Both of those kids are super players. The fact is we tackled very poorly at times and it almost cost us. Trust me, it didn't go un-noticed.

Lets be honest, do you really believe that Trinity is "scared" of Ryle? Face it, if the KHSAA hadn't reconfigured the playoffs in your favor (a fact noted in a thread on that subject on this board earlier this year) you would most likely have been eliminated already. Class? take your own advice.

I guess the good news is that kick-off problems only occur after you score. The Rocks faced two of the best return men in the state in back to back games (Minniefield and Beaumont) and we managed to win. They will get it fixed but I doubt that Ryle has anywhere near the skill kids of Henry Clay or Male.

I guess Ryle just never "wanted it" in years past? Who has Ryle played this season that is even close to Trinity?

Yeah, I think the last time these teams played Trinity out-physicaled your squad 49-zip. I guess we are in for another week of how the Rocks will get a lesson in "smash-mouth physical football". Sorry guys, I'm not buying. St.X was pretty darn physical last season and the Rocks managed to win. Male was pretty physical this season, ditto.

I wouldn't want to be in that special teams film session in the morning. Much work to do, but I trust they will get it done. Petrino was unreal tonight. Not bad for a kid that managed HM honors in his own district.

We measure success in state titles. We don't display district, region or runner-up trophies at Trinity. So if success is a winning season at Mercer, we're not on the same page. Next year Mercer will be in a class with one of the winningest programs in the state (along with a bunch of other great teams). My post was clear, I don't think anybody touches them this year but they won't win it all (state title) in the future after that. Of course its JMO, but I'll stick by it. Check back with me next season, and the next, and the next etc.

The latter, its just their turn. I don't think HC was even the #1 seed in their district.

I would love for JC to upset CovCath and advance to play Central (if they are able to upset BG). Could you imagine the story lines in the paper leading up to game. Inner-city Louisville team takes on Easter Kentucky for all the Marbles at PJCS. Plus all that black and gold on both sides would be cool.

No one will challenge Mercer this season. They will win by a large margin this Friday. They will by a similar margin in Louisville. Too much speed etc. for any 2A team to compete with. Mercer will romp through 2A this season on their way to 5A next season. They will be a sort of "one-hit-wonder" this season. Enjoy the ride.

HC50, didn't you play for Henry Clay recently?

Just returned from practice a little while ago. Interest seems very high for this game and tickets were selling briskly. I would guess the fan attendance for this practice was between 500 to 700. It was great to see so many former football Rocks from the past few years and beyond. As usual the donuts, coffee and hot chocolate were great. A copy of the Herald Leader sports section with a story about the game made its way around the crowd. It seems that a few of the HC players blamed last year's loss on the crowd noise at Marshall Stadium. I'm predicting plenty of green tomorrow night complete with similar volume. GO ROCKS GO!!!

Get off the Jacket's backs. I for one am hoping they shock the state and defeat BG. I wouldn't make negative comments about these young men until you've walked a mile in their shoes.

I've seen what Anderson and Beaumont can do on the big stage. There are a few guys that other folks call coach (like coach Rod and Coach Petrino) that think this duo are pretty special. If you guys get past Hendo (and I think you might) I'll come by PJCS to check the kid out. That the biggest stage of all at this point. Good luck.

What I would like to hear from HC fans is how this team compares to last year's edition. I know their big bruising back is gone, as is the QB. How do they stack up this year? How about their D? Better at stopping the run? or the pass? I guess Minniefield went both ways last year, how about this year? Any other kids go both ways? At what positions? If any Rock fans are interested. HC has a pretty nice web site at henryclayfootball.com. Click on highlights and there are several video clips of all of their games. Pretty good stuff.

Wow, the discussion on this game is really heating up. Which is kind of strage since I don't know of any Central fans on BGP. I really hope the Yellowjackets step up and defend the 'Ville. I'd be ther cheering, but I'll be busy down in Lexington.
