They also now hold an additional school record for most shut-outs in a season with 11. Currently at 10-3-3, the defense has posted an impressive 0.75 (0.8) cumulative average goals allowed per game.

Last night was a good game. Probably the best Ludlow played all year. I'm not sure Villa was expecting a tight game. Ludlow's goalie is a senior, but a first year soccer player, Hayley Warndorf. She was great yesterday!

Congratulations on the record Villa, shutouts are a total team effort. Villa has a tiny pool of players, I think around 400 total students boys and girls in K-12. For them to have 9 consecutive shutouts and 11 so far this season is remarkable.

I think Boone has been ducking Highlands for 2 years now.

Not so fast my friend!! 2 years ago Boone had to cancel because they were forced to make up a game with one of the Oldham co schools or they were going to force them to pay the fee for not playing the match. Can't remember if it was North or South Oldham but this is what was told to me directly from the Boone coach.

 

Last year Boone had to cancel simply because of numbers. As most people know Boone only had 2-3 subs most of the year. They had 2 girls get injured in the St Henry game and decided to cancel. Boone tried to reschedule at a later date but nothing could be set.

 

This year Boone had Walton scheduled for Friday sept 30th. A couple weeks before decided to drop this home game and play @ highlands. Early that week Boone coach gets an email from highlands that they have to cancel the game due to the junior/Sr girls playing a powder puff football game.

 

Still think Boone is ducking highlands??

The game was canceled on Tuesday, a day prior. District seeding games had to be played by yesterday - think ADs called this one to get results and District tournament schedule out.

 

VMA was to play Boone on Wednesday, Ludlow on Thursday and Calvary on Friday - 6 games in 8 days because of the rainouts, 11 in the last 18. And 2 more games were to be made up but no refs were available. Life happens.

 

I wish they would have played Boone prior to districts - it would definitely help prepare them for Dixie and St. Henry again.

 

And yes, Ludlow played well. Crawford and Warndorf are good athletes. Congrats to them.

Js Boone's coach didn't get notified til late morning on wed that villa had to play Ludlow @5 and not Boone. Would have been nice to have more time than a few hours to find a replacement game. I understand the rule says all district games must be complete by 10/5. Conner/cooper will play today but had to flip a coin this morning to see who the 3-4 seed was going to be. Villas coach should have known the game needed to be completed before wed and he should have at least contacted Boone earlier than 7 hours before kickoff and told him the situation.

Actually, the Villa coaching staff and players were quite disappointed to find out that the Boone game needed to be canceled last minute because their District seeding game versus Ludlow had to be played Wednesday per KHSAA guidelines. It was rained out earlier in the season and rescheduled for Thursday. In fact, what was supposed to be a Home game for Ludlow resulted in a Home game for Villa because of the last minute change, without any complaints from Ludlow who understood the necessity of getting the game played under deadline.

 

Villa Boys Senior Night is Thursday, so the Villa field was out for a Home reschedule with Boone on Thursday - I assume the Boone boys are also playing at Home (quite honestly, I am too busy to check other teams schedules, but feel free to verify if it is that important to you).

 

Friday was out for Villa because they have to play Calvary for a Conference deciding match-up (which was rained out during the Villa Girls Senior Night) and because they need to get this game in, Villa has agreed to an Away game due to field conflicts on Friday.

 

Saturday, Villa is hosting an all day Frosh/JV tournament.

 

I believe you can see the Villa coaches were out of options for a reschedule with Boone, but by NO means was it to avoid playing them because of setting records.

In fact, most of the girls were not even aware of breaking the record until AFTER the game, as the coaches refrained from mentioning it.

 

Let me make it clear, the girls had already established the consecutive shut-out record on Monday, they just added one more to that streak last night. What they established in Wednesday's game was a new record for shut-outs in a season.

Playing Boone Wednesday might have stopped the consecutive streak but they were scheduled to play Ludlow on Thursday and could have resulted in the same outcome as Wednesday's game just one day later!

 

What I failed to mention in my original post in an attempt to keep things brief is that this Villa team consists of only 2 Seniors after graduating 9 last year. In addition, the Defense utilizes a Sophomore Goalie, with 1 Junior Full Back and an all Frosh/Soph Defensive Line. So, they are on the field together for the next two years! Their intense level of play this year given how young they are warrants a kudos for setting the school shut-out record. It is absolutely a team effort and their understanding of working together with a positive attitude is why they were able to reach this milestone.

 

I want to also comment that the Ludlow goalie played an EXCEPTIONAL game. She accounted for some incredible saves and prevented many Villa goals, stifling our offense. It was not until the second half that Villa was able to put one much less two by her. Well done for a first year goalie, enjoying her Senior year as I understand it.

All due respect, no dog in the fight, but if you think because you spoke with one parent you know the entire story of why a game was schedule where it was, you are terribly misinformed... Scheduling games is a collaborative process that, between coaches, AD's, officials associations, conference affiliations, district seeding, etc., is extremely complicated.

So when your team isn't able to find a date there are a lot of behind the scene legitimate reasons. No one is doubting that... Then why are you doubting another school?

I'm just saying Boone was told it was Ludlow that had to play this game on wed @ 5 and that is the only time they could play. I don't believe this was the case. I just think the coach didn't want to admit he dropped the ball on this. It's possible he overlooked the fact the game had to be played by 10/5. Idk just frustrating it wasn't communicated a lot earlier.

It looks like to me that on KHSAA scoreboard that Boone has already played 20 games. The limit is 21. So Boone couldn't have played both Highlands and Villa the last week of the season or they would have been over. Correct?

You are correct that Boone has played 20 games. I can't speak for what would have happened if Boone would have played HHS a couple weeks ago. I'm pretty confident the coach wouldn't have waited til the day of the match to let the Villa coach know that we are at our limit of games and can't play though

Maybe, but the Highlands game would have been a late add to put Boone over the limit when it looks like they already had enough games. To me it is shades of gray as to who wronged who the most here.
