Doesn't mean we shouldn't want it! No idea if I'm younger or older than you, but since the inception of 5A, there have been some years with very good regional final games. Some large upsets too. Without actually knowing, I feel like the implement of RPI hurt the regional round in recent memory.

The safe and popular pick here will be Highlands and that's the way I lean as well. I find myself wondering how competitive Pulaski Co will make this. First thoughts have me at 35-14. Like @hrcarrier said, no surprise that Travis Burns has the Maroons back playing for regional titles. This will probably be the most competitive regional final across 5A just due to the fact that it may not be a running clock. A shame, really.

Honestly completely forgot about the reclassification next year when I made that post. Good call. Yes, BG will still have solid pieces. I don't expect a tremendous fall off but it will be interesting to compare notes going in to 2025 to determine who will be expected to be where in rankings.

Well said. The region as a whole opens up a bit next season and I feel like Owensboro will be at the top of most pecking orders preseason due to the talent they have returning, coupled with hard hits from graduation for BG and South. If you're a Devil fan, I'm sure you'd love to see another tester so that the back half of the season isn't dragging out with multiple no contest games just because you will be more talented. I know they have played X previously and I thought that was an outstanding game for them. Something similar to that would be ideal.

Purples big. Can't be looking past this game though. I know this bunch only has the Spartans on their mind for Thanksgiving weekend, need to reel that in and handle business accordingly.

The Trojans from Barren County (10-2) make the venture to Georgetown to take on the Warhawks from Great Crossing (9-3) Barren comes off the program's biggest win to date IMO over North Hardin that solidified their first regional final appearance in school history. John Myers has implemented his brand of football in his first year at the helm and it has paid great dividends. The Warhawks come off a huge upset of #1 RPI ranked Manual. A result that no one expected to see. It's my understanding that this is also Great Crossing's first regional championship appearance in the school's limited history. So, both of these teams are vying for a shot at history again to win and make an appearance in the semifinals. Does Barren County have a shot here? Do the Warhawks continue to play at the high level in which they downed Manual with, or will they play down to their competition so to speak? What say you?

Nothing against Union County but I'm going to roll with Hart, for no other reason than it's easy to root on the Raiders and their rise program wise over the past couple of seasons. My prediction is not based on a shred of evidence one way or the other. 21-20 Hart County Go Raiders!

Other than some small pushing and shoving, I didn't see a lot there on the video. Calling early just as a precaution? Sounds like the grown-ups got together to prevent any further issue, which I commend.

Eh. Yes and no. Penalties really hurt BG tonight. But it was a flag fest both ways so hard to really blame it all on that. It’s a rivalry game and you had to know Owensboro was going to leave it all out there after getting running clocked by BG in the regular season. I also expected a more convincing win but at the end of the day, be positive yet not satisfied with 27-14 and move on to the next. Plenty to improve on!

Curious to see how O starts on offense. I feel like Devils will ride Hampton to the tune of about 25-30 touches. Which they should. Unless the Devils get down big in a hurry, there is no reason to let Delacey put it in the air more than 15 times. Needs to be a calculated passing game. Of course, just my opinion. But if they want a close game, I'd say they will give it to their best player(s) and live with the results. On the BG side of things, you have to feel if you get on O quick then it works heavily in your favor. Purples have been a mental hurdle overall for Owensboro the last decade or so. We will see how it plays out. I for one would never take O lightly. Look as close as last year against SW.... Everyone predicting blowout city and it turns on its head completely and the Spartans got taken to the woodshed. Complete "flogging" as our friend @Brown called it if I remember correctly. Good luck and hope for a great game with no injuries!

Rash stadium may affect some teams, but it doesn't bother the Purples often. They've won 7 of their past 8 trips to Rash. Unless Owensboro shows they can move the ball on offense this one will be ugly. I'll say BG 42-14.

I’m a bit conflicted there personally but I’ll defer to those who have consistently watched Ryle this year. I’ll still have to take X but maybe not by as much as I initially thought.

X wins by a lot X wins small Ryle wins small Those are about the only outcomes I see. If Ryle “cruises” over X then that is going to change the landscape in a big way this postseason. I would be shocked.
