  1. Friend says England was on sideline in a boot cast. He also said that Conner flat outplayed Ryle. The only had like 16 or 17 players dressed.
  2. Exactly Grappler, the monies get distributed all over the state, but the areas with the biggest tax bases are not seeing any of it it appears. Or it is being used elsewhere. But how on earth do these schools in the middle of nowhere have these well above average to awesome facilities and schools like Boone, Conner and Cooper have cow pastures for fields. I don't get it!
  3. I agree that it is 4 schools to 1, but it is also about 8000 students to 1500-1800 difference just in grades 9-12 between the 2 counties school boards. It is a big expense to upgrade facilities, but in the long run cost of things it needs to be done now, 5 or 10 years from now it will cost double. Build bigger for the future not lets wait and see what happens then you are kicking yourself in the rear! Money is there they just need to go after it and get the job done! Take a few minutes sometime and Google map the schools out east like Belfry or Paintsville, or Bowling Green pick your school and look at their facilities. Where did the money come from? Its there!
  4. We can dog this program or that program for scheduling etc. Or Lexington is weak, or NKY is weak. Facts are facts. Since 1998 finals, only 11 teams have been there. Trinity 13 times, St X - 6, Male - 5, Scott County - 3, then Tates Creek, Bryan Station, Lafayette, PRP, Dixie, Simon Kenton, and Ryle all once each. Obviously it is the Louisville teams everyone has to try and top year in and year out. No reason why some teams can't step it up. Truth be told, with Simon Kenton's school district being open enrollment I think they have the best chance! If my kid was a stud and I live in Kenton County that's where he is playing no doubt. Boone County schools are growing so fast and furious they have trouble with diluting their talent. You must live in their boundries to attend a certain school.
  5. Need to check Ryle stats there Bandit. I do believe they are rushing the ball more than throwing this year, so far. Ryle is two dimensional for sure this year it appears. But back to the thread. Until some one knocks off SK in NKY they are king! Personal opinion though they will never make a big time run at the finals until the strength of schedule get better. Ryle beefed theirs up next two years adding Lasalle dropping GRC. Is that a tough game yes, but in order to get better you have to play stronger competition to show the players where they need to improve, also shows the coaches where they need to improve!
  6. If more than two assisted with a tackle as a stat guy, I always converted that to a team tackle!
  7. You don't tackle, teams score!
  8. Watched the feed on here. 2nd half Ryle killed themselves again with costly mistakes. The Raiders better learn how to tackle! They can hit it appears but don't seem to wrap people up!
  9. Way to step up Campbell County School Board. Can you all take over for the Boone County School board too! Make smart decisions for the benefit of the student athletes!
  10. Heard it was because they couldn't get a game with Henry Clay. Not sure. But Grant County freshman and Sophmores vs. straight freshman is ok. Better than no game. Hell Cooper playing NCC. NCC is 2a. Grant County is 3A. Why is Cooper playing NCC at varsity level, kinda like Simon Kenton playing CAL. Everyone has to be critical about everything gesh!
  11. Spread Offense - As long as the offensive player is given the advantage by the rule book over the defensive player it will continue to evolve into the offense of choice. In my opinion the influx of the spread offense has been one of the leading factors for more injuries in football. The wide open style has players wanting to make the "big hits" to separate the ball and receivers. The wing-t style or option style offenses had more knee and leg issues not head. But hey there are many factors and another thread for that! I think true football is like a game of chess. Moves, counter moves. Teams that are able to adjust both offensively and defensively to what others give and take. Good players and coaches can do that at most levels. Its the ideology of the coaches. Some are willing to adjust some are not. No right or wrong just ideologies!
  12. Just saw on twitter, that the Ryle Freshman defeated a Grant County Froshmore team 35-0. Great start for the young Raiders. Does anyone have any info on who played well or stats?
  13. So that county is now experiencing what has happened to Boone County? Think about all the talent on all 4 teams in Boone county over the last several years, now put it all on one team or even two. It will be tough for Warren Central to ever get back to the level they enjoyed before!
  14. Having been in this situation as a coach. Not knowing the reasons why there was conflict. I do not feel this is a bad thing for the program. Obviously other coaches in a program this size can step up and the kids won':t miss a beat. If the coach stayed on and the problems continued to fester like any other infected wound it would have started to affect the team adversely! It probably worked out best for all parties involved! :idunno:
  15. HC is very athletic! Could pose a problem for Ryle's lineman
  16. Makes no sense. Simon Kenton is clearly #1 until someone up here beats them. At least that is how it use to be for Highlands anyway! lol:popcorn:
  17. Switzerland County deserves a lot of praise on here. They started a football program at a time when there is a lot of people questioning football safety etc. they will be playing 3 or 4 Kentucky teams this year. Keep it positive on here about them support a program trying to build itself up! Heard a great story about Dayton and new uniforms last night. These kids need the support not the put downs!
  18. Covington Catholic played hard! Both teams had players cramping. Ryle is the better team. If they had not killed themselves with penalties they easily had two more scores. Those are correctable miscues. the CCH crew will be just fine when they get some kids back healthy.
  19. I guess basketball takes a back seat to all sports at Beechwood!
  20. Does anyone one have the size on this young man, or picture? Want to know what he looks like so I can be on the lookout for him. Sounds like a tough young man already! :isurrender:
  21. Interesting that they are all in the same class. I know Ryle has an awesome incoming freshman. Did they play AAU together? Attend camps together? What made Ryle the common denominator?
