LC's leading scorer Haji Abdikadir (40 goals) was out for this game. He didn't play in their 7-0 win over Male in the first round district game either. Anyone know the scoop? Will he be back for Regionals? Mirza Ugarak carried the load scoring both goals for LC.

I heard he tweaked his ankle about a week ago. It may just be precautionary at this point. They didn't need him the last couple of games to advance. Depending on the draw, they may not need him for the next game either.

St X and Ballard are both tough first round games. Ballard has lost to all three of their potential opponents already this year pretty handily. St X will be a hand full for whomever they play in the first round. Atherton and and St Francis are dogs and will be walkovers for whomever plays them. Atherton's keeper definitely has potential to change games.

 

Depending on the draw, we could see a final 4 in the region of St X, Trinity, Collegiate and Manual. Interesting stat. Besides their head to head competition, these teams have lost a combined 1 game this year.

Here is a thought and possibly a reason to examine who makes the regionals (if you truly want the best teams in the field.)

 

With what happened last night, you could define St. X and Beechwood (truly, no offense) as being at the same level. Both are second seeds coming out of their regions........If KHSAA could agree on a ranking system that is consistent, maybe the top 64 teams (or whatever number) should go......

Julian Tackett has said that the KHSAA values a more geographically diverse state championship bracket more than it does a more competitive bracket. Meaning they would rather an Eastern KY team advance a few rounds than the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th best team from NKY, Lexington, or Louisville.

Just read an article that says that Abdikadir suffered a dislocation of a knee cap earlier this month and he is unlikely to play again this season. That is a big blow.
