Nope. They are headed to Great Crossing. Central Hardin will make to trip to Ryle.

1979 is the only other year in the discussion for Barren County. They went 10-1 that year - which this team just matched for most wins in a single season for the program.  The only loss Barren suffered that year was a 35-15 loss to eventual 3-A champion Franklin-Simpson. That loss kept them out of the playoffs. The final regular season poll that year had them ranked 2nd.
 

Barren County had only one playoff victory before this year, that coming in 1992. That team finished 6-6. 

 

So in terms of playoff performance, this year is unmatched. In terms of best season…. Between this and 1979.

Congratulations to Barren and my friend Coach Myers. A class act.

I typically shy away from applying negative labels to high school teams/coaches, but North Hardin is in the conversation for biggest underachiever in the state over the last several years. They've produced a lot of standout individuals, but haven't been able to take that next step as a team.
