Belfry is clearly the favorite here and will likely win the state championship. What are you looking for in this playoff opener?

Blowout city. Belfry can probably name the score this week and next.

And the next and the next and next

Maybe not that third next, but who knows?! :lol2:

LAst year I thought Bath was a little awe-struck and it showed as Belfry had 40 point in the blink of the eye aided by Punt Returns and Defensive TD's

I think Bath adjusts to the bright lights of CAM Stadium a little better and equates themselves much more competitively.

I will say Belfry 43-7.

36-0 slightly before the Half, then each team scores in the 2nd Half on the running clock.

I predict a long trip filled with pain and devastation.

Belfry 55-6.

The gap is wide between these two teams and Belfry will win comfortably but I don't want to say anything disrespectful to Bath County. They played hard last year, even though they were outmanned. Belfry returned a couple of kicks, plus caught a couple of late breaks by the 2nd and 3rd teams that made the final score look worse than it really was.

There are positives for both teams to come away with here. Belfry will work on some things they need to work on, and will play the younger guys and get them some meaningful minutes. Bath County can measure their improvement from a year ago, and focus on player development and build on that. I hope they bring a nice crowd to cheer on their team and I hope nobody gets hurt.

Is Bath County's enrollment growing?

I know they were once 1A and then after the change to 6 classes they were 2A for a while. Now they've been 3A for a few years.

Bath County will show up and play hard and thats all you can ask of a young team. They have started/ played 10 sophomores and 2 freshmen thruout the course of the year. They have some solid Seniors but it is a small class in numbers. Same thing for the Junior class - some solid players but a small class. They will return nearly their entire team next season AND the following as they have solid numbers in the freshman and sophomore classes as well as the 2 classes currently in the middle school.

As far as the enrollment it about the same. Still officially a large 2A school but there is not a 2A districts even close by. West Carter is in the same position so both play up. (last alignment 1st draft had both in NKY district 2A with NCC, Newport, Lloyd, and Holy Cross. All over 2.5 hour bus ride away) Both always play the teams in the district historically anyway so no big deal.

That is good stuff.

You have to admire a program like that. I hope they keep improving as those young guys gain experience.

They are actually 2A in size, but have played up to 3A because of geography. The original alignment, before teams moved up, had them in a district with Newport Catholic, Covington Holy Cross, Lloyd Memorial, and Newport. Obviously, playing up into a district with Fleming, Lewis, Russell, etc. made much more financial sense. I believe West Carter made the same choice.
