The Trojans from Barren County (10-2) make the venture to Georgetown to take on the Warhawks from Great Crossing (9-3)

Barren comes off the program's biggest win to date IMO over North Hardin that solidified their first regional final appearance in school history. John Myers has implemented his brand of football in his first year at the helm and it has paid great dividends.

The Warhawks come off a huge upset of #1 RPI ranked Manual. A result that no one expected to see. It's my understanding that this is also Great Crossing's first regional championship appearance in the school's limited history. So, both of these teams are vying for a shot at history again to win and make an appearance in the semifinals.

Does Barren County have a shot here? Do the Warhawks continue to play at the high level in which they downed Manual with, or will they play down to their competition so to speak?

I asked early on if this Barren County team was for real, and so many responses were no, their schedule was weak and they would be lucky to make it to the 2nd round. What a story these Trojans are. 

 

Then you have the Warhawks, winning their 1st playoff games ever in grand fashion. No one was looking at GC to make any noise this season, until they beat their crosstown (more like down the street) rivals. I know I wasn't. 

Shoot. Who to pull for? Possibly Barren, as GC was no match for Ryle earlier. However, it can be difficult to beat a team twice in one season!

I will admit I have not had the time to look at 6A RPI so I wanted to ask here - does the winner of this game get Ryle next week (assuming they win this Friday) no matter who comes out on top?

I think so unless the unthinkable happened and Ballard’s beat Trinity.

Give me the Trojans by a slim margin, this Barren County team has some size and I don’t believe the Warhawks will be able to get the run game going downhill out of their 2 back shotgun look. Could definitely see a world where they are able to throw the ball on the Trojans but I believe they’ll make a couple of mistakes by testing the wrong individuals that they believe to be incapable of making a play. On offense the recipe is simple yet for defenses it is one of the worst weeks to prepare a game plan, the discipline of this Great Crossing team will be tested. I think this is one of the better games across the State, and I’m excited to watch this one. Let’s see if this underdog story continues.

BC 28 GC 21

Central Hardin was able to rush for 232 yards vs Barren County. While I haven’t seen Great Crossing play this year, I was not very impressed with the Trojans. Give me Great Crossing by 2 TDs.

Keep in mind, the Warhawks thumped their in-town rival who runs that type of offense earlier this season. They are quite used to defending against that.

Going to be an interesting game here I am going to pull for Coach Myers and Barren CO this Friday Night.

While I can agree the Scott County win was a good one, I’d argue that the QB for Barren County Tate Spellman orchestrates the offense far more efficiently than what the Cardinals put on the field this season, adding to the fact they can throw the football exceptionally well after they lull the opposition to sleep. The Warhawks forced 5 TO’s in that game in late August (4 fumbles, 1 INT) so if they get another repeat performance against these Trojans you’re correct, we may see a blow out. I personally just don’t see that happening.

GC is very talented, hardly anyone going both ways. BC has not seen a running back like #8 and a running QB like #5. And it is hard to run on their D. That said, Meade had over 415 yards of offense against them (275 in the air) and had a chance to win the game. 

Also, these are two teams with virtually no playoff experience between them  (aside from the last two weeks), so the pressure on players and staff alike will play a key part in this game. Enter home field advantage.
