Anyone know if Whitefield Academy really defeated Red Bird by a score of 90-7 on December 6?

 

I noticed that score on the scoreboard and am just curious if that's a legitimate score or a misprint.

Started off slow in our 1st game losing 51-43 to Leslie County. Game 2 vs Redbird we bounced back with a 90-7 win.

Whitefield has a new coach, who came from Georgia, I believe. It also has a big man and some athletes.

Also looks like someone needs an ego boost. Only one of two reasons to beat a team like that, you hate the other coach or you have to beat kids down to make yourself feel better. Was 60-7 not good enough, trying to beat them by 100. Team that do this I love it when they play the PRP and Ballards and get killed.

I didn't think you were, although one must wonder how a game gets so far out of hand. 90 points is a lot to score with what must have been a running clock the entire second half.

Yeah, seems a little senseless to beat down a helpless foe. I'd have to know more about the game to know but hard to believe they couldn't do something a little differently.

Red Bird is a Christian school located in Bell County. Started as a settlement school in 1922. Total enrollment for grades 9-12 in 2013-14 was 56, 24 of which were boys. Perhaps has a different attitude toward athletics than what Whitefield has apparently adopted.

I can't fault back-benchers for playing hard, if that's what in fact happened.

 

I can fault Whitefield for scheduling such an overmatched team.

 

Trinity isn't scheduling Holy Angels. Ballard isn't play Highland Latin.

 

Why would these two play each other?

It was part of the Berea tournament so the scheduling was done by the Berea folks.

If they only have 24 boys in the entire high school, then the attitude toward athletics should be "Let's join the KCAA."

Trinity can't play Highlands Latin or Holy Angels or Immaculata due to the KHSAA vs. KCAA status.

 

The Berea tourney was an event for small schools and I'd say Whitefield applies. While Red Bird is tiny, Whitefield is far from huge. Would be a 1-A football team, if it had a football team.

 

However, I'd also argue:

- Christian Fellowship (Benton/Marshall County/WKY)

- Louisville Whitefield

- Red Bird Christian

- Whitesville Trinity

- Paducah Community Christian

 

need to join the KCAA. They don't because KHSAA offers more sports and there are closer teams to play.

 

They should because they'd be far more competitive.

 

North Hardin Christian briefly joined the KHSAA and found itself getting pounded by the Fort Knoxes and the Cavernas of the world.

They said Whitefield played four white guys and a Egyptian in the second half!
