What year? Who won it that year?

I'm OK with the game being the day after Thanksgiving. It has some drawbacks, sure, but it gains a lot by being played at a time when football is on the minds of everyone. This may be the only All-Star team that you aspire not to be on.

I guess a similar case could be made about why the local paper still posts this poll. Believe me, no one that matters cares about the Lit rankings at this point. But you've got to admit its kind of crazy.

I have seen Trinity's schedule. Highlands isn't on it.

I wouldn't be so quick to give the Lit ranking the benefit of the doubt. The Lit ranking folks just may factor in any scores that Male and X players score in the Louisville East/West All-Star game Friday.:lol:

Not a second guess, I remarked about it when it happened. A number of folks in our area of the stands (including a few St.X fans) agreed that they would have kicked the FG. I think Coach Redman was trying to start some momentum and got a little greedy. I think 20-10 feels a lot better at half. JMO.

157, I think that everyone has been high on HC's talent all year (last year too). It remains to be seen if that can translate in to success on the field in the final rounds of the play-offs. If you check the various rankings they are usually one of the highest ranked non-Louisville 4A teams in the poll. I for one am on record as saying that HC last year was as talented as any team on the western side of the bracket. They were a very good team last year, but the Rocks just played better in the semi-final.

JimmyRef, How about not kicking the FG at the end of the first half. Male could have scored last. Then came out in the second half with even more Mo than they did. Not to mention if successful it would have allowed Male to kick a game winning FG at the end. Meanwhile, Coach Beatty kicked a fan-disappointing FG early in the 3rd after having it first and goal from inside the 5. The emotional choice would have been to go for it. I'm glad our coach made the correct if unpopular decision.

In the past I have defended the Lit ratings in the second half of the season as they seemed to always work themselves out. But this year takes the cake. A close loss to Male resulting in Male sqeeking out the number one spot...maybe. But St.X? The Tigers lost to Trinity and Male twice, and now the Rocks have defeated the team that defeated X. This poll makes the BCS look logical. I wonder how much imput Earl Cox has on the Lit rankings?

One large difference my old friend. That poster was talking about his own team (only slightly T in C). FYI, I'll have a similar post if and when Jody or his little buddy picks us to win Friday. This should be a pretty good game. HC has loads of talent and they are at home.

Even without any Trinity or Central kids there should be some great talent on the field. Where is the dividing line. Are X and Male on the same team? I've heard quite a bit about the talented kids from Western, will they be there? I'll be there, but I may have to leave a little early.:thumb:

Henry Clay's QB is a first year starter, a senior (I think). Henry Clay runs the Tony Franklin system so they throw the ball around a lot. The QB is surrounded by a lot of talent; they have a very big offensive line, a solid running game, and the best recieving core in the state. If Trinity gets a lot of pressure on Henry Clay's QB or if he gets rattled early, Chase Minnifield will go to QB no doubt. Minnifield is one of the best athletes in the state and is commited to Virginia. Someone who saw the Henry Clay/Bell County game might want to confirm this but I was told Bell Co. was up 14-0, Henry Clay put Minnifield at QB and he scored 4 TD's to give HC a 28-14 win. Thanks for the info. One question, if Minnifield is the answer at QB, why doesn't he start and play there? I would like to have an athlete like that touch the ball as much as possible. Bob Redman did this with Bush his senior year. Doesn't seem logical to waste the kid at WR where he gets the ball 10 to 12 times max.

I have heard that PJCS costs $7,500 to rent for a game. The teams must also forfeit concessions to PJCS. This would not be "cost effective" for all but a handful of schools.

Any reasons for this prediction? Or just wishful thinking?

Someone that has seen HC please tell me about their QB. I firmly believe at this level at this time of year a team's QB is the difference maker. Trinity has won four titles this decade and the QB play has been great. X won a title a couple of years ago and the play of their QB was critical. Its not the only factor of course, but I think the play of the QB is the single biggest factor in success or failure at this stage. I know HC had an excellent QB that was a four year starter last year. The Rocks put him into a pressure situation early, and it turned into long night for HC. Meanwhile, Petrino started hot and HC found themselves down early and never seemed to recover. JMO.

No one will challenge Mercer this season. They are a lock to win 2A this year. This is their year.

This is an interesting development. A few years ago Ryle did a similar "warm-up" prior to a game with Trinity at Trinity. After a blow-out Rock victory a number of rock fans pointed out the mid-field antics as a motivation to the Rocks. Many Ryle fans accused the Rocks of being too sensitive and making something out of nothing. Now this, very interesting. I still think Ryle makes it to PJCS. One suggestion, don't dance on the Bird.

I read something a few weeks ago that Will Wolfford and the Louisville Fire were going to sponsor an All-Star game the day after Thanksgiving. Does anyone know anything about this? Where? When? Who?

I don't know about that. If it ends up in a CovCath vs. BG final, it will be a tough game for sure. It certainly isn't a gimme just yet.

I sure hope Ryle isn't looking past Hendo. If they have come this far with all that they have faced this season, they must be a heck of a team. One game at a time.

I thought the same thing Bare, but when I watched the replay the play was signaled over right about at the 1 second mark. The clock man had to have a fast button finger for that one, but I don't think it was a quick button finger. In reflection, my motto is "all is well, that ends well". It was a great game by both sides.

Settle down fella. That poster is a fan of a team that has already checked in their gear and moved on to B-ball. You can bet that the Rocks are focused on nothing but their visit to Lexington and facing HC. It should be another nail-biter.

What ever happened to settling this debate on the field? This is the second year in a row that we've had to hear this "best team didn't win" comment. That must be the talking point of the district in western Louisville. How about the old saying that goes... "to be the best, you have to beat the best".

Illegal procedure. I would guess (couldn't tell from the broadcast) that someone didn't get set. I noticed a number of times that when Beaumont lined up wide (I was usually watching him, who wasn't?) he barely got to the LOS and set before the ball was snapped. Male went with a quick count pretty often and this may have caused it as well. I'll say this, it wasn't a late flag. It came out right away when the ball was snapped.
