SK tends to play as many kids as they can. They platoon, but are not as deep as the previous 2 classes so they struggle. However, if they played their best players both ways they would be pretty good. This years SK's senior class went something like 3-7. Obviously, not indicative of the future.

Looks to be worse according to Maxpreps, they are 10-14 but heard they lost all 5 games at Cupcake classic, 2 of the games are not listed so that being the case they are 10-16 if that is indeed true, that would be a 9 game losing streak for the Varsity. If this winning percentage does not change this would be the worse season by far according to the Kentucky Scoreboard records in the last 13 yrs.

Maybe not an intentional holdback but you have at least 1 freshman that is a yr older because he told my son's friend that he was. #22

THe Sophomores were pretty good, especially the running back. He made some good runs and blocked well.

Farsfsing would help but you need some kids from the defense line on the O line and at the very least have the Sargent kid getting touches at slot or run a 2 set backfield like the HS does with Dillion and Hampton. Makes no sense why these 2 kids are not playing offense in some capacity.

One of the more strangest games I have seen for at least the first half. Not sure what the Simon Kenton coaches are thinking or doing. They go for it on their own 10yd line in the opening drive! Hoping the Coaches did not call that and maybe the QB took it upon himself to run? So Sk did not make it (4th and 15) and CC got the ball back with a short field and eventually scored. CC scored next on a pick 6. CC scored next on a fumbled snap/broken play as the QB did a good job picking it up and scrambling to his left and the corner and safety came up thinking he is running and throws to a wide open receiver. The last score of the half was a Hook & Ladder that was well executed for a score. SK coaches need to get there stuff together...they left their defense exposed, at least twice with a short field by going for it on 4th down deep in the own territory. They have a complete platoon, NO one goes both ways and have a complete different 11 guys also on the kickoff team, (oh, except the kicker) that do not start offense or defense and yes CC scored on a Kick return but it was called back but scored in another short field. Bottom line is SK cannot platoon and be competive, they don't have the personnel. However they could be very competitive if they have some boys go both ways. They have probably 4-5 kids that play defense that should be on offense. Positive note-the SK run defense was pretty good, i don't there was a run of more than 8 yds. Pass coverage needs work. SK offensive line needs a couple of kids from the defense.

They got runnerup in the NKY Middleschool large class Div last yr. Doesn't make sense.

That helps tremondously. SK platoon's, and as far as winning games it will be to their demise to do so against good teams anyway. I get it because they have about 50 kids... They have enough talent to field a very strong team if some went both ways but not so much with the platoon.

Overall these times look awfully slow. Dillion Powell...is that first column supposed to be 40? 5.03? If it is that's a joke. I have a Freshman that would make top 10--15. He must have been either ill or the whole thing is off.

That is unfortunate. That's a big drop off from the recent past, especially last year they made it to the Gold finals i believe.

Getting back to the purpose of the thread...She did coach JV the last several years. However her predecessor did not bring her back last year. It behooves me why the administration would hire her back given that circumstance. I also heard that "they" wanted to go with another candidate but was forced to go the teacher route as another poster already pointed out. They had some good quality candidates that had both HS & club coaching experience but teachers are the priority-unfortunately...According to a couple of parents I spoke with, they are very disappointed in the selection. Its a frustrating experience for both players and parents. While it is true the scholarships are earned at the club level etc...but when you have a coach that is not well versed in the game and she tells your daughter one way to do something and it is wrong those habits have to be "unlearned" when she returns to club ball...

Both the JV coach and the Freshman coach are NOT returning. They do have a JV coach now but only know her first name. Still no Freshman coach.

Who are the 2 girls not returning? ...Although not really part of the program but in the school district, the 6'4" incoming 7th grader is now going to go to Holy Cross.

Like the enthusiasm for SK, but they do have some big challenges...replacing 4 of the 5 interior O Line is huge. Top 2 receivers gone. Their getting to need some kids to step up big...They do have a pretty good sophomore class coming in and their Freshman class overall-not sure yet, but the do have 3 very good athletes that could play anywhere.

Heard that St. Mary's has a very good team and only lost to Turkeyfoot by 2 which lost in the Semi-finals against Twenhofel.

6h grade Twenhofel over Gray by 9. Kady Schawe, Sidney Thomas and Beka Sergent made the all tournament team.

Fun watching the matchup last night of 8th gr guards, especially point G. Twenhofel vs Holmes. Twenhofel wins by 14, plays Woodland in the semi's. I assume Gray won last night? If so, Gray vs St. Pius in the other semi-final.

It is doubtful that he will be going to Scott HS, that being the case a lot of times they don't bother like the kid a couple of years at SK, almost got kicked off the team when it got out he was going to transfer out when he became a freshman... Ty is a a beast, the new kid who is probably around 6'2" makes a big difference defensively and offensive put backs. It's difficult to penetrate and score...especially if you have a smaller squad. Their 2 guards play play good defense but they struggle scoring, especially from the outside. They scored Maybe 4 pts combined in 2 games against us.
