  1. I'm guessing $1000-$1250. Not enough to deal with the stress and headaches that is for sure.
  2. That's ridiculous. You are correct. Wonder if that amount is set in stone?
  3. That is correct. Here is the link. Field will be ready by next season. Morgan County Schools
  4. Brian Turner was let go last week after 9 seasons with the Cougars. Anyone hearing of any possible candidates for next season?
  5. I think Magoffin has had a few key players hurt in their first couple of games. They are probably a top 3 team in the 15th region this year.
  6. That's a good frontcourt with those two. Who do you think is more valuable to their team, Jordan or Roe? I think Roe is very good. He does it all. Rebounds, shoots it well, and can take guys off of the dribble. Gonna be a battle between them and Elliott in that district. East not far behind them.
  7. And like someone said earlier. Everyone please remember for the seniors that lose this game that for most of them it will be their last game. I'm hoping for an injury free game and I'm sure both teams will leave it all out there on the field. Good luck to both teams. Can't wait to watch it.
  8. I predicted 28-20 Tigers to win. Never said they had it in the bag. Some may have said that. But Paintsville being at home and already beaten Raceland at their place I think are two big advantages in the Tigers favor. Regardless should be a great game. Wouldn't be surprised if Raceland won though. Talent wise these teams match up pretty evenly I think.
  9. 24 carries for 159 yards and 2 td's in the first match up. Not a bad night. If you can stop him from rushing for under 200 yards Friday night Rams will have a chance. Who is better than Phelps? And that's just it. You said if you contain Phelps in the first game you win that one. Can Raceland contain him? Good defense but Phelps is just faster than the opposition, hard to contain that much speed. Looking forward to a good game.
  10. Kent Phelps will be the best player on the field Friday night. So explosive. The game at Raceland earlier in the year could have went either way. A lot of penalties in that game and I feel like it was hard for either team to get much of a rhythm going. Raceland has good balance, and if they stay disciplined can cause Paintsville some problems. But I think Paintsville at their place is too much to overcome. I'll take Paintsville 28 Raceland 20.
  11. Definitely the Ashland/Bourbon game. That should be a real good game!
  12. That may be true. I do know Belfry is big and very physical. Just thought Fleming may have a few athletes that could find the field for a team like Belfry.
  13. I agree with you, things like that are very hard to judge. It's like saying that certain players from the 60's or 70's couldn't play with today's athletes. Whose to say that is true or not? You know Fleming county better than I do, so I will take your word that they would have at least 3 players get some playing time for Belfry. But do you see what I am saying? Who knows who is capable of playing for other teams?
  14. So with 22 players on offense and defense plus special teams you think that Fleming would not have another kid besides their QB even take the field if he played for Belfry? Come on now, that may be stretching it a bit. I know Belfry is great, believe me I know that. But Fleming county does have a few good athletes that I believe could and would contribute for Belfry. Morgan county was terrible this year, and I'm pretty sure that two of their kids could play for even Belfry on either side of the ball. I know Fleming has better players than Morgan did this year so I am doubting that statement you made. Sorry just what I think. BTW, I think Belfry wins class 3A and rolls through everyone. They are loaded.
  15. I don't really know much at all about the Fay kids. Other than their stats from last year at Tates Creek that's posted on khsaa website. They are both athletic and physically strong kids, sorry don't really know anything else.
  16. Morgan has two players returning with any significant varsity minutes from last season. Jr Michael Prater 8.6 ppg and 5.8 rpg, and 3 pt specialist Soph Blake Evans 5.8 ppg. However Tates Creek transfers Dakota Fay 7.5 ppg and his brother Joe Fay will help. Morgan will still be very inexperienced and I would think another Jr, Josh Adkins would be the 5th starter. All 4 players around 6'2 or 6'3 and Evans at 5'10. Also Freshman Jacob Helton 6'1 should get a lot of minutes, athletic kid who can score. I expect an 8-10 win season for the Cougars and for them to battle it out with East Carter for a 3rd place district finish. With of course Elliott and West the top two teams in the district and possibly the region.
  17. Paintsville 45 Paris 7 Paintsville will rest some starters. The Tigers are just on a different level. And I believe this is Paintsville's year.
  18. That will definitely help them. So his dad continued to coach for Sheldon Clark while he played for Mercer Co last year? thanks
  19. Has Sheldon Clark improved since last year. They were 9-22. I don't see them coming close to beating Elliott unless they have some new players.
  20. The players want and need a new coach. There are some really good athletes in the school that played football prior to their high school years. And several that played some of their high school years. The kids will come out to play with someone else leading them. We had 38 players last year, had we had a different coach last year I feel that # would be over 50. We are down to 16 now. They are only losing 4 players that have contributed much this year. Not sure if the coach will be back or not. You hear so many different things. One thing is for sure. If there is not a new coach next season Morgan will struggle to field a team. I feel like for their first high school head coaching position it would be a good job. A lot of support with the boosters here, and people will fill the stands if we are competitive. Not only that, I feel it is the weakest district in 3A in the state.

  21. Well, I will begin by saying that there is only 16 players currently. And of those 16 or so a couple are playing hurt. There are 0 freshman on the roster, that is correct. The coaches son a Jr has been a QB ever since he was probably 8 years old. He is not the best option for that team at QB. Great kid, but just not athletic enough to be a high school QB. So after 4 games this season and Morgan putting up 10.5 points per game they switched QB to Michael Prater and moved their QB to a WR. Prater is a junior, and I would say without a doubt the best athlete in the school. But he has not played football since his 6th grade year. That's a lot of valuable time missed and it is hard to regain some of those skills. The last 4 games Morgan is averaging 19 points per game. A little better but not enough to be competitive in a very weak district. Prater also broke his collarbone in the first scrimmage game of the year and missed the first 4 games. They have a lineman who weighs 250 and another that weighs 230. The other boys are all under 200 pounds on the line. The center who is 6'2 and 280 is out for the year. With 16 players no way kids are not going to be exhausted because these kids are. They only played 13 players the game against Powell County, and 14 against Knott co central. Their best returning sophomore decided not to play and is focusing on basketball. Plus another 7 kids from the sophomore class. Their best lineman and defensive end from last season transferred to LCA this season. Several seniors and juniors would not come back out and play this year either. Probably another 10 or so. Kids that have been playing football their whole life. I know the answers to the questions asked previously but I would rather you pm if you have any. Don't want to say too much publicly. A lot going on right now with the football program. The 8th grade does have a team, the 7th grade had to use some 6th graders to play this year and only got two games in. So a lot of the 7th graders played up with the 8th grade team. Not 100% sure but I believe the 8th grade is 1-7. Being from Morgan co it is very difficult to watch. No we have never had great teams here in football but as weak as this district is if our players from the previous seasons were playing Morgan would be right in the thick of things in the district.
  22. That makes sense since his son is going to Pikeville college. Not saying he gets the job just saying it does seem possible.
