  1. Just looking at some scores/records from from last night, and had a few questions as I have only seen a couple games at the KOB this year. Fairdale seems to be up and down, is that from losing their core guys from last year? Doss has seemed to struggle since the "incident" a few weeks ago, are they still considered the favorite for the region? It looks like Coach Crews has gotten Desales to a great record, have they beaten anyone in the top 25 this year? PRP seems to be what they always are, is Bullitt East capable of putting together another regional run like last year? And what has happened at Iroquois, J'town & Butler? All three are usually up around the top of the region most years, and they look like they've fallen off bad...did I see where Valley beat Butler last night? Seems like an odd year for the 6th region...
  2. Kudos to the guys that coach. When you hear things like that, you realize how difficult it must be dealing with teenagers all the time.
  3. Where is this game at? That might be the determining factor
  4. What happened with Johnson? Wasn't he a football player too? Was Jefferson in trouble during the King of the Bluegrass or does anyone know?
  5. Let's be honest, there isn't a "perfect" place for the LIT and regional tournaments to be played at in Louisville. Every viable option has a distinct negative to it and most of them is the parking situation. It is what it is, if you don't like it, don't go...no matter where it is.
  6. Now here's the real pressing question: Who in the world is Red Bird?
  7. Bullitt East has the pieces to be the front runner for the 6th region this year. They have the size and the shooters. I think they had some rough patches during the summer, but if they can iron those out they have a very solid chance to be playing in Rupp in a wide open 6th region.
  8. Butler had some defections from a very subpar season last year which could be addition by subtraction. They return probably the hardest athlete to stop in the region in Will Johnson. I also think they have some talented younger kids in the sophomore and freshmen classes from what I hear. Jaquay Wales, I think, should be one of the talked about freshmen this year but no one is mentioning him. Butler could surprise some people this year, but I doubt a region title run is in the cards.
  9. Mingus took a teaching job at an Elementary school and wouldn't be able to get to practice until 5 or so. That is the reason for the timing of the change...nothing shady or anything like that.
  10. I think this region has the most question marks of any this year. There's not one clear cut favorite, and most had issues during the summer. It could be back and forth all year long, and might come down to one team, any of 8 or 9 teams, getting hot for 3 games in the region. Should be fun, interesting and possibly even ugly all rolled into one.
  11. The problem that needs addressing is the amount of loop holes in all the transfer rules. Let me first say, that I believe any kid in high school should have the right to transfer if he/she wants to, just like in college. Some situations just don't work out for everyone involved. The problem is now AAU has its hands in high school basketball and these kids are filtering around where their AAU coach sees fit. So, lies are given on several different ends and some lies are better covered up than others which leads to the inconsistent rulings by KHSAA. Some high school programs definitely use this to their advantage, and probably even cross "recruiting" lines. Add in the fact that private institutions don't have to go by the same rules as public schools (offering tuition and other assistance/benefits), and what you have is the mess that is going on right now.
  12. Fern Creek is the new Waggener. Look for the same thing to happen to them in a few years. Do it the right way. AAU is killing high school sports and ethics...and we all know there are no ethics involved when it comes to AAU.
  13. This is not true. It would be the best kept secret at Butler too as they still have everyone participating in pre-summer workouts.
  14. Tony Williams is likely the guy, but I don't think he's a teacher so it'd be hard to get him in the building. I don't see Mingus leaving Desales for Doss. A couple of KC's assistants are putting in for it as well. But the school itself and its issues are probably keeping a lot of coaches away from even thinking about applying. And Salyer is probably just a backup plan at this point if nothing else worthwhile comes along.
