I thought this game would be tight and Simon Kenton might come out on top. Was hoping for an Oldham Co Vs Simon Kenton final.

From what I read the "rest of the world" is not united in using the FIFA 7 rule (no re-entry per half, max of 18 players on the game day roster) in their countries youth's league. You can't assume when looking at other countries youth national teams competition that their leagues are conducted in the same manner. Youth soccer leagues in comparison to youth international or DA can be very different in a number of ways. One thing a lot of S American and Euro countries do differently then the US, they put much, much more emphasis on player development Vs winning during their players youth playing days. In this vein I completely agree "we have yet to catch up to them." And sadly, I'm not sure we ever will.

I would not move so fast to implement the no re-entry into "ALL leagues" other then rec. One can argue on one side of the coin it goes against development. Such as its hard to develop when you're sitting on the bench for 50 minutes of the 60 minute match. The no re-entry can keep kids on the bench a lot longer then when there is unlimited subs. This rule also prevents a coach from pulling a kid out to make a direct coaching point then put the kid back in after a few minutes. Many are to quick to treat youth players as professional players, or HS age players as college players, they are not. A 15/16 year old kid is no where close in physical or mental development/maturity as a 19/20 year old collegiate player, yet I have heard many youth coaches say, "well they will be ask to do this when they play in college" to explain their reasoning behind some of their decisions when coaching 15/16 year olds. Coach and train 15/16 years olds like a they are 15/16 years old.

Looks like two interesting first round matchups and two not so interesting, and it's nice they are on the same side of the bracket. St Henry Vs Cooper and CCH Vs NCC should be fun to follow. Whoever wins these games will likey need to stay with their strength deep into the game, causing equal fatigue going into Thursday's semi finals. Top half of the bracket projects more one sided games, possibly providing HHS and Ryle to be well rested for Thursday. On paper the brackets set up perfect for equal, very competitive semi finals.

Could make for some very competitive first round games in region 7. District winners: Trinity, Collegiate, Christian Academy, Dupont Manual. District losers: St X, Ballard, Atherton, St Francis.

I'm not sure 1200 is enough. At 11 nominations per team this would only include 109 teams. Not sure how many boys teams are in KY, the Maher system ranks 1 through 177.

Thanks for the additional information YC and warbeagle. And I wasn't aware KY POY of the year was for seniors only. So we're off... to the infamous list of the top 10, oh I mean top 100 players. Typically this is a top 10 (sorry, top 100) best players thread in NKY. But since warbeagle has so graciously included Louisville, Lexington, BG, plus I can see this becoming the top 1000. Just one rule, you can only nominate 11 from your own team.

I totally agree, teams are built differently. Good coaches build their teams to take advantage of their players strengths. Mr Thomas is a pretty good player to build around. A closer look at Jeff Thomas's stats and I came away even more impressed then just the 24 goals scored while playing against a SoS 19. Just a few notes on him. He has some big goals (I forget what you (Sir!) called them) "important goals" gets us close. * He scored all 4 goals in a 4-3 win over Castle, IN. * He scored both goals in a 2-1 win over N Oldham. * He scored the lone goal in a 1-1 tie with S Oldham, Oldham wins in PKs. * He scored 2 goals in a 3-1 win over Simon Kenton. * He scored the lone Oldham goal in a 3-1 loss to a very defensive tough Trinity team. * He scored only 3 goals in their lone 10-0 win. (no padding the stat sheet) * Has played in 20 of their 22 games so far. FYI: I am not related nor do I even know this kid. But looking at some of his stats he is impressive and in my book should be on the short list for KY POY. The players that play and produce on a consistent basis against the best teams and produce when the game in on the line are the real quality players in my book.

Holy Cross is just down a bit it happens, look around. They have had good teams in the past and I'm sure they will again. Over all I think its more a reflection of the improved level of play in the 35th District. Beechwood and Holmes have had very successful seasons. Beechwood is 9-9-3 and have earned their first regional appearance. Holmes went 11-6-2, I'm not sure what they loose to graduation but I would expect them to contend for a regional spot next season. Boys soccer is on the wise in the 35th District.

Wow want a turn around. Brossart starts the season 0-7 to a Regional appearance, congratulations.

HC packed it, 10 behind the ball at all times through the first 20-30 minutes. HC keeper played well, can't say any of the 10 goals were a direct result of anything he did wrong. The woodwork did play its part, in helping the game go on a little longer. The game doesn't even get through regulation, over in the 67th minute.

Seriously? I recommend you both request an Uber when you finish drinking your lunch.

Sounds more like an opinion to me. I'm not in the know about which kids should be looked at by whom. I may be wrong but I assume these major college BB programs have scouts in all of the regions in the country and they don't make a habit of sending their coaches across the country to watch a HS off season practice unless they have a really, really good idea the kid can play for their program.

This one surprises me, outcome and score. NCC only scoring twice is as much a surprise as them giving up 4. Should give Calvary some confidence going into post season play. Is the 10th region a two horse race, Campbell Co and Calvary?

I love the double header, sounds like it was a great atmosphere at St Henry last night. YC is correct, to date Campbell Co has 5 losses, all against 9th region teams. Vs Anderson OH on Saturday may change this. Based on scores Campbell Co is the favorite to win the 10th region. 3 goals better the Calvary Christian, 2 goals better then Pendleton Co, 2nd and 3rd in the region.

I took post #2 as a little harsh, Allamerican21 I find it interesting that you know for certain why the Villa coach canceled the Boone game. Congratulations on the record Villa, shutouts are a total team effort. Villa has a tiny pool of players, I think around 400 total students boys and girls in K-12. For them to have 9 consecutive shutouts and 11 so far this season is remarkable.

I knew Summit was good, but WOW they won even though CCH had 15 people on the field. The time keeper running around on the field is one I will have to watch for, have never seen that happen before.

Nice effort CCH. One of those rare cases where you can feel good the next morning after a loss. CCH showing a lot of character these past few weeks, sounds like last night was full of character and courage! As soccerlogic pointed out, "Summit is better this year than last year. CCH is worse this year than last year." Last year, Summit 5 - CCH 2. This year, Summit 3 - CCH 2. Keep proving them wrong CCH.

Depending on the year and the state ODP can certainly be diluted. Some very, very good players simply make a decision to not participate in the ODP program for a number of different reasons. If any of Summit's players are on the Regional ODP team (Region II), then this is a different story. Even thought this regional ODP team can be a bit political, it's still a nice thing to have on your resume.
