Lawrenceburg and Frankfort yesterday. Driver ran a stop sign and hit him at a high speed. He has several fractures in his pelvis but it is miraculous that it wasn’t worse. Please keep Coach and his family in your thoughts and prayers.
  3. In both Scott County/Trinity and Pikeville/John Hardin games yesterday, the teams that ended up losing made the decision in final possessions to not apply pressure defense in the last possession when they had two fouls to give before bonus. In both instances, the teams chose not to be aggressive and each resulted in game tying or game winning three pointers. I was astounded that neither team used those fouls to get get time off the clock and perhaps force a turnover. Was just wondering if those here felt the same about those decisions?
  4. Anderson probably a year away. Only one senior and several freshmen and eighth graders played big roles this year. Boblitt and Ruble both juniors.
  5. Don’t have actual numbers but Gritton carried AC in first half and Pittman in the second half. Cobe Penny had an off night shooting and was in single digits. Gritton, who was shooting 40% from the line, nailed two FT for the final margin.
  6. The post that 4 Quarters is referring to is a weekly post. The latest is "Inside the 8th Region - 2/12/18". it's about 10 posts below this one in the forum listing. Anderson County Shelby County Collins Spencer County Walton Verona Simon Kenton Williamstown Owen County Trimble County Eminence Carroll County Henry County Grant County Oldham County South Oldham North Oldham Gallatin County
  7. Thank for the clarification. Luckily, the game was a 12 point game and this play had no bearing on it. Was just such an unusual play that i wondered after the fact if it was correctly applied.
  8. It was indeed ruled a two pointer without any discussion as at the time it seemed correct. But thinking further, what if a three pointer is attempted and the defensive player jumping from inside the arc touches it on a block attempt and it still goes in. In your logic that the last person to touch the ball was inside the arc, then that would also be a two pointer. Just wondering how the rules handle these situations.
  9. Offensive player outside the three point line throws a pass across the lane. Defensive player deflects the pass into the basket. Is it a two or three point goal as the last offensive player to touch it was outside the arc? This actually happened in last week's Anderson/Gallatin game.
  10. One thing is for sure, tournament time in the Bluegrass will again be exciting and insane. Not only the depth and competitiveness in the 8th Region, but just look at some of the others as well. The 11th Region is crazy with Scott Co, Lafayette, Bryan Station, Catholic, Christian, and Madison Central all in the top 13. If you love basketball, you are in for a great month coming up.
  11. With his 23 points against Maysville St. Patrick, Cobe Penny passes his brother CJ Penny to become Anderson County's all-time leading boys scorer. Cobe now has 2,102 points in his career. The overall scoring record belongs to their cousin, Eriel McKee, current Morehead St player, who scored over 2,600 points in her career.
  12. Having seen all three games of Anderson against Collins, Spencer, and Gallatin, I'd give a very slight edge to Collins over Spencer, with Gallatin a step behind those two.
  13. Saw Jason Isbell in December at Louisville Palace. Excellent show.
  14. Thanks as always for the summary CM. Spot on analysis. Should be a great finish over the next month.
  15. I've been going for the past 35 years. The conflict with the NCAA is an issue when UK plays at the same time as one of the sessions. Big hit on attendance there. The Wifi issue has been addressed as Rupp now has public access available during all events. And I also agree that the lack of a program, while not a contributor to the attendance problem, is something I really miss. I also collected all of the programs and could go back and relive memories of great teams/great games. One thing I'd like to see is the time between games and halftime shortened. I attended the King of the Bluegrass last month and they had 10 minutes between games. This really kept things moving well.
  16. Anderson County since 2002 Eric McKee 1106 CJ Penny 2101 Jacob Russell 1601 Austin Cummins 1563 John Paul Garmon 1007 Cobe Penny 1960 and counting
  17. Nice to see Anderson County with a little recognition. Very young team with only one senior. Three of four losses have come to teams ranked above them. Face top ranked Mercer County next Monday.
  18. This was an unusual game. Both Penny and Faulkner got two fouls in the first 4 minutes and sat the bench for the remainder of the first half. Don't know point totals but both were below their averages. I'd guess Penny scored a few more. The ending was confusing as previous stated. Pittman's 3 that pulled Anderson to within one came with just under 5 seconds. In the scrum to try and get Faulkner to inbound the ball, the AC player was well out of bounds. Both players were correctly called for technicals and the game was over.
  19. Wait a couple of days and we will probably see on the court. They will meet in the King of the Bluegrass. Also, from what I saw yesterday, Fairdale probably deserves a place somewhere in the Top 20 from the way they handled Bowling Green.
  20. The margin was 8 at the half when I arrived and then Ballard went on a big run in the third to push the lead to 24. It was 25 when Renner put the bench in with 2 minutes to play. Walton kept the starters in and they cut the lead to the final 15 margin.
  21. Trinity is very impressive. I was also sitting with some of the Trinity parents and they were also impressed with Cobe Penny. I believe he had 31.
